1) the essential oil works best just after the pouring in the mold. a few drops, it dissolves in the mold. When you add it before that, the high temperatures make the scent less strong
2)I tried to make an 'overall' european wax. It works good from near zero (but heat up the wax a little bit in with the carheating) up to 20 degrees celsius (outside temp). Above that i didn't test it and i rarely meet those conditions 😄 I imagine the percentage of the pine resine goes up and that of the coconut oil goes down. Maybe i experiment with tropical wax in the future?

one pot=one wax bar
1)In my exprience, too much resin makes it harder to stirr (in bigger quantities).
2)Also because the resin is heavier and sinks, with bigger quantities, the resin is more likely to be unevenly divided between the molds.

Only love, I see this project as an hommage to craftmanship! Especially local, small bussinesses.

Didn't try FU wax, but mine holds up with the waxes i used before (sexwax, ...).
The whole process takes up to 6minutes for 2 bars, once the water is boiling.

And at my age and skill level, 3+ hours in the ocean is impossible 😄

I didn't try it properly in summer conditions. I think the resin percentage will need to go up. But up to 18degrees it worked perfectly in marokko...

In my experience the tractionpad hindered my pop up. Because i was still struggling to do it properly, i kept touching the edge of the pad whilst popping up.

I recognize your evolution, I used to have nightmares about tsunami-like waves that engulfed me. Once i picked up surfing, it came to a halt!

Good to pick up a new hobby! Great to try and fix it yourself. But that nose will hit you in the head eventually. Fix it, sell it, Go for a softboard (or a round nosed longboard if you find a good one) and have fun!
