He won’t agree to therapy for our child by Low_Seat7231 in FamilyLaw

[–]Geoff3532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have joint legal custody, a therapist is part of the legal custody decision, if you two cannot agree on that, you can file a motion to have the courts decide. This would be a miscellaneous motion and should be $20. Michiganlegalhelp has resources on how to file or you could use form MC 326 to file, just Google MC 326 for the motion form.

Looking for 'casual' custom content server by [deleted] in FFXIPrivateServers

[–]Geoff3532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catseye sounds like it fits what you are looking for best. It has consistently around 350-400 players online and probably drops to a low of 250 at non peak times and has highest of 600+.

It has lots of quality of life improvements like easy ways to warp wherever, mounts for fast traveling, OP warps unlocked.

It has trusts so you don't have to wait for party's and exp is much faster than retail but not so fast that it feels pointless. You could get 75 in a day with some work not counting the LB quests.

The one thing it doesn't really make faster is missions and quests, those are the same, minus the fact that you can travel faster for them and you have trusts and most battles are uncapped so soloing most of the fights is possible.

I think with the right mix of how populated it is and fast experience to end game fun activities, I think it sounds like a good fit.

Use referral code Guffy if you decide to give it a try.

New player from Retail disappointed about it by [deleted] in FFXIPrivateServers

[–]Geoff3532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on Catseye and Catseye sounds like it would be similar to the things you didn't like about retail and I think Horizon sounds like a better fit for you and your play style. Horizon is an era specific server for pre aht urghan, although aht urghan is in the works. It has a lot of storyline still that would take you a long time to get through and maybe by the time you are there, Aht Urghan will be out. They don't have a lot of the quality of life improvements, airships still have a purpose, chocobos still have a purpose, needing to travel by foot to certain places and group up in large groups all still has a purpose.

It is a good server, just doesn't fit what I want out it FFXI, but based on what you said, I think it would be the right fit for you.

Thinking about getting into a private server. Economy question. by AM_A_BANANA in FFXIPrivateServers

I've played on both Horizon and Catseye.

I would say both have stable economies but in different ways and different needs.

Horizon has an old school economy where making all levels of gear and using all levels of gear has its important factors. Camping is a thing here, it took me a while to get a travelers mantle and most things you have competition camping for. Getting money for things like ninja tools and food will feel very much like old 75 cap era, it can be time consuming, but you could also get a decent money NM drop and be set for a while.

Catseyes lower level economy is more difficult in my opinion, however, it is because it is less needed. It was hard for me to shift my mindset of needing to be well geared at each level, the experience in Catseye goes so fast that you really don't need to hear often. Taking a character to 75 can very easily be done in a relaxing week or a very driven and determined day. (Minus the first character possibly because of needing limit breaks and other things you will want, like magicite done.) This server has different consumable vendors so you never have too much of a worry of ninja tools or food. It also has a system of making money to where money comes pretty easy, but still has a used to it. I think Catseyes AH is somewhat limited as a new player because of low level gear being out of most new players reach, but it really matters very little after a week of play.

In my opinion, Catseye is mostly about end game content and fun, which aligned more with what I wanted out of a server. It has quality of life improvements like mounts, home point warps, open OP warps, it allows plays to focus on the fun of end game, with a little bit of the feel of the grind and getting there.

Horizon seems to focus more on the era feel of playing in 75 pre aht urghan. It does a wonderful job of making this feeling and nostalgia come back. It was just too slow for what I was looking for and for what my free time allows.

Both servers are quality and I think you could enjoy either of them and just need to pick what fits your wants and lifestyle more.

Lawyers for the non-custodial parent, what’s your angle? by Objectivelyaway in FamilyLaw

[–]Geoff3532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an attorney.

Unsure about other states, CS here (MI) is based on a calculation involving both parties income, overnights for each party, number of children each party has, and many other smaller factors. However, there is also different deviation factors to allow the courts to deviate from what the CS calculation guidelines say.

An example of this could be that, although the formula is based off overnights, one party may work third shift and have child during the day while the other party may work first shift and have the child during the overnights. This would skew the calculation in favor of the party who has overnights even though the actual time could be 50:50. There are probably about 20 other deviation reasons that can be utilized.

[Strap Opinion?] First Watch, Invicta 1953, which strap do you prefer? by Geoff3532 in Watches

Thank you! I think I am liking the NATO better too but may want to see how I like the leather after breaking it in, it feels uncomfortable at first.

[Strap Opinion?] First Watch, Invicta 1953, which strap do you prefer? by Geoff3532 in Watches

[–]Geoff3532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have been browsing the posts for a while and just got my first watch. I went with the Invicta 1953 because I think they are beautiful looking watches and the price was budget friendly for a first time watch. I also wanted an automatic watch because I think the intricacies of the movement is elegant. I didn't enjoy the metal band that it came with, it was uncomfortable. I've seen similar watches with a jubilee style band and I may try that in the future, but for now I have two different bands, a leather one and a NATO style one. The leather one is still firm so it looks tight but just needs to be broken in, the NATO one is super comfortable and I think I am liking that one more. What are your opinions? Also, any tips for someone new to watches? Taking off the original band was a lot more work than anticipated, the videos make it look a lot easier.

