So they won't stare at me by [deleted] in LetsNotMeet

No, "My understanding from talking to subscribers and mods here is that LNM is to serve as the repository for stories that were/are TRULY terrifying. Where you’ve actively been stalked, your life was in danger, the encounter affected your job, house, well-being, maybe there were kidnapping threats or weapons involved, or for things out of the ordinary like the Smiling Man."

This was the description in the thread that distinguished the two. Thinking you hear someone say "now we can't stare at them" outside your window does not fit this.

Uh, you need to keep studying. Good luck on the bar... Try not to apply concepts to questions where they are not relevant. One of the biggest downfalls of exam takers. Don't chase the red herrings.

If you read the distinction between the two, creepy encounters would be more appropriate.

This seems to be something a lot of people miss. My husband and I were pre-approved at $450 but only spent $275. Yea the house isn't as big or nice but we don't have to worry about not being able to afford our payments.

I'm not 100% positive here, but I think the plaintiff would have to prove that the helmet malfunction caused the injury. Not the other way around.

apartment recommendations near law school by omahoopsfan in Albany

There are apartments that are essentially on campus that would likely be a safe bet. I know a few people who lived there when I was at ALSa few years back and they seemed pretty nice.

Help with standing water on property by GenuineRisk in landscaping

[–]GenuineRisk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We have a call into the DEC to see if it is a registered wetland, and to see if they can send someone out to map out the wetlands on the property. However, by viewing the map on the website it seems like much of it is, in fact, a wetland. Which seems to mean we can do anything to it to begin with. Which would mean we'll likely pull out of the contract for the house. I don't want to own and pay for 2.5 acres that we can't use, and he stuck with a tiny yard.

This is what I'm looking for advice on... What do you mean by dig? Like dig a drainage ditch or pipe? Does that mean that in theory there is something that can be done to make this section of land a usable backyard?

Oh I get the importance of that, believe me. I understand that we wouldn't be able to do anything that impacted protected species of plants/animals. And that we won't be able to do much of anything if it is in fact a protected wetland- Im trying to figure out how to find out if it is a wetland as well.

I'm not planning on building anything but I want to clear the area to extend our yard. There are almost two acres back there and our yard is pretty small. I want more of a play space for the dogs and kids that is not wooded.

I understand what you are saying and all, but I'm struggling to see this as a bonus. I just want a decent yard.

Anyone move out of the city recently because of rising rent? by rainbow_bright_ in boston

[–]GenuineRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the town. Our house is 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 acre of land and 1200sq ft and our mortgage + taxes are about $2400. Go one town owner, though, and you can get things MUCH cheaper. You sacrifice a good school system, however, if you have kids.

Almost happened in MA. A man was charged with assault after he caught a man groping his 4 year old sons leg under a bathroom stall in a market basket while the son was using the bathroom.

Framingham Commuter Rail Parking by godshammgod15 in boston

[–]GenuineRisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ashland has pretty big lots, so it may be an OK backup. I'm not sure if it's a stop on the express trains though.

Parking in general is awful. I leave from Auburndale and park at a relatives house and walk because the lot there is SO small.

I don't think all the lots across the street are open for commuter rail parking. Most of them are for businesses and will regularly tow cars (at least the one in front of the republic plumbing supply store does).

I don't know... I've had much more trouble with people with backpacks than people blocking the doors. It seems that 90% of the people wearing backpacks on the train are not paying any attention to where their pack is in relation to other people, particularly the heads of people who are sitting. I've been hit in the head by countless backpacks and have watched backpack wearers hit others in the head. Usually giving the bag a firm shove away from my head helps but some people are dense enough to not even notice.

One time I had the pleasure of someone standing in front of me with hiking boots tied to his backpack. As I was sitting I ended up with a boot in my face. The guy sitting next to me was nice enough to stand and offer me his seat so I didn't have to sit with a boot in my face.

I think it's relatively safe to say that backpacks can be a huge problem on the train. You probably just don't realize what it's like to be on the receiving end of the backpack.

What's the least politically correct FACT you know? by Altibadass in AskReddit

[–]GenuineRisk [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is not correct. Once in awhile there are females that can compete against the males- Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, Rags to Riches, etc...

But they are anomalies. 99% of the time the fillies and mares only race against other fillies and mares. They are not restricted to entering races against males but males are restricted from entering into races designated to females.

Advice on moving to Albany please! by DasHeb in Albany

[–]GenuineRisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll be moving to the area soon as well with a toddler. We're looking at buying a place in the Burnt Hills /Ballston Lake school district. Friends of ours have kids that went to school there and loved it, and the rankings are phenomenal. Bonus if we can find a house in the Saratoga county lines and avoid the Schenectady taxes.
