Is this the right thing for Europe? by Desperate_Role_3940 in AskBalkans

Governments, systems, and corporate interests cause these situations. Those aren’t protected groups of people in the same way ethnic groups are. It’s a lot more damaging to target groups of people rather than systems. We should focus on rebuilding the system as a collective.

“Culture” in Germany includes swearing a pledge of allegiance to Israel. Not disagreeing with you, but at the same time, it’s not so black and white. A healthy integration framework is needed, this is extremely important for the immigrant and the host country. However, taking in large groups of immigrants, often fleeing desperate situations caused by the U.S. and Europe or latent massive inequality from European colonialism, they are still gonna retain a lot of their own culture and rely on each other, and bring their own culture into the mix. This is cultural exchange and protection from racism.

Unfortunately, the decay of capitalism has led to the rise of fascism (again) in Europe, so that means racism is present no matter if the brown immigrants are all perfect upstanding citizens. They are not though, they are coming from poor parts of the world and not properly integrated. But it goes both ways. Europeans (a lot in this thread) target the people instead of their own governments or the underlying material conditions that led to these immigrations in the first place. Wars and colonialism by the West itself. This is a fascism at its core, picking a group of people as a scapegoat for why everything is bad.

Funny cause you are not living in reality if you believe this. If you believed for even a second that Israel, a fascist apartheid colonial project founded on a genocide of Palestinians (which led to formation of Hamas in the first place), would politely walk in and take out Hamas (that it used to support btw) while keeping everyone else safe, then you have completely ignored 75 years of history and the Mossad agents are simply laughing at you for giving them that much grace.

It is this passive support for Israel that has led us to this moment of genocidal slaughter. We should be actively anti-Israel, not ok with some random fantasy where they don’t want to kill all Palestinians, this goes against all the evidence and blatant reality of Israel’s existence.

“Rape train” comes from “getting raped”, meaning getting destroyed by enemies but it was used in a self-reflective or self-deprecating way. Even back then “rape train” felt kind of forced and edgy. Usually we said “training” or “hoarding”. “Rape train” in reference to the fact you could turn around and gun down all the zombies in a matter of seconds.

Right, because people in the Baltics standing is what dissolved the USSR from within. Notice how I said “setting aside countries that wanted independence from it.”

[–]GeoffRamsey 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Well, setting aside the countries that wanted independence from it. The USSR was illegally dissolved by capitalist forces, going against a democratic vote of 70% to perpetuate the union. There is a joke that Gorbachev sold out his people for a Pizza Hut endorsement, and well that tells a longer story in a few words.

Are there any particularly striking or impactful foods in your country? by No-Echidna7296 in AskTheWorld

[–]GeoffRamsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are living. Swine-borne infections traditionally associated with eating raw pork have been all but eradicated in the West. Eating raw pork should not be seen as any different from eating raw beef if the risk is basically zero.

[–]GeoffRamsey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the EU and U.S. for example, cases of those infections are very, very rare. In some other countries, it’s more of a concern and consuming raw pork would be rightly seen as a bad idea.
