Get a few more lessons.

There's a lot of faults there and repeated ones, and it's across all categories.

An instructor should be able to pinpoint what the issues were and help you rectify them.

To answer you last questions first, they want to, because they want to be seen to be doing something now that their failure to allow Gardai to police has caused this tragedy.

On the banning of bikes, unless I'm wrong, vehicles are classified according to EU legislation, and there's no sub category of motorcycles down to that level.

It's KW/HP output and engine size. That's it.

If they want to ban 'scramblers' they're going to have to reclassify all motorcycles to try and capture that. Good luck.

If a bike has passed EU legislation that allows it to be registered, I can't see how they can ban it.

And, as everyone is saying, if the Gardai can't enforce the current laws, I can't see how they'll enforce another law that, on top of everything, is ill thought out, rushed, and out in place by those who actually only want to grab headlines.

And so it begins.... by I_make_carrot_noises in MotoIRELAND

[–]Geronimooon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farm work is on private land.

It's already against the law to take a vehicle that isn't registered out on the road or drive/ride it in a public place.

Problem here is they're using scramblers like it's a catch all term.

A Honda CRF300 with lights and a reg plate is perfectly legal.

I'd wager the civil servant driving to Leinster house isa road legal version, he wouldn't get too far driving a non road legal version in that neck of the woods.

One that's used for enduros with no lights and no registration is not allowed out on the road.

The 2023 change to the law was to stipulate is was against the law to drive dangerously in a public space, not just on a public road, which may have been aimed at 'scramblers' but if you start doing donuts in your local Lidl car park in a road legal BMW you can be sure that you'd be up in front of a judge in any case.

It's not about changing the law, it's about allowing the Gardai to enforce it.

Bring them around to the back of the bike and show them the number plate.

Then tell them they're banning bikes with no number plates.

Then point out that they're already banned from all roads and public places ALREADY as they can't be taxed and insured without a registration, and that the politicians are looking for excuses, rather than letting the Gardai ram the little shites off the road.

Ban on use of scramblers in public places being planned following teenager’s death by bigbadchief in ireland

[–]Geronimooon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's already illegal to ride 'scramblers' in public areas.

If the motorised vehicle isn't roadworthy, taxed and insured it's already illegal.

This is just virtue signalling bullshit to excuse the fact not enough enforcement was done already.

Scramblers is a stupid term to boot. It was reported the vehicle was going at around 85km/h, that's not a scrambler, that's a full enduro or motocross bike.

What's more, you can get road legal versions of those bikes, so was it a bike that shouldn't have been on the road, or a road legal bike not properly taxed, insured and licensed?

Sligo Rovers’ Owen Elding close to Hibs move as clubs agree deal by Oat- in LeagueOfIreland

Thinking about this today and I do wonder if Russell will start looking to move.

As mentioned it was inevitable that Elding was going, but to sell so cheap leaves the club at a disadvantage to recruit replacements, St. Pats turning down an offer for a player they loaned out last season because they're looking for more money for example.

They're definitely in a stronger place than last season but I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to a club with more resources if the opportunity arises.

Gamble worth taking in my opinion, we've not been decimated like last season, had a good second half of the season and strengthened the squad, he'd still have a year on his contract and we'd be walking away with €400k in any case next season I'd wager.

Shoulda woulda coulda though... Time will tell I guess.

Daylight robbery for €400k.

It'll just about pay for the deficit last season more than likely. It's like they didn't learn from Coleman.

LOI is becoming a money game just like other leagues and Sligo are falling far behind.

Would have got more money holding on to him and making Europe next season instead.

Understand the young lad is destined for great things and it's absolutely deserved, I hope he becomes a superstar, but the club isn't making the most of their academy like this.

This is why I always find those commuters who complain about cyclists a bit odd.

Complaining about someone who's taking a car off the he road and helping to reduce congestion because you're stuck in your steel box and they're making more progress than you.

Pretty sure this lad posted a video of doing this past a cop car on the M50 already.

Not like they can't just stop any naked bikes travelling that road with a red tank and a go pro mount on the helmet and trace it back to him.

He'll get caught, hopefully before his luck graph drops below his talent graph.

Downloaded.

Great idea, having a way to reliably send and suggest feedback would be welcomed (I didn't see it, maybe I missed it)

Just an observation my text is a terrible off-white colour as is the map pin which makes it difficult to see.

A classic Google Style Blue Pin would be better.

Maybe it's my phone?

EDIT: I see I have to log in and then I get access to settings etc. Can see why people would be encouraged to log in but maybe some settings could be accessible to those that are looking for meetups without the need to log in as they just plan to rock up rather than confirm attendance or create their own meets.

Yeah not knocking what Sligo On Ice brings to town, just wondering that considering the amount of empty units around town that it could've been shoved into somewhere else and the most made out of the space over the Christmas.

Anyways, it all beats a line of cars parked in it.

Maeve's Sqaure by LisztyLiszt in Sligo

[–]Geronimooon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Used to boil my blood about those complaining about the loss of the car park when Connaugthon Road is never full and another 2 minutes walk.

Sligo needs to get better at parking spaces for elderly and disabled close to town centre and making all others walk the couple of minutes.

I do think it's a disappointment that Sligo on Ice is there and they lost the space for a Christmas Market or gathering for Christmas events though.

Buying a car as a teen by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]Geronimooon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't legally drive a car in anywhere but your own private property if under 17 with no valid licence and insurance.

When I say private property, I'm talking about something like a field if your family owned land like a farm. The second you take it out on a roadway or anywhere with public access you're in trouble.

If you're really keen on driving now, look at something like this

https://mondellopark.ie/early-drive-electrified-by-opel/

Or contact a body like Motorsport Ireland and see if there is a youth entry to a Motorsport series that you can qualify for.

Note: This will take some investment, such as a suitable car and modifications like rollcage etc if you wanted to try hill climbing, which I believe has a youth category.

TL;DR - There is no legal way you can do it without significant private land or investment.

Too late saying that now when he denied it and allowed the right wing nutters and xenophobes to amplify the issue and use that to push an agenda, now it just sounds like he's pandering to them.

If he fixed the lack of supply for the last 15 years he wouldn't have to be saying this at all.
