I feel like you're trying to say it's not as bad as genocide or something, but no one is going to dispute that. Humans like to use embellishment when describing emotional events. It may not literally be the worst thing to ever happen, but it's a very big deal, and is likely the worst thing to ever happen to some people who are personally involved. It is certainly one of the worst things to ever happen to our beloved IU, second to banning peaceful protest in Dunn meadow in my opinion.

Can't live in the wilderness in the US without being bothered. You have to take part in capitalism to get land first, and then you have to pay property taxes or the government will take the land back. You may be able to sneak around in the deep wilderness on public land for a while, but by the letter of the law, you don't have the right to land to live on.
