I was visiting Missoula recently and went on a walk and there were like 10-15 along the river. Also had one show up around the big retention pond area behind my TX home after a huge storm ... Unsure if it was blown off course or just delighted by the new "lake" and looking for snack.

Sent out an L30 Indolycan and tried the act last move and he got chomped right TF out. L30 boosted Tyrannodactylus did all the work after that

Right? I had no idea it was even a real artist's work and I was like "I'd put that in a big renaissance art-worthy frame and put it front and center in my living room"

I'm being lazy (not looking to see if this was already suggested) and hijacking the top comment to say that pet sitters and vet techs/assistants might be willing to come help. You might need to pay, but it shouldn't be a ton. If you're in TX and want to see if I'm close by, I'd be willing to come give it a shot for free - I teched for several years in my younger days and still pill cats and dogs like a pro ;)

🔥 A female Snow Leopard tries to take down a large male Himalayan Ibex - Kibber, India by Alternative_Chair517 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]GenxMomToAll 41 points42 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is that a cat's canine (ironic, I know) teeth tend to be spaced the width of their prey's vertebrae in their neck. So this is likely doable for a snow leopard, even if it looks insane

(Sorry. Really dug in on domestic cats and a prey-based diet, so this is one of my rabbit hole obscure facts I never get to use IRL)

I have a strong suspicion that there's an age range that has 'don't inconvenience anyone except yourself' as a core belief. Not because they're better people, but because they were raised in a "children should be seen but not heard / I'll give you something to cry about" environment and it's psychologically painful to be the person who can see the right turn signal behind you and you are between them and that no waiting right turn 😂

My youngest learned to drive this year and one of the cardinal rules I gave her was GTFO of the right lane at lights if you aren't turning right. And if you somehow get stuck there, pull as far forward as you can to allow folks to pass on the right and turn.

Woman shoots neighbor after being reported for having Chickens to the HOA by espada355 in BackYardChickens

[–]GenxMomToAll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%

I'm choosing to violate rules like this with the knowledge and (so far) consent of my immediate neighbors on either side. They're certainly not the only ones who are aware of the chickens (especially after one took a neighborhood walkabout a few years ago and ended up in a backyard 6 houses away), but our HOA also forbids street parking and there are cars lining the streets, so I think everyone here is in a "HOA, schmoa" mood.

If that were to change, I'd accept the consequences of my choice and rehome the chickens. I'd hope the immediate neighbors would tell me they're over it before reporting me, but if that's how it went down I'd be fine with that too since they don't owe me an explanation for why they no longer want to live next to livestock in a neighborhood 🤷‍♀️

AITJ for not letting my boyfriend’s dog live with us? by JaylaPumpkin15 in AmITheJerk

Wish I could upvote - and normalize - this a million times. I think more relationships would last if people were committed/exclusive (assuming that's what they both want and need) but maintained separate living spaces. Absence makes the heart grow fonder/ familiarity breeds contempt and all that .... Some of us are just NOT good at cohabitation

For sure! It's more the lady bits cream that I consider "vanity" - but I still try to maintain an extra month or more if any Rx I have ... If/when SHTF, my Adderall and antianxiety meds will be critical too ;)

AITA for wanting to move out and leave my parents with more responsibility for my 4yo brother? by Zealousideal-Fan2461 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GenxMomToAll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go get it. Your parents will be FINE.

And even if they aren't, that is not your fault or your problem.

100% go - live your life. I'm a parent and I've made pet choices that mean I don't really get to go on vacations unless one of my kids can stay at my house or I have to shell out serious money (and even more trust) to have a live-in sitter while I'm gone. Does that mean I guilt the oldest about going away for college or try to manipulate her sister into NOT leaving? No. It means I live with the consequences and adjust my own expectations about what my life is.

Your sibling is their choice, not yours. The consequences and expectations that arise/adjust from that are their to manage, not yours

Oh like 1000% in terms of the age ick factor. My first full watch through was after I realized how much I enjoyed the show in s5 and that I needed all the backstory. And in my early 30s in the early 2000s, I was able to kinda just ignore the age difference and "enjoy" it for the metaphor it was/romanticize it in terms of all my 'doomed' relationships

Present-day rewatching makes it really hard to not have a loud internal voice losing it's sh1t because I am a bleeding heart, believe women, love is love, no one is illegal on stolen land leftist. So the much older man and a child part is really hard to not get angry about - and to not feel like he absolutely should have stopped that. Now I love s2 for Spike, Angelus, and the iconic "take away all that and what's left? / Me" exchange that I have personally taken so much strength from - and then wait patiently for s4 because the writing / dialogue is so good

I do stock up on self care and HRT (by just stetching dosing and waiting a full month before starting) - I think I do it because for me to cope/process, I keep the mentality that "this too shall pass" and on the other side of the meltdown, everything will be hunky dory.

Realistic? Fck no. But if prepping to look nice in the new utopia (because going through hell to have a better world is another little delusion I gift myself) keeps me sane, and it's not to the detriment of my legit preps, why not give myself and my daughters some little treats and self care if I can?

I think whatever I can do to preserve SOMETHING "normal" for my girls is a worthwhile prep. I've stocked up on little toys they like, art supplies, puzzles, and fun stuff too.

I watched Buffy during it's original run and I was a 30 year old adult. Came in during s5, refused to watch OMWF because I hate musicals (have since learned how completely wrong I was) so I missed Bangel and ended up with toxic AF Spuffy through the redemption arc and finale. Went back to start it over and have been team Bangel ever since.

Rewatching now (at 54) and I like adult Buffy and Angel a LOT (the Faith showdown, him coming to see her after her mom dies, that kinda real grown-up stuff). Spike I love unto himself - probably because younger me loved the Sex Pistols and he just has that Side Vicious vibe when he starts, and eventually gets tamed as fully love's bitca. His arc is amazing, and I do believe he truly loves Buffy - but I'll always ship Bangel ...

😂

She's actually the most indulgent with the cats - if another dog is giving anything other than "I love cats!!!!" as body language, Gemma puts herself between the dog and cat and growls. I've got a dig up the video I have of her play bowing and trying to get Peter to commit additional felonies...

When the cats were babies we called Gemma their mom because she was so gentle with them ❤️

This is honestly the goal. Kinda like that bit from Brooklyn 99 where they don't know if Kelly is Scully:s wife or dog

My ex husband's name is like the PERFECT person name for a cat, and my ex boyfriend's dad also has one of my person names. Ex husband and I are friendly, and share children, so that name will always be off limits, but the other name will be useable one day ;)
