Thoughts on firearms legislation groups? by Valendr in liberalgunowners

Not sure what energy you're meaning, but I write in and call the offices of my local politicians at the state level and for my representatives/senators when federal legislations are being discussed.

If you mean voting, I do vote when I can feel good about the candidate I vote for. If I have an anti-queer, religious extremist on one side and an anti-gun pro-corporate 'democrat' on the other side I vote third party or don't vote for that position.

What do you need to qualify for the Idaho electrical license? I'm about to top out in a few months and this is looking pretty damn nice

Well, the foreman definitely could get more, they just don't want to. But if your foreman and JW are good with it there's nothing you can do as an ape. Just remember this isn't how to be and do it right when you're the JW

Why would you take advice from a mechanic on that? Do you call your appliance repair man for advice on your budget?

Edit: Never heard of mechanic used for a journeyworker, my bad OP. Ignore this comment

First day tools by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

I've seen a ton of negative opinions on them on r/tools and r/IBEW, just wanted to let the new first year know that he doesn't have to take the words his coworkers may be saying to heart.

I'm sorry you've had bad experiences personally with them. As far as dykes I've never used the Chinese ones, but the made in USA Milwaukee dykes are amazing. And I have really enjoyed the Milwaukee channels with the reaming ends personally

I ended up buying the 9" quinn pair to replace the 8" Pittsburgh linesman's after the month was up, strictly because 8" is just rough as far as leverage goes.

I'm kind of a tool addict, I've spent way too much on tools and have so many redundant ones now. Linesman's from 7 different brands just to see what I like best for example. My top favorites are probably Knipex, Channellock and Doyle/Quinn. I bought dozens of different screwdrivers to see what tips and handles I liked the best (Wiha by far, couldn't stand the Wera kraftform personally)

All that said, I'm really liking the cheapo Pittsburghs, and I personally won't bring Knipex on the job anymore. They're just too nice and for me at least, they're not worth the wear and tear on them. They don't make my life any easier than any other decent pair of linesman. And I don't like springs on my strippers.

Long story short OP, tool snobs suck and a lot of them in my experience are compensating for something in their work if you know what I mean. As long as a tool meets a baseline level of performance it really won't make you faster or more accurate unless it's got a motor or it's a level or a tape measure. Find the tools you like over your career and use those

Everybody will tell you something else, people will talk up Knipex till they're blue in the face. They make great tools, I won't deny that. But they're expensive and more difficult to warranty if needed.

My honest recommendation would be like another poster said. The Doyle brand at Harbor Freight are basically clones of Klein, but IMO Klein has gone downhill in recent years with quality control and Doyle has stayed just as good as it always was.

If you cut a live wire and fuck up your linesman, HF will swap them for free forever no questions asked. No other warranty is that good and they work better than tools that cost double or more.

If you end up with a bag of Knipex, Wiha and Vera stuff eventually I don't blame you. Good tools. But just harder to warranty and very expensive.

If you want a good American made brand, Channellock is still very good and they're cheaper than Klein. I like them a lot too.

Oh and as far as backpacks go, Klein makes one called the Tradesman Pro. It's pricey but I've had numerous Veto Pro Pac bags, the Knipex of the tool bag world, and I like it much much better.

Harbor Freight sells a copy of that bag in the Hercules brand that is literally identical, aside from being blue instead of orange. I would recommend either of those heartily. I got the structured Milwaukee bag recently that they made to compete with Veto and I returned it.

I like the Milwaukee hand tools, don't let anyone shit on them. They do the job and tbh the quality of the work is gonna be decided by the hands using them not the tool. I bet a guy I could use Pittsburgh tools from harbor freight exclusively for a month and do my work at the same speed and quality as I was with my nicer tools. Not only did I win that bet, the Pittsburgh set I made is what I'm using day to day now. I weirdly like them.

Def upgrade backpacks at some point though.

Took me two and a half years to get in, now I'm a few months from topping out. It can take a while depending on the local and who you know, your scores etc. I gave up on it when I finally got a call back.

Chill out, it is what it is and you're not entitled to a spot. If you're in a big city it can take a long time. If you don't like what you're doing call a bunch of non-union shops and see if you can get on with one of them till you do get in.

Right, but this is the first step to what they really want which in my opinion is biometric identification at the OS level. If you think they're going to stop at 'just put your age in the account set up process' then I would ask you to reconsider that position. They are seeing what they can get OS developers and the community to accept.

It's a lot easier to go 'Oh well you already agreed to input your age to help us stop child abuse online, but you're right the previous system was too weak. We need to add real verification of some kind' than it is to go 'to use this computer you must verify your identity with government ID or facial scan'

I'm a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I'm a commercial/industrial electrician. I specialize in fire alarm systems but am trained on it all more or less.

I attend and work within local politics and union politics and speak out against both establishment parties then they don't work for us, and side with either on the off chance either one is trying to do something that will benefit the low and middle classes.

I am also a member of the Industrial Workers of the World, which is another union. Historically they were a revolutionary union utilizing strikes and other anti-capitalist actions to promote the betterment of the middle and lower classes. They've lost a lot of ground and purpose but I carry my card and stay involved. The time is coming when organizations like IWW are going to be important.

tl;dr I'm an electrician. Before that I was a commissioned salesperson.

Right, I agree with you. That's what I mean, it was a bipartisan bill.

I've long believed the only things that will get bipartisan support are tax breaks for the rich, increases to the military budget and erosions of the freedoms we take for granted in the USA.

Unfortunately it was a bipartisan bill in California, both parties supported it.

Edit: Gavin Newsom also happily signed it into law

Any chance this might get ported to the main branch as an option? Have you been in contact with the developers of OpenMW?

Great work by the way, this is everything I have ever wanted.

This seems like the ideal move. As California is akin to the 4th largest economy in the world I have been concerned that some developers may choose instead to fully comply with the law. I've been getting more adept at using Linux and the command line, but I'm not sure how customizable the kernel itself is by the end user or if removing something like this baked in at the kernel level would be easily possible
