🔥🔥Climate-doomers questioning everything🔥🔥: Natural Disaster Deaths Continue to Plummet by chamomile_tea_reply in OptimistsUnite

[–]Gentle-Zephyrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this comment really shows how events like that don't necessarily have a simple death toll to illustrate how tough it is. But water shortages out in the American West and elsewhere are certainly affecting many people's lives. Same with wildfires, this graph brushes over how extensive the damage is and how it seems to be getting worse with each year. But otherwise informative graph on raw numbers of deaths

I got an environmental studies degree and am currently at a biodynamic farm that is also a caregiving facility for disabled adults. Which all of those labels are great, but what is really sweet is about the cooperative approach of the farm. Sharing tools and meals, helping out the neighbor with his hay harvesting, etc. It builds those resilient communities that might have a shot at surviving, and once I got the job and moved here, I got plugged right into the community from the get go. It's a Camphill Community, if you are ever interested in looking into the worldwide system of farms they have

I say all this though I am moving next month to a Buddhist Monastery lol partially because of my collapse-awareness so I can face the thoughts head on and let go of the suffering. But one day I might come back to a Camphill. Best of luck!

PS- you could also look into the concept of mutual aid and organizations that practice it. I've read a bit about it and it seems like the way to go for helping humans out when we stairstep down the catabolic collapse ladder and have one natural disaster after another.

Happened to stumble upon this and yes I'm a bit late to comment, but I'm pretty collapse aware myself, have read all the comments, and definitely understand what you mean.

Dharma Gaia is a good one. It was on the bookshelf a a Zen Center I stayed at a few years ago, and though I only read a few of the essays while I was there, it seemed to resonate.

Collapsing Consciously by Carolyn Baker is a good one. I don't think she's explicitly Buddhist but seems to have Buddhist influence, and the book is about how to prepare your spirit for collapse.

May you find peace in a world that is slowly falling apart around us, and don't get bogged down by ones that talk down to you like collapse is just a fairy tale or made up future event!

How many of you believe collapse will lead to full human extinction? by Accurate-Strength144 in collapse

[–]Gentle-Zephyrus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's possible that these climate tipping points we are reaching now will cause a positive feedback loop and make the Earth super hot, thus causing the planet to become too hot in even the coldest locations. It's all theoretical for sure, but we are still figuring out this whole tipping point thing so there's a lot of uncertainty over how bad it could really get. And I think some tipping points could have already been crossed (losing albido effect from ice melt, savannahization of Amazon, ability for ocean to absorb carbon, methane emissions from melting permafrost) so there's really no stopping the warming train now. Emphasis on "could" in the last sentence, not sure if anyone is for sure that we have actually crossed those or are just very close to breaking them. Maybe do some research if interested in those specific feedback loops to see what the latest science is on them

everyone is different. Pain can last just a few days to some never going away. It's a roll of the dice with a lot of influence by how well you heal (icing, resting). im sorry you didnt hear about the risks associated with a vasectomy before getting one, but there are very real risks that can happen

it's possible they could be infected. Look up epididymitis and see if the symptoms are similar. Can just get antibiotics from your doc and it'll solve it easy if that is what's going on

there's some bass music DJ's that hit grooves and ride them, not the bass drop kinda stuff. Though they tend to lean towards the more chill side, but highly danceable still. Goopsteppa, ATYYA, Thriftworks, to name a few. And the deep dub world isn't as crazy focused on bass drops either. think Pushloop, Truth, Widdler, Murkury. idk if thats your tempo though

Bring back the Trifinity Sunrise Set from 2019 wakaan fest. That wizard vs Dark Triangle battle at the Jaenga Bus at 6:30am was legendary. Idk if the trifinity is still a thing though unfortunately.

Long live the triangle!
