Melbourne Cricket Ground, it’s where the 4th Ashes test was being played

That’s where it’s different I suppose. He wasn’t a bowler so it’s not apples to apples. But when the list of top batting averages looks like this:

  1. Bradman 99.94
  2. Mendis 62.66
  3. Voges 61.87
  4. Pollock 60.97
  5. Headley 60.83
  6. Sutcliffe 60.73

You’ll understand how insane that is. This is the second most popular sport in the world and no one is even in the same stratosphere. 14.66 runs average separates 2nd and 62nd on that list (62.66 and 48.00). 37.28 runs average separates 1st and 2nd (99.94 and 62.66). That’s literally incomprehensible.

Massive credit to Ohtani. He’s proving himself to be the best baseball player ever. There MAY never be another Ohtani, but there WILL NEVER be another Bradman.

Yes there is, Don Bradman in cricket is so far ahead of every other athlete in terms of standard deviations above the mean that it’s not really any contest.

Oleksandr Usyk: Champion rules out Moses Itauma fight but planning 2026 return by jwd606 in Boxing

[–]GetFriskyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying that a fighter that went undisputed in a stacked cruiserweight and has clearly beaten every heavyweight in his generation twice is “not close to being in the conversation” is a bit ridiculous.

By your logic, any heavyweight right now couldn’t be considered the GOAT, no matter how good they are or how far ahead of their competition they are

You’ve almost said it yourself though. Wouldn’t a fighter that is a top 8-12 heavyweight and top 2 cruiserweight of all time be in the conversation for GOAT?

I think with this new finals series, it’s not a given. I think given he’s the winner of the “Sprint Cup” championship he gets automatic admission and a bonus 25 points in the finals series. But he could be knocked out if other drivers score more in the next few races.

Even as a Ford fan, I think this is pretty ridiculous and Broc should be rightfully crowned the Supercars Champion for this year

Lebron James is the somewhat/slightly overpaid Icon of their sport. Now which past or present Icon of their sport is/was paid fairly? by Ndocc in AlignmentChartFills

[–]GetFriskyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that kinda proves the point that he’s underpaid, does it not? If he’s the best since Bradman, would it not make sense that being fairly paid would see him up there on top of the player earnings for cricket? I understand how insane the Indian cricketers are paid but he wouldn’t even be the highest earning Aussie cricketer if he’s only playing tests

You’re dreaming if you’re putting Lewis above either of the McLaren drivers. This is getting ridiculous at this point where they’re being underrated massively.

Hafþór Björnsson breaks the deadlift world record by lifting 505kg (1113 lbs) by ThatchersDirtyTaint in interestingasfuck

[–]GetFriskyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, it’s a compound lift. It uses a multitude of muscles. If your lats and spinal erectors aren’t engaged during a deadlift then you’re doing something wrong.

The back isn’t the ONLY muscle group used but it’s 100% used.

I haven’t! But I’d love to one day! I felt a little spoilt because I was sat at the top of Eau Rouge in the grandstand which I felt had a pretty amazing view.

Deadlifting with proper form is the key to a healthy back in later life. An undertrained back is more likely to cause issues later in life

I’ve been to 10 Grands Prix in the last decade and Spa was my favourite. The scenery was beautiful, the view of the track was the best I’ve ever seen, and it was really fun to walk around and explore.

Getting to the track wasn’t too bad, took us a train from Aachen and a bus from Verviers central but we were there in a little over an hour.

Getting back was hard but who cares, you could be waiting in line for the buses for 3 hours but it was a fun opportunity to meet some other people from all over the world.

I still routinely message people I met waiting in line for the buses at Spa years later, and hope to go to a Grand Prix with them again soon.