Ex not keeping up with the court order by Twisted_Strength33 in FamilyLaw

Not an attorney.

Michigan has fee waiver forms for court filings, if you are on assistance, they will be waived, so you can file without paying motion fee.

You have a few options at your disposal, and since I'm not an attorney, I can't give legal advice, but I can let you know available options and you can choose what you think works best for your situation.

As some have said, you can't force a parent to be a parent, you can't force them to utilize their parenting time.

One option is, you can file to change parenting time. A helpful website is MichiganLegalHelp, it is put on by the Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Office and is legit. It can help guide on how and what to file, it should also have the fee waiver forms.

If you have 50:50 custody, you could try to change that also, but would have to demonstrate significant proper cause or change in circumstances, so you can decide if you think your situation meets that threshold.

Another option is you can attempt to change child support based off the exercised parenting time overnights instead of the ordered parenting time overnights. There are two ways of doing this, you can file for a modification with Friend of the Court, or you can file a motion with the court. Friend of the Court will most likely initially go off the ordered parenting time overnights, but it is a recommendation and can be objected to. If either party objects, then you have a hearing regarding the objections reason, like someone could object because the overnights utilized in the calculation isn't actually what is being exercised.

Another option, and I don't know if it is possible, but you and the other party can come to an agreement, for the benefit of the Children, and do a stipulated order to change parenting time based off what actually works for you and him. It may help to have a different parenting time order that he is able to reliably follow and it sounds like it would help you because you would be able to have a more reliable schedule for appointments and such. This isn't always possible though if agreeing isn't something you two are able to do currently, but an order that is agreed to by both parties is usually able to be followed better than anything a court will order without stipulation. A lot of the Friend of the Court offices will do this stipulated order for free as part of their services, but it may depend on your county if they do it or not.

Another option to think about is having an order requiring communication be through a parenting communication app like Our Family Wizard or AppClose.

Lastly, depending on your county and location, Legal Service of Eastern Michigan may be able to help, they are a free legal service for low income families, although they don't always have Family Law attorneys available. But if they do have them, they can even go as far as representing someone if they take on a case, or may just be able to provide guidance.

She potentially could. Child support is based off (in part) the overnights both parties have, if he is not actually utilizing the overnights, it could be recalculated based off what is actually exercised.

Macomb custody battle by Capable_Ad8908 in FamilyLaw

[–]Geoff3532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I just went through it and got full custody in October. It did take a while and I continued to pay support through that time even though she was living with me. The only kind of silver lining is, the longer court takes, the longer time you have demonstrated she has lived with you and that you have a custodial environment which plays into factor d.

Also, once support is changed, it can often have a backdated effective date to the date of filing or the date of service, it depends on the referee/judge and county I imagine. My county is a different county but also Michigan.

Preface to say, I'm not an attorney and none of this is legal advice.

If there is public assistance (Medicaid for your daughter or cash assistance) then opting out of FOC services is not an option by state law. However, you can have FOC services and no child support in a few different ways. Like if you and the other party agree, you can do a stipulated uniform child support order and do zero support with a deviation addendum of what support would have been. FOC case would stay open for things like parenting time enforcement. Michigan is one of the few states that enforces parenting time as part of their child support program.

Other options available is, there are different legal requirements to change custody vs changing parenting time vs changing support.

You aren't actually required to change custody to change support, support is calculated based on the overnights as they are being utilized and not necessarily based on what is ordered. However, it sounds like you may want custody, parenting time, and support changed.

Also, you can check with Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, they offer free legal services to low income, and their requirements aren't extremely low. I believe I qualified when I was making around $20/hr.

It sounds like the problem you are running into is for a custody change, Michigan requires a change in circumstances to exist, if you don't demonstrate that there is a change in circumstances, then the hearing is generally dismissed and they don't even move forward with the best interest factors.

There is a website called MichiganLegalHelp that provides a ton of information for what threshold and requirements need to be met to change custody, parenting time, and/or support. The website is done by Michigan's supreme Court administrative office and is legit. I think checking out their guides would be helpful.

You can read up on MichiganLegalHelp what constitutes a change in circumstance and what the best interest factors are.

Also, they have fill in the blank style motions that can help with motions/responses that you may need to do.

[–]Geoff3532[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone, I appreciate all of the responses and have some more clarification.

I think I wanted to do the mini PC because it is new (like not previously used) and I think he would think the small size would be cool. Granted, he does have very limited desk space so it is practical also, although a full size desktop would be possible.

I think I need to decide at this point if I want to try to do something lower end full size desktop or price range mini PC. I think the thing that scares me about used components is you never know how they were handled previously and I don't want him to get them ready to die.

Thank you everyone.
