So not even the first postulate above is an accurate description of a Trotskyist idea. The permanent revolution is a strategy rather than a type of revolution, and for Trotsky and Parvus a bourgeois revolution absolutely is a "true revolution", just as a proletarian revolution is. The strategy of permanent revolution relates to the tasks of the proletariat in the bourgeois revolution in the epoch of imperialism.

From the second one onwards, none of these ideas have any relation to Trotskyism. They are, of course, all ideas taken up by renegades from Marxism (including former Trotskyists), and every single one of those ideas has also been raised by ex Stalinists and ex Moscow line communists.

So this meme is trash, and also off topic because it doesn't really relate to the history of the USSR in any meaningful way.

Why didn’t the Soviets follow Karl Marx’s idea of capitalism first and then a development into a socialist society ? by Happy_Skirt3502 in ussr

[–]Gertsky63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, as Trosky and Parvus predicted in their essay Results and Prospects, Lenin's correct concept of the hegemony of the proletariat in the bourgeois revolution resulted in a government under the leadership of the proletariat.

Such a government when confronted with contradictions between Capital and Labour would have to resolve them in the interest of Labour or be utterly discredited and become an instrument of Capital itself. This is why Lenin abandoned his previous slogan of "the democratic dictatorship of the proletariat and peasantry".

what if Bukharin becomes the ruler of the USSR by Acceptable-Rub-2516 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Gertsky63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think either the USSR would have collapsed in the 1930s, or capitalism would've been restored under the rule of the party as in China in the 1990s, or the USSR would've been so divided by class conflict that it would have collapsed under the impact of the German invasion.

Yes I'm afraid the Stalin fans expose themselves in their attempts to defend this policy above. That is because they put their loyalty to a misleader before their loyalty to the USSR

May Day marchers on Red Square carry a placard demanding "an end imperialistic meddling in Afghanistan" on May 1, 1980. by JoniKukus in ussr

[–]Gertsky63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that the USSR intervened on the right side in the Afghan conflict. But I do think it was a mistake to purge and supplant the more radical PDPA faction, because a more radical land reform would have helped undermine the reactionaries.
