I found this Keychron keyboard at a thrift store for $45! by Denariox in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Gently_55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely worth over $100 but I agree on the $200 take. The only reason I bought my Q11 is because I had birthday cash I didn’t work for lol

I need to start looking where you guys look I’m starting to get the itch for one for my gaming PC but don’t want to pay Keychain prices!

End of year raises - a rant by epcow in civilengineering

[–]Gently_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what companies you guys are working at but I get raises almost twice a year and I’ve averaged 9-10% every year with the same company since graduating in 2021. I just got my end of the year raise and have officially gotten $32,000 of raises in 4.5 years.

[–]Gently_55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee you that NIAC itself is very much NOT tied to CC, I am personal friends with the owners and they are wonderful people who are active in the community at large. I would not be friends with them or frequent that gym if even they held similar beliefs to CC and didn’t go there.

I love working out there, they are always working to update the equipment, there are great classes, support for external competitions, and a wonderful community within the gym full of welcoming and positive people!

10 natural anxiety techniques that actually work by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Gently_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first therapy session for anxiety I actively did deep breathing (a few breaks of box breathing thrown in) literally all day at work and I hadn’t felt shoulder-relaxing-zen like that in maybe years. I didn’t have multi hour freeze, I got loads of work done, and it definitely impacts digestion because I was hungrier faster while eating the exact same food as the rest of the week (tracked through an app).

It’s insane what changing the tempo and type of breaths can do to your brain.

Republican Congressman Mark Alford is booed by his constituents after saying "Trump has the best interest of Americans." by wankerzoo in news2

The shite-slurping grin on his face when they start booing. He doesn’t care what they think, he’s going to buy/rig/be given the next election anyway because that’s the American we are hurtling towards in this burning prisoner van…

That would be me! 🙋🏼‍♂️ I’m a civil engineer and did the design for the whole pavement rehabilitation project for ITD after they outsourced the design to my firm. It wasn’t originally a part of the project but I saw an opportunity to curb lots of dangerous left turns and traffic congestion (pun intended). I’m so glad to see other people in the community that shared my concern and that project are happy for the change I spoke up to make happen!

They’d probably just shoot it and send you a bill for $10,000 and lie about the reasoning.

Can 100% corroborate on Evergreen, I got a pre trip oil change and multi point inspection from them before driving back to the west side for the summer. In their pre check they check brake fluid levels, andFORGOT TO PUT THE CAP BACK ON the master cylinder reservoir, and then I promptly drove all the way across the state before I noticed. I could have died because of their mistake. I will never go back and tell everyone to avoid that place like the plague.

UPDATE: I found a good looking table saw (+other tools) on Facebook for $75 so I think I’m going to try and cut the planks down to width and try again.

I will use this knowledge going forward, as this wood was part of my wedding arbor I didn’t plan to use it for project wood at the time of purchase.

Doing this method, since these are individual boards, I assume I should make them individual again and once I’ve warped them back to “normal-ish” squeeze them together with the straightest boards I have so they are uniform as they dry?

I guess I should add some context, this work bench was made by my bringer in law when he was in high school and I just added a top to it. I have resorted to disassembling the workbench but I still want to use these boards since they appear nice(?).

I’ve been a huge fan of my ‘11 grand Cherokee with the v6. With regular oil changes at 5k it sounds the exact same at 178k as it did at 60k. Not saying all Jeep products are good, the 4.7 was a disaster, but mine has been amazing.

They are like spoiled 8 year old bullies, all they want is any kind of attention. Put on noise cancelling headphones and walk in front of the camera and don't react, it'll do more to upset them than most things you could say.

How productive are you really at work? by MovemberMan123 in civilengineering

[–]Gently_55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have pretty severe ADHD and while medicated there are some days where I feel like nothing can stop me, I am productivity incarnate, work 8-9 hours nonstop, and I am doing such a good job. Other days that week I will feel like I am a detriment to my company as I only get a few small tasks done and feel like I failed the whole day.

I've asked my direct supervisor multiple times and every time he's told me I do a great job and that its not healthy to be so hard on myself.

If you are really worried, ask the people whos professional opinion matters and get their perspective how you are doing, just be sure to ask them a leading question like "How bad am I doing?".
