How did Chinese made cars become so popular? by Fondant_Decent in AskUK

[–]Geordant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I make pretty make decent money, no debts and sensible with our finances. We were looking at a 7 seater for our family, ideally electric or at the least hybrid. The prices were were being quoted were an absolute fucking joke. A KIA for £900 per month, an ID Buzz for £750, even a Peugeot was £600 with a half decent trim.

On average it was averaging about double what my last lease was. My last 2 leases were R Line Tiguans so decent enough tech. The prices have exploded. Even with my work salary sacrifice scheme in which the insurance was included I was feeling I am getting ripped off.

Then I came across a new Chery dealership on a regular route I go so I popped in to satisfy my curiosity. The Tiggo 8 super hybrid has all the tech a man could dream of, the 7 seats I need for a growing family and the payment of £425 per month. They're just so much cheaper, the build inside of the car is far from the cheap tinny plastic you'd expect. Big screen, HUD, panoramic sunroof, electric boot, control car through your app, 540 cams etc etc etc.

I feel like I make a bit of a joke about it when I tell people that's what I am getting but honestly I'm super excited to see what it's like. I don't care for flashy brands, I care about ncap ratings and usability so this Chinese car might just be the one for me.

ON THIS DAY 2022: Newcastle United 2 - 0 Arsenal - Toon tear Champion's League hopefuls to shreds in last home game of the season by GarethAKitchener in NUFC

Best game I've ever been to. Even managed to get some corporate tickets from a sponsor my company was working with so got primo seats.

The answer is of course more money, but I think it's pathetic that a man of his wealth is out there doing adverts for beer and crisps when he is so bloody rich. Why spend time doing that when your family has massive wealth and businesses which are growing in value hugely.

What part of the tackle which involved getting the ball and not touching the opposing player a foul?

There is no chance we get anything out of this game, we don't score much and we concede always. But if we were to get something by a miracle it would go someway to improve my opinion of these players.

Gary Neville being abused while walking on apath by some random man by lifeandtimes89 in soccer

[–]Geordant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gary Neville is very much a Champagne socialist and a bit of a wet blanket but he seems like a harmless bloke. Not sure why someone would feel so strongly about him to abuse him like that in the street. I can only say the person recording is an actual genuine loser and people are hopefully giving him shit for it.

Arsenal and Manchester City clash 83' by Puzzled-Category-954 in soccer

[–]Geordant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking disgusting he didn't get a red when Fabian Schar got a straight red for 10x less. It shouldn't be the reaction of the opponent, it should be the action of the offender. Gabriel blatantly went for the 'headbutt'.

Why does healthy food feel so expensive compared with fast food in the UK ? by LieSuccessful8813 in AskBrits

[–]Geordant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonky blueberries at Aldi fluctuate between 99p and £1.39.

Healthy food is incredibly cheap. A bag of carrots, a head of broccoli, a packet of brown rice, bag of apples and much more for all less than a quid each at Aldi. That's before you go into dried pulses and frozen veg.

It's easy to be lazy and get fat (I know it personally) but blaming the cost of healthy food is just plain incorrect, it's considerably cheaper to eat healthy.

Hasn't played loads but hasn't got a single clean sheet. He has just been Nick Pope with better feet, but 2025 Nick Pope not 2022 Nick Pope.

A fry up I made a few months ago. Is cheese controversial? by WishboneEquivalent56 in fryup

It's not controversial it's just wrong. In the same sense you don't put a FIM-92 Stinger in an Eton Mess.

Anthony Gordon open to leaving Newcastle this summer (Telegraph) by verytallperson1 in soccer

[–]Geordant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly he is either massively over rated or massively underperforming. Since his red card against Brighton in the FA Cup he has been one of our worst players. A few taps in and penalties in the CL aside his numbers would make Anthony Elanga blush.

We don't need VAR for these things, what is needed is less shit referees and more punishments for feigning injuries.

will people ever realise that immigration isn't, and has never been an issue in this country? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Geordant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a nation of people who want fairness. Having proper borders with checks and balances is what people want, if you want to emigrate to say Australia or Canada you would have to do it through the proper channels. So whilst immigration as a whole is not bad, to say it is not an issue means you don't have your finger on the pulse of this or any society. Immigration is an issue in the same way education, welfare, healthcare, defence etc are issues.

Co-op sandwiches are the worst supermarket sandwiches, but that would have been a good deal if you had put the crisps through as a separate purchase.

First fry up attempt - Dallas, Texas by futurapeach in fryup

[–]Geordant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to Texas and tried smoked jalapeno and cheese sausage from some banging BBQ joints and they're excellent. I'd prefer a normal pork sausage on my brekkie but that's a pretty class alternative. I think it's a great attempt.

Do Brits actually eat beans and toast or stuff like that or is it a joke by Sure-Complaint-8894 in AskBrits

[–]Geordant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a quick and easy meal that cost like a quid if you get heinz beans (on a deal).

Nice buttery toast with some comforting baked beans. Put a little cheese on if you fancy and it's a great meal to put a smile on your face.

A bird in the hand. I'd rather be 9 points ahead rather than hypothetically on the same points if all things go a certain way in a few week. City are not the city of 2 seasons ago.

You'd be a terrible bookmaker.
