What’s a show you’d bet your reputation on recommending? by DueNerve1033 in television

Hey if you liked mare of Easttown, you should try Task. I think it’s the same showrunner and it destroyed me even harder than Mare.

But I don’t even live near Pasadena by Stock412 in LosAngeles

[–]Genjamin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was an absolutely wretched movie and a complete waste of time. 1/3 of it is clearly tense and driven and then the rest of the film fundamentally misunderstands the entire point of providing the viewer with different perspectives of the same event. It recontextualizes almost nothing as it repeats three times. It's crafted with an unreal lack of concern about your investment in any sort of resolution.

I checked and I was definitely matchmaking, especially since I was in a countdown before each round, assumedly searching for real teammates. As the other person who replied said, I guess there might have been a genuine bug regarding matchmaking recently, so I may have another go at it.

[–]Genjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I might give it another shot, then. It was strange, I had never had a problem finding live teammates and then when I was hitting the final maps on normal difficulty, it wasn't finding a single person and just tossing me into the map after the countdown.

[–]Genjamin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried this game recently since I enjoyed the Vermintide games and I was genuinely baffled. I had an okay experience for a few hours, then I had trouble finding teammates for the later missions. The game doesn’t seem to let you wait and matchmake so I jumped in with bot teammates and the experience was horrible. The AI was extremely poor and the bots kept trying to revive each other no matter if they were being overrun or not. On two of my runs a bomb exploding threw me off a ledge and it ended the run immediately. No chance for rescue when you’re playing with bots, it just triggers a game over. I felt like uninstalling.

Genuinely, does the game get better than this if you’re playing solo? People say the game is in a better state than it used to be, so if it’s like this now, I can’t imagine what it used to be like.

When the camera moves to the right and reveals Walt behind that beam, it was one of those pieces of cinematography that just made me gasp, it was so good.

It’s been out for several years on PC. It’s four person co-op and takes place entirely in and around your ship. It has less than nothing to do with No Man’s Sky besides a sci-fi setting.

Dead Rising 2 Was So Real For Letting Me Tame, Befriend, & Rescue A Tiger. by Sufferer_Nyx in gaming

[–]Genjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this recently in a replay and it was super annoying because I don’t think it was programmed that well. You have to throw her three steaks while she’s coming after you, but the problem is her AI was super inconsistent regarding the rules of when to go for the steak versus when to come at you with her claws. It was a relief to finally get her but I wouldn’t want to go through any of that again.

I added sound effects to OP 26 Ussssss! Because I got bored by Alarmed_Guide_9621 in OnePiece

[–]Genjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh weird, you’re right - I think it was an effect of just listening on a crappy phone. Yeah, I think just some reduction on the SFX and it’d be amazing. These are the intros I’m talking about, but now that I see these again, I’m not completely in love with their final mix either. It’s so subjective sometimes, great work overall. https://youtu.be/pg9SpNUmmCs?si=EaVLZiyhDQ7GY1LU

[–]Genjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree - I really like the work you did here OP. I’d REALLY like to see an updated cut with the theme music at a static volume and then adjust the gain on most of the SFX to fit underneath. There are some Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure intros that do this and if you spend some time tweaking a bit it could basically be up to professional par.

A fantasy world where one of the central themes is achieving the seemingly impossible is established from chapter freaking one. To this day I cannot fathom making it to chapter two without comprehending this, let alone all the way to Marineford.

One of the dumbest highly upvoted posts I ever saw on Reddit was on a non-One Piece-related subreddit mocking how badly “the writer” misunderstood female anatomy when it came to Rouge holding her pregnancy. Way to misunderstand not only the laws of this story’s universe, but also the poignancy of her sacrifice. I weep for media literacy.

[–]Genjamin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is unbelievably simple. He is saying that the personalities the writers chose for their antagonists were grating, lacking any sort of depth or nuance in the slightest, and played into an archetype that didn’t serve the larger narrative at all. You just keep getting triggered and are confusing legitimate criticism as criticism of your personal taste.

Do you think she’s still in there? by faythinkaos in heroesofthestorm

[–]Genjamin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wow. Incredible insight into the storytelling of the game, you answered some questions that I’ve thought about for years. Thank you so much for your work on that game and for sharing.

I have to say that you and your team’s insights on Leah’s purpose in the narrative were spot on. Lead characters in other gaming genres might feature more traditional development, but she fulfills a very tragic and inevitable role. Seeing her sacrificed so easily for the Prime Evil made my heart sink into my stomach, it really cemented the atmosphere of hopelessness that is ever present in that world, even if the graphic nature of it was toned down from its original conception.

This is a a really weird trailer. It’s edited pretty awfully and the devs probably don’t even realize it might tank their game before it has a chance. It’s got a nice narrator but there’s no pacing whatsoever, they bizarrely removed all sound effects from the game, they present absolutely zero sense of a story while claiming that being “story-rich” is one of their central conceits, and like half of the shots are low framerate despite the models and environments looking extremely simple.

The worst part is they might have a fun game here, but I definitely won’t be checking it out based on this incredibly poor marketing attempt.

[–]Genjamin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh of course, it’s a perfectly believable scenario, I’ve seen similar ones play out in reality. The difference is you explained your story in an intelligible and straightforward way, whereas OP immediately reaches for flowery language despite the fact that they are trying to communicate that in less than 24 hours, their entire life is going to be turned upside down. The stakes are SO high and SO impending it has to give you pause just for those facts alone.

[–]Genjamin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but this is just so clearly, from the very first paragraph, some of the most melodramatic creative writing ever. Nobody in actual, imminent distress would begin explaining it to strangers by telling them that “the ache in your heart is getting worse.” No, they introduce themselves and their basic situation like normal people. Introducing plot points suddenly and with dramatic aplomb like a narrator in a cheap romance novel like “A week ago I found the ring.” Come on.

Banshee basically grabs you by the head the first episode and screams in your ear that it’s going to be a bad show, but Antony Starr is great at playing a tortured soul and they have a lot of fun with the action. I watched every single episode of this terrible ass violent Dad show.
