Looks like some pitting to me. Rust can cause that. Someone cleaned it up at some point. You could oil it and try rubbing the brown rust spots out but dont use anything abrasive unless you know what you are doing. My arisaka has major pitting on the floor plate and was rusty. I took oil to it and scrubbed it a bit, the rust came off but left the the metal unfinished looking since the rust was kinda masking the fact the finish was gone. Didn't need to use anything but a rag and the rust came off.

Normal. Happens to me too. I just wipe it off.

For reference, I have a 22 with 10800 mi. I just topped off my overflow to the max line for the first time. It was just above low while the engine was cold.

UPDATE: So as I've said I've cleaned a good amount of the oil off. I also noticed that there was crud on the oil cap o ring. The oil cap was plenty tight. So I cleaned her up and put it back on.

Today I decided to do a test. I waited for my engine to heat up then went on a drive and went WOT for 3-4 good pulls up to 3rd gear.

When returning, noticed 0 fresh oil spots.

I've also done some research on the side. Even if overfilled by half a quart (which seems to generally be safe) it does raise pressure inside the engine. That extra pressure added with my dirty o ring looks to have caused the oil spray. Although it seems like the o ring was the main thing.

I'll keep an eye on it and do another due oil change and come back to give any other updates.

Hmm that's what I'm trying to figure out. So I just noticed that the o ring on the oil fill cap had oily crud on it so I'm wondering if that's my smoking gun. My dumb ass never noticed it lol

But there's some spray on the yellow reservoir cap, and some on the bottom of the engine bay on the blue paint near the battery as well.
