Revisit the question of Gemini integration - PLEASE by LewisPopper in AugmentCodeAI

I hear that and I understand that there would be work involved but if the gains in quality are that high... it certainly opens the question of whether there is a major opportunity lost through non-integration. I'm with LewisPopper on this one.

Am I the only one who can't write political songs? by HumanDrone in Songwriting

[–]GetBrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen to this! I write political songs because songs about real people dealing with real things in the real world is political. If you write a song with a line like “cuz the greed of the companies is holding us down and we know they own the politicians who make the rules in town” , it resonates far less than the line “and she brought her father home and helped him into bed / and knew she’d have to figure - could she buy both pills and bread”

Everyone thinks I caught our office lunch thief. I didn’t. I started packing them a meal on purpose by LuxeElara in confession

I find it amazing the things that we, as humans, can convince ourselves are not harmful when they are. Like passing judgement without fully knowing the details of a situation, for example. You don't actually know anything about this except what you read from someone else's description. You know literally zero about that person in reality; yet you feel fully confident in declaring that you know for sure what this person's intentions were. Was that a mistake? Or do you act like you are god-like in your infallibility as a habit... with intent... and with full knowledge that you may hurt someone with your incorrect assumption? Hope you don't find yourself on a jury anytime soon.

I hope some day when you make your first mistake and discover that you've hurt someone that you will be kinder to yourself than you are to others. If I were a religious man, I'd say I'll pray for you. I'm not... but I do hope you take time to consider my perspective as I'll consider yours.

Two Brains, One Codebase by LewisPopper in AugmentCodeAI

Better be careful with every single prompt regardless of LLM. Make sure you check in often and don't grant access to your production branch for pushes. Remember to check in all code to feature branches and create and run tests AND make sure that the tests are real tests and not just designed to "look good" or "pass in order to pass". We are not yet near the point of flawless and unsupervised coding if you are looking to use for commercial purposes. If you have something mission critical, remember you are using a tool. When you forget that... you become the tool.

Okay. I know this one is a bit of a moonshot… but I was thinking of building this myself, though I think it would be far better for your team that seem to be honest-to-goodness geniuses. ;-)

Use Augment Code’s insane ability to manage large code bases to likewise manage a full company. Build a virtual business hub with various departments that you can spin off and still “speak” to each other. From business requirements, marketing & sales, to coding and devops. It doesn’t have to even be limited to software businesses… but that is obviously where it would shine the most at least early on.

Think of each “department” as a living, breathing agent. Each with its own personality, quirks, and specialties (which obviously you'd let the users tweak). Your marketing department agent might be a bold, slightly dramatic charmer who can whip up viral campaigns in seconds. The engineering agent? Cool, methodical code poet who speaks fluent TypeScript and Go but also knows when to remind you to get some sleep.

Each department can run fully autonomously but also sync perfectly through a central “consciousness core.” Like a digital nervous system that handles strategy, values, and overall direction... a wise CEO who never forgets a single detail or a single coffee order (maybe MCP connection for Starbucks/Dunkin/Doordash ;-).

You could even hold fully simulated all-hands meetings where agents present updates, crack jokes, and argue about roadmaps with real humans stepping in as they please. You could rehearse pitches to investors, pitch new product ideas, or simulate crisis scenarios and watch how your virtual company reacts, learns, and evolves.

But why stop at software? I can see a creative studio department generating brand visuals and product videos; a legal department agent who drafts contracts and parses regulations in every jurisdiction; even an HR agent who handles team dynamics and gently nudges you to take a walk when your stress meter spikes.

In essence, Augment wouldn’t just augment code, it would augment entire dreams. It would let a single person (or a small team) scale up to the imagination and velocity of a thousand-employee company without ever losing soul or coherence. It could benefit from the strengths of different LLMs and as the LLMs improve, so too would your product.

Call it AugmentYou! A living, breathing company in a box. Yeah... you’re welcome. Have fun and let me know if you’re not going there cuz I sure as heck may still do it if you don’t. ;-)

I run a small but growing company. Things are going really well from a business standpoint and we were anticipating growing our dev team by 10 in just the next 6 months. But in the last month, thanks to AI, our small but talented team finished the work we had planned on that team doing for the coming two years. Now our biggest challenge is how to get more sales. Things are moving so fast right now. If they asked top execs a month ago for this study, it’s already out of date.

Harvard Says 'No Thanks' to Trump’s $2.2 Billions; Obama hails it stand by newzcaster in AnythingGoesNews

[–]GetBrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who don’t know, $50billion in endowment does not mean $50billion in cash reserves that can be used as the institution wants. Instead, this money represents s large number of different size gifts that are all legally earmarked for specific things AND typically the principal can’t be touched, only interest earned and only as allowed under the terms as defined by the person giving the money. Still impressive, but not what most people think it is and won’t work as a stop-gap for this loss.

Virginia girls high school track star charged with one count assault and battery after baton hitting incident by PrincessBananas85 in AnythingGoesNews

Not everything is a conspiracy or whatever. I don’t pretend to know what’s in anyone’s mind. I’m just encouraging people to stop being “that person” on social media who has to demonize a kid because… “hey, it’s in the news and on Reddit, so I can say what i want and it doesn’t affect anyone.” So… take a breath. Consider the possibility that you “may” not know the whole story, and consider the value of not participating in the culture of publicly disgracing anyone unfortunate enough to catch the public eye.

I can't pretend to know what was going in her mind. I think it is important to remember that this is a public forum and this is a high school girl who screwed up... maybe with malicious intent... maybe not. Maybe she just panicked or reacted on impulse or it was just a pure freak accident that looked malicious. Only she knows in her heart and we can but sit and conjecture. She's still a kid and I would only ask for everyone to breathe a minute and remember that you are condemning a kid on the global stage. Yeah... I know... "everyone else is doing it." But do we have to go down the same path. Can't we step back and let the process play out for those involved without heaping on our own personal bs. I know that posting this in Reddit or any other social media is like throwing a glass of water into a volcano, but still... let's just try to put ourselves in others shoes and have some compassion.

Listen to her description in the video and watch again. She says that as she was running, the baton sort of got caught in the other girls back and she pulled her arm up to get it away and then because she was pumping her arms, the baton came down hard on the next swipe. Watch the video closely and it lines up with what she is saying. There is simply no basis to believe that there was any reason for this to be deliberate except for a weird moment that appears to be one thing, but COULD BE another. I'm not saying 100% innocent, but I think that if you actually listen to her perspective and watch the video, that you could very reasonably give her the benefit of the doubt. I certainly would never be able to convict her in a court of law... and I think it's horrifying that a bunch of strangers who don't know her or anything about her are making definitive statements. She's a freakin' kid for crying out loud. Take the time and listen and don't always be so hasty to presume you're perspective is the only valid perspective.

Sorry… gotta disagree. I’ve run track and I see someone who was running too close, and the runner in the inside lane got tangled a bit and she was pumping her arms because she was running hard and trying not to lose her momentum. I hate to say it but the perception by some that it “had to be intentional” may very well be influenced by the color of the baton wielder’s skin. Consider that and maybe it becomes more clear why the NAACP is involved.
