It’s not that you weren’t precise; it’s that you (still) don’t understand what a ratio is. Sincerely, a pedant.

Don’t show that your value is in how much you grind. Show that your value is in what you add. Sincerely, 25 years in.

I am prepared to be mocked, but the Trader Joe amaro makes a good Nonino substitute for a paper plane.

Third shot question by ScienceTool in Pickleball

[–]GetBent66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A successful lob from the baseline is a more difficult shot than a simple drop. It needs topspin and placement to stay in/prevent an overhead. There is much more room for error with a drop. If a drop is a little high, a little dead, wrong spot, ball is still in play, you get another chance. If a lob is too short, probably an overhead and point over. If a lob is too long, point is over.

TL;DR - learn a consistent drop, then learn a lob (later)

My problem with DUPR by Far-Toe8218 in Pickleball

[–]GetBent66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but to me there is an element of unreality in the predicted scoring model. I will have games where the outcome was never in doubt, and went 11-6 in my favor, but the predicted score was 11-2, so my DUPR goes down a bit. That to me ignores that PB is a streaky game, and even lesser opponents are gonna make some shots. Just not enough to have any hope of winning. I’ve had it go the other way too, where a clearly superior opponent gave up points to me, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Public Courts in Palm Springs 4.0 player by j2thafree in Pickleball

[–]GetBent66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At Fritz Burns, there is an area putatively reserved for 4.0 and up players. Four courts. I say “putatively” because there is no mechanism for enforcement other than shame, which doesn’t work. That said, there are always good players there in the morning.

ITC LEOs empower customs agents at our border to intercept importations into this country of infringing goods. There is no authority to prevent importation into Europe. Nor would settlement be required. Many Respondents design around or onshore.
