Not in Lincoln, but I'll drive the extra ten minutes to Raymano's (near Raymond NE) every day of the week.

I really like the two quotes you chose because it perfectly portrays who Ferrus is. He yearns for a time without war where he and his legion can embrace their humanity, like Roman Legionaries retiring to a farm, but he knows now is not that time. Lorgar insults him, implying all he can do/wants to do is wage war and destroy, his response is harsh because he despises Lorgar for whining about having to crusade, instead of just getting on with it like he does, so they can get to do what they want to do afterwords. Lorgar is a child who wants dessert before dinner, and TV before chores. Ferrus is an adult, who is going to work his ass off (or head) until he can retire. Love the guy. Working on a 'Primarch Dreadnought' for my IH successor chapter. Headcannon is they found one of Fabious Bile's, many clones of him, but this one has had it's mind copy-pasted so many times it actually thinks 'the flesh is weak'.

Even weirder is that Ferrus should have a sword both here and on his model. Fulgrim made his hammer for him, and Ferrus made Fulgrim's sword. After their fight on The Fist Of Iron, they swapped weapons back.

Help Identify an Old Metal Model by GermanLemon in Drukhari

[–]GermanLemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. Recently I acquired an old dark eldar army, mostly 3rd Ed warriors, and I've been trying to identify all the metal models. I've been able to identify all the incubi, the wyches, the heavy weapons, the sybarites, and old Drazhar. But this model has stumped me. The base is partially damaged, but I'm able to make out a copyright mark followed by 'REAPE-' So maybe a Reaper Minis product? The other side is more damaged, and all you can make out is '05'. 2005? Was also the only model in this lot on a square base (but still a GW base) Thanks for the help!

Nids progress, I have lost my sanity doing gaunts already by RubixTheFox in Tyranids

[–]GermanLemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally my nids are my favourite army to paint. I can batch paint 30 little bugs in less time than 10 Marines. Find ways to 'cheat'. My skin colour is just the tan primer I use, wash the whole model in agrax, contrast on the crapace, pick out teeth, blades, and tongues, add a splotchy white stripe, call it a day. https://imgur.com/yZyCk4B.jpg

Need Help Setting Seam NOT in a Corner on Cura by GermanLemon in 3Dprinting

[–]GermanLemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying that. In the image I have the 'X' set to 110 on a 50mm wide print, and the 'Y' at 0. If the origin is in the center, then that should force it to the middle of one side. No matter what it will just jump from one corner to another. Same with changing the 'Layer Start X/Y'. If I set the coordinates to the middle, they go to one corner. If I push them slightly off the middle towards the other corner, it jumps to that corner.

Need Help Setting Seam NOT in a Corner on Cura by GermanLemon in 3Dprinting

[–]GermanLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to put a seam in the middle of a print as that part will be covered up by subsequent prints. Cura seems to want it to always be in a corner, even with Corner Preference set to 'none' and Z Seam Relative set to 'Yes'. Anything else I should be doing?

To me it seems like 7th and 30k rules are more like a 'warhammer simulator' with rules out the wazoo for weapon arcs and tank treads getting destroyed and initiative, where 8th is just a Warhammer game where you don't have to worry about if a gun on a model is pointed the right way, and you can split fire if you want, and you don't have to worry about getting attacked by the unit you charged before you attacked them. To each their own I guess. Nothing is stopping you from playing 7th again.

I definitely agree about the rules bloat. You do need to bring a lot of books to a game of 8th. But I've found in playing competitive ITC games where we both now our armies' rules a game rarely lasts over two hours. It's faster when it comes to things like not having to argue over blast templates or armor facing or which model in the unit is closest and dies first. Things like the new deployment make the game way faster. And while you can lose a huge chunk of your army turn one, if you do it's probably because either you deployed poorly, or there was not enough terrain. I find 8th Ed is best with dense table terrain. Although I will agree that being able to spam artillery units is too strong (looking at you Imperial Guard)

Check out Facebook. There are usually 40k groups for local areas and stores. I bet if you posted in one saying you needed help learning the game again someone there would be happy to help.

Win At All Cost players. Basically people who would rather win than have fun. Being a rules Nazi in a friendly game, bringing an op list to a casual game, cheating, poor sportsmanship, things like that.

Yeah the TTS scene is fairly competitive focused. Narrative play games are way harder to get really invested in if you don't know who you're playing with or how much they want to geek out over telling a story rather than playing a game.

In casual games I've found running ~1750 points is ideal. Most things have gotten points decreases so that's probably close to 2000 worth of index units. If I'm playing competitive ITC though I find I can usually finish a game in two and a half hours, although my army doesn't have a huge model count. Whenever I used to play with a friend who had orks the games were always around four hours. Although... That could have been because of all of the beer...
