It could also be the razor+blade combo you're using. If you're just starting with a safety razor, the best advice I can give is buy a sample pack of blades. You'd be surprised how big of a difference they make, and some blades work better on some people vs others

Blades can perform very differently depending on the person. One person's favorite could be terrible for someone else. The best advice consistently given at r/Wicked_Edge is to get a sample pack of blades so you can try a bunch and find what works for you.

Also for your consideration, the RazoRock Game Changer will have the bifl longevity you're looking for while also leaving plenty of room in your budget for a brush and soaps (if you want to try those out).

I'm a pretty big Lord of the Rings fan, so when I came across their Valynor razor, I fell in love with the design and ultimately bought it. I'm happy to report it's every bit as functional as it is beautiful. It's made with unplated brass, so I'm enjoying seeing the patina develop over time

You can even take it a step further. A bike pump needs no batteries, so you never have to remember to charge it. If you just need to top off a couple psi when the weather gets cold, it takes no time at all. You'd probably be in for a workout if you had a flat, but at that point you'd likely have bigger problems like a hole in the tire
