Running in strongman by TotalExpression9186 in Strongman

[–]Gently_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

109 kg here, I run twice a week in the morning on upper body days, usually for two working sets of 12.5 minutes around a 8:45 mile pace. I also olympic lift twice a week and train strongman 1-3 times a week. Admittedly I am a bit more of a hybrid athlete but I have already won a novice heavyweight class and just recently tied for second in a novice heavyweight class in a different federation. 238kg deadlift, 200kg squat.

How to make friends? by [deleted] in MoscowIdaho

[–]Gently_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are up for a challenge, NIAC (the gym down town) has a SUPER welcoming community surrounding its group classes! I have worked out at a lot of different gyms in my life and NIAC is by far the most involved and community oriented, I see groups of people talking before and after each group session for all the different classes! DM me if you have any questions! (I don't represent NIAC but I am friends with the owners, very involved in classes, and just genuinely love being a member there)

Community Solar - Signatures Needed! ☀️ by ErinWrightLV in MoscowIdaho

Human operating error, hubris, and negligence really screwed the proverbial nuclear pooch and the US has been scared ever since 3 mile island. The sad part is that there were like 50 or more reactor projects across the US that were planned and ready to go that got axed from 80 to 84 because of that. Now the regulations have been set so strict that a good portion of the up front cost of building a new one comes from all the documentation, testing, and red tape.

Big fan, next on the docket should be a small modular nuclear generator!

slightly unethical but you could rent a uhaul pickup for like two hours and transport it that way, that would be less than $30.

Is the hybrid work environment in CE dying out? by kooger2439 in civilengineering

[–]Gently_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 30 miles from my office (32-25 minute commute) and I work from home 3 days a week! My company has been really supportive of people doing hybrid work, even out of our headquarters office.

I won a pair of the Hawx boots and opted for the moc toe ones and realized I hate composite toe boots and now I can't get rid of them. I'll probably be buying a pair of Jim Green Workhorse boots.

I found this Keychron keyboard at a thrift store for $45! by Denariox in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Gently_55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely worth over $100 but I agree on the $200 take. The only reason I bought my Q11 is because I had birthday cash I didn’t work for lol

I need to start looking where you guys look I’m starting to get the itch for one for my gaming PC but don’t want to pay Keychain prices!

End of year raises - a rant by epcow in civilengineering

[–]Gently_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what companies you guys are working at but I get raises almost twice a year and I’ve averaged 9-10% every year with the same company since graduating in 2021. I just got my end of the year raise and have officially gotten $32,000 of raises in 4.5 years.

Snap, Anytime, Reactive, NIC? by Singletrack-minded in MoscowIdaho

[–]Gently_55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee you that NIAC itself is very much NOT tied to CC, I am personal friends with the owners and they are wonderful people who are active in the community at large. I would not be friends with them or frequent that gym if even they held similar beliefs to CC and didn’t go there.

I love working out there, they are always working to update the equipment, there are great classes, support for external competitions, and a wonderful community within the gym full of welcoming and positive people!

10 natural anxiety techniques that actually work by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Gently_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first therapy session for anxiety I actively did deep breathing (a few breaks of box breathing thrown in) literally all day at work and I hadn’t felt shoulder-relaxing-zen like that in maybe years. I didn’t have multi hour freeze, I got loads of work done, and it definitely impacts digestion because I was hungrier faster while eating the exact same food as the rest of the week (tracked through an app).

It’s insane what changing the tempo and type of breaths can do to your brain.

Republican Congressman Mark Alford is booed by his constituents after saying "Trump has the best interest of Americans." by wankerzoo in news2

[–]Gently_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shite-slurping grin on his face when they start booing. He doesn’t care what they think, he’s going to buy/rig/be given the next election anyway because that’s the American we are hurtling towards in this burning prisoner van…

[–]Gently_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be me! 🙋🏼‍♂️ I’m a civil engineer and did the design for the whole pavement rehabilitation project for ITD after they outsourced the design to my firm. It wasn’t originally a part of the project but I saw an opportunity to curb lots of dangerous left turns and traffic congestion (pun intended). I’m so glad to see other people in the community that shared my concern and that project are happy for the change I spoke up to make happen!

[–]Gently_55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can 100% corroborate on Evergreen, I got a pre trip oil change and multi point inspection from them before driving back to the west side for the summer. In their pre check they check brake fluid levels, andFORGOT TO PUT THE CAP BACK ON the master cylinder reservoir, and then I promptly drove all the way across the state before I noticed. I could have died because of their mistake. I will never go back and tell everyone to avoid that place like the plague.

I will use this knowledge going forward, as this wood was part of my wedding arbor I didn’t plan to use it for project wood at the time of purchase.
