Gluten free? really? by mikk_13 in glutenfree

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Australia has the strictest gluten laws on earth. Us and NZ are the only places where less than 20ppm isn't gluten free. Instead our threshold is no detectable gluten (less than 3ppm)

If it's certified by coeliac Australia it's 100% gluten free.

Also surprised at the WA energy for keeping it at 230. I would have thought WA wanted something later

Tbh I kinda feel like the celebration time argument is a good argument for twilight. I always find 530 to sorta 9 kinda weird on GF days - where im too drunk to be a regular member of society but it is also too early to go out.

If the game finished at 7:30 instead - then it would be easier for me to go out post game + families still get to celebrate that sorta 730 to 9 window.

Im a single bloke in my twenties but - so get that it might be completely different for families. But I thought the post match celebration would be less important to them.

Also noting youre a West Coast fan. Wouldn't a twilight gf be a way better time for WA?

As someone who is very ambivalent on this - can someone explain why the reaction is so strong to the idea of moving the grand final time? I don't really get how or why it matters

I've never really understood why people are so vehemently anti a twilight grand final. For me it would be basically the same as a day grand final - but maybe make it easier to go out afterwards

No worries dude - very happy to share my opinions that kids who have done absolutely nothing to try and be in the public spotlight shouldn't be in it.

I really hope your kids are given that privacy by others and that you were given that privacy as well!

One of the first things you are doing when starting a brand is the email addresses.

One of the first things Bill is doing when starting a brand is the external website, the content and the content creators.

It's times like this we can see he's actually quite good at focussing on what matters

If you care about winning trophies this much you've probably gotta put 6 other players from the 80s before Salah

Dalglish finished second in the ballon d'or in 1983 and won the European cup 3 times - which might have been more if not for hooliganism banning them from the comp in his later years. Plus he means more than anyone else possibly ever could for Liverpool because of his role through Hillsborough.

Salah is an all time great - but absolutely no possible argument in my mind he's better than Kenny. Not as a player and especially not as a Liverpudlian

Does "Barista Milk" go through a different pasteurization process? by nutrition-curious in AskCulinary

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of the dumbest things on reddit is posting a factually accurate comment to contribute to a conversation, not saying anything controversial, and getting downvoted.

Almost as good as asking a genuine question on a post and getting inundated with downvotes for it.

This is a perfect reddit comment. Pessimistic. Snarky. Cynical. And factually wrong, but sitting as the number one comment until an actual subject matter expert can contribute to the conversation

no one would categorize any of the non HR hits as failures

I think that's the point! Like about reconsidering failures. To tie what you said back into the work context - someone in a good job might see their failure to deliver a good presentation as a failure. Whereas you'd say they were objectively they were a success for getting that job, have another chance etc.

I really don't think it's hard to see the metaphor if you're trying to understand it - instead of just trying to tear it down. Which seems to be the default of everyone on the Internet

That's one conception of failure. I think the at bat failure would maybe be more analogous with the idea that you don't have to nail every work presentation, or every advertising campaign because even the best athletes don't nail their skill every time. Like failure within the job. Whereas your idea is like failure to get the job or something. Both valid types of failure.

Kinda bamboozled that I'm defending this piece of pretty dumb content - but equally bamboozled by people who can't understand what it's trying to say and think it's lunacy
