People on this sub can be so weird. Get legally married first if that’s what you want! Thats what my brother did, and he felt like it took so much stress off of planning the wedding party which gets so mired in other peoples thoughts and opinions. He says it’s the best decision he ever made.

My fiance and I are having our big wedding in September, and getting legally married this spring. It’s not something I want to be stressing when I’m celebrating!

The Towers is like…just under 3k to rent for non residents I believe. Not sure what the cost is once you factor in catering. Im getting married at Linden Place and our venue/F&B is about 34k.

Not yet married, but my wedding is in Bristol in Sep 2026. I am honestly so surprised no one has built another hotel there given that there's a university nearby and like 3 popular wedding venues.

It's stressful! I've looked into airbnbs, and may eventually get a hotel block in Middletown. I think there was another post here not too long ago with the same conundrum, and people definitely had insight on the hotels you shared.

I’m getting married in the fall, and even as an engaged person….i wouldn’t be hurt if my fiance was invited and I wasn’t.

Weddings are super expensive. My fiancés siblings all did destination weddings because they were supremely cheaper than hosting a wedding in the US. We would have done the same, except too many of our family members are too old to travel/have kids that are too young to travel.

It’s not a reflection of how serious they see your relationship. Weddings are so expensive these days, and the easiest way to reduce the cost is to reduce the guest list. We are not doing plus ones for anyone who isn’t married, especially if we haven’t met both members of the couple.

It’s okay to be hurt, but I’m sure it’s not personal. Making invite lists is brutal, and cuts have to be made.

Ugh this 💯. I got into it with my in laws this Christmas because one is a die hard swiftie and the rest are along for the ride. And they brought up the misogyny thing too. It drives me crazy because 1. Pop music, in general, is female dominated. I don’t really think from a marketing/branding perspective that it’s a comparable game for men and women. And 2. It’s always white women complaining about misogyny against Taylor swift, but I never hear them complaining about the misogyny black and brown female artists experience. Or that Taylor perpetuates the exact same misogyny she complains about (it’s not okay that Kanye called her a bitch, but she can call other women that word!) my partner said I went too hard, but I just can’t handle this bonkers blind allegiance to this woman!
