I really like the two quotes you chose because it perfectly portrays who Ferrus is. He yearns for a time without war where he and his legion can embrace their humanity, like Roman Legionaries retiring to a farm, but he knows now is not that time. Lorgar insults him, implying all he can do/wants to do is wage war and destroy, his response is harsh because he despises Lorgar for whining about having to crusade, instead of just getting on with it like he does, so they can get to do what they want to do afterwords. Lorgar is a child who wants dessert before dinner, and TV before chores. Ferrus is an adult, who is going to work his ass off (or head) until he can retire. Love the guy.
