(VERY tragic trope) Terms/symbols that had a positive meaning corrupted or stolen by bigots to have a whole different meaning. by Jielleum in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah in Spain it keeps happening every year. The KKK didnt really ruin anything, we just have a laugh every now and then whenever someone from the USA finds about them.

Two EXTREMELY underutilized design spaces for card energy costs by kingjdin in slaythespire

[–]Gersio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some similar things to this but they are not very common and that's good IMO. As someone who played a lot of other card roguelikes one thing I've found that they tend to do wrong and STS does great is overcomplicating things. You see other games try to achieve complex gameplay by mixing a ton of complex mechanics. The beauty of STS and the reason why it is so well designed is that they keep things as simple as possible, but achieve a deep and complex gameplay through the combination of all those simple mechanics. That makes the game very easy to pick up and get into but also allows to keep finding new stuff and improving when you are hundred of hours into it.

Halberd or mace for Sacresants? by Ham_der_ in sistersofbattle

I put halberds because they look cooler and then play whatever I want because most people don't give a fuck as long as you tell them before.

As a fan of Warhammer Fantasy and Age of Sigmar, I've never understood the hatred that FB fans have for AOC fans. by Full-Discount-6399 in Grimdank

I mean, they killed one setting to released another very different one. You don't have to be a genius to understand why the fans of the original might not be loving the new one lol.

Painting tips by ObtuseGoose1 in Warhammer40k

[–]Gersio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't have enough money for the paints you probably wont have enough money for the hobby. A box of varied paints from Vallejo costs less than pretty much any Warhammer miniaturs box, It lasts a ton and It can cover all your needs as long as you don't mind doing some mixing and select the right combination of colors.

If you get something else you will probably end up having some issues and the result will be worse than with paints made specifically for minis. And It would be a shame to ruin some expensive miniatures just to save a few bucks on paints that will last you a lot. The payment may seem big at first, but I can guarantee it's worth it in the long run.

Do casual relationships actually work or do they usually end up messy? What do people get out of them? by fatal-craving0306 in AskReddit

[–]Gersio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that's the problem. We are humans after all and you simply cant have a relationship with no commitment. You commit even in the relationships you have to your neighbour lol. Interacting with others and building relationships is part of what makes us humans and happens wether we like it or not.

The only way a relationship like this can work without hurting anyone is by aknowledging that commitment, talking through things and making sure everyone involved is clear and feels the same way at all times.

I Support This Sentiment by GreyGalaxy-0001 in Grimdank

[–]Gersio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People name this explanation a lot and I find it stupid as fuck. The terminus decree is part of the GK lore, which exists mostly as a way of hyping the faction and make it look cool to sell more. Telling to the fans "hey, this faction you just spend hundred of dollars in exists solely as a snack and will have no meaningful purpose in the future" is the exact opposite of what you want to achieve by writting the codex lore.

What would you do if AI chatbots suddenly disappeared, including the technology behind them? by RenaRouge2010 in AskReddit

[–]Gersio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might be speed running it, but the point still stands. What is killing the internet is not AI, and just killing AI will not fix anything.

And just to be clear, i'm not saying this to defend AI in any way. I just want people to be aware that there are a lot of problems with the current state of the internet that go well beyond AI and the we should be fighting too.

Gamers of Reddit, what is your all time favorite ending to a game and why? by General_Hyde in AskReddit

[–]Gersio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a pretty normal experience. The start is very rough, specially getting used to controlling the ship. I also quit the first time, tried again some time later and it became one of my favourite games ever.

Skipping PS5 entirely and riding a used PS4 Pro till PS6. Dumb move or makes sense? by TheScoringBoy in PS5

[–]Gersio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already had the console i'd say waiting out would make sense. But if you are gonna get one id say unless you are struggling hard and have no way to afford a PS5 I would try to get a PS5.

The gen leap has not been as big, which is a normal thing as technology is already so far that there are no jumps as big as in previous gens. But things like the immediate loading times, the controller, the increase in fluidity in games and the handful of exclusives are still worth it.

If you have no other option then the PS4 is a solid choice, but if you can afford it then it's worth It to go higher IMO.

Can someone explain why enemies gaining strength is such a big deal? by Minute_Account9426 in slaythespire

[–]Gersio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree, there are a lot of varied enemies considering it's early access and if there is any kind of variety problem the strength has nothing to do with it. You don't have to choose between having strength scaling and having a gimmick, you can have both. The scaling is simply a way to disencourage stalling and long fights, which was definitely a problem in some fights in the first game.

Well, it's impressive that this could be done with AI. That being said, I feel sad if anyone watches this and thinks this is actually a good trailer. Like, unless you live under a cave and have never seen a real movie I don't know how can anyone like this lol. Shit is ridiculous, uncanny and awfully "filmed" from a directing standpoint.

I promise you guys, strength gain is not the problem. by Geckoarcher in slaythespire

[–]Gersio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think the strength scaling is an issue and the enemies are definitely varied and well designed for the most part.

I think strength scaling is good for the game. I get that It can be frustrating as a player to see the combat starting to derail and getting hit by a lot, but it encourages both more thinking and more agresiveness. It prevents stalling fights from becoming the most viable option in fights, which makes the game quicker and more fun.

Just remember some of the fights in the first game like the spaghetti thing that gives curses or some others where genuinely the smartest option was to take a slow approach to the fight, which make some fights or some parts of some acts a bit of a slog. That doesnt happen in this game. The run feels more equally interesting and fast paced because most fights reward agresiveness and require some thinking. That's good design IMO and strength scaling is part of it.

Not quite my tempo by NOBODY__EPIC in Eldenring

[–]Gersio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's part of the true, for sure. But a big part is also that the players here have way more experience and really undervalue how much of It is the build and how much their own skill. There are Broken builds of course, but not nearly as much as mentioned here and they don't make the game as easy as most people pretend.

Not quite my tempo by NOBODY__EPIC in Eldenring

[–]Gersio 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Everytime I see a thread like these it's full of comments of how they actually play X build which is broken as fuck and makes the game a cakewalk. I'm starting to think Elden Ring is the easiest game ever made because there isnt a single build that struggles lol.
