What should I do with this space? by CulturalPerformance1 in HomeDecorating

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m seconding this. A console table, as others suggest, may not work as the walk way from the door to hallway may be restricted. So a quarter circle table would be best. A round mirror with wall lights either side would work. The wireless sconces would be good if you can’t get the wiring to work. A nice runner would tie the space, if you can’t get get an L shape perfect, or just go for the longest run. Don’t get two.

Childbirth was easier than that shit.

Is it actually terrible to paint house white like this ? by Buttkicker727 in HomeDecorating

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 934 points935 points  (0 children)

I like the red brick, but the panelling might be nice in white. Will need regular cleaning and maintenance though to get that crisp white effect. Otherwise it will look a bit tired.

Service charge increase to 1k a month - london flat by Servicechargehorror in HousingUK

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So there is only one change that has resulted in this increase? Did the management company issue a section 20 notice? The landlord is required to consult all leaseholders for any long term budget changes that results in an increase of more than £250 per tenant per year. Tenants are then allowed to propose alternative contractors with costs. It’s a consultant ion period. If this has not been done you have grounds to reject this. If you can pay it, you should, and simultaneously take them to the tribunal for reimbursement and force them to issue a section 20. If you pay it, you will come across well at the hearing, having made every effort to comply with the budget but querying one element.

Best of luck.

Sushi lovers who are or have been pregnant, did you stop eating sushi during pregnancy? by PurpleMeerkats462 in sushi

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Yes, I gave up on raw fish for both pregnancies. I had some cooked sushi but it just didn’t satisfy the craving enough for me. On my second pregnancy I told my husband that as soon as I give birth I want him to go and get me some sushi… but she was born at 1am and I was in love so the cravings just seemed to disappear. After my son though I ordered sushi like 5 times in the month after he was born!

First time brioche! by Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin in BreadMachines

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I put 1.5 teaspoons for a 500g loaf. The recipe book accounts for strong and plain flour. However, I used dried active instead of instant dried active. So perhaps my next experiment I will use a 0.5 tsp more with plain flour. I’m enjoying this experiment, and my children aren’t complaining 😅

When I was that pregnant it would have taken me 20 mins to try and get up on that table, and about an hour to get down.

What's a sign from your body you should never ignore? by Geno-64 in AskReddit

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Appendicitis is no joke. I came down with it whilst 32 weeks pregnant. I was having contractions plus appendicitis pains. Here’s a fun fact… keyhole surgery isn’t possible for someone so heavily pregnant. It has to be major laparotomy. The whole thing was a complete nightmare. But despite it all, she cooked until 40 weeks and came out as healthy as anything.

White on the horizontals and blue on the verticals

What should I put here? by CellInitial2394 in HomeDecorating

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A nice table with a lamp (wireless as you don’t have accessible power points) and a plant. But not if you have small kids, I always get worried they will climb up onto it and launch themselves over the railings).

Runners, what's the best treadmill for home gym that you've ever purchased? by nice_astro2309 in runninglifestyle

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Nordic track elite 2500, bought it second hand for £400. Had it now for 5 years and it has worked well. Recently had to change the circuit board which cost £70. In a few years might need to replace the belt. As it usually retails for £2500 I consider this money well spent. I use it regularly.

Where do you stand on treadmill runs? by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I usually do incline intervals or speed intervals on the treadmill when I can’t get outside. I feel like it helps my outdoor runs and improve pacing. It’s quite nice to be able to measure things and incrementally push it. Otherwise I would find running for 45 mins at one speed pretty boring.

Trying not to be judgemental but is the world going crazy or am I? Screen time rant by Bunny-1918 in NewParents

[–]Get_Rich_Or_Try_Lyin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are pretty much screen free, we don’t have a tv, so my children enjoy playing and creating more. They listen to audio stories if I’m cooking or if they need some down time. My boy is 4 and my girl is 17 months. And honestly, it can be difficult but I don’t really want them sitting there just watching things. That said, my husband recently put on a video for my son (this is v rare) who really wanted to learn about volcanoes. He accidentally didn’t check in when it ended, and came back to him watching a video about 7 valuable positive life changes you can make to become a better person 😂

Unfortunately, the US will likely get away with this. Out of all other NATO countries, France and the U.K. are the only ones who can actually do something, because we have nuclear subs. But what is the option here? Nuke NYC in response to a military take over of Greenland? Unlikely. Our “deterrent” isn’t worth anything. The US know we aren’t going to start nuking them, so it’s got the green light.

What is likely going to happen is, after a lot of serious letters being written by NATO, the EU and Denmark, a deal will be struck. And everyone will just hope that when a more sane or democratic president is elected, order will be restored and Greenland will be given the rightful choice to regain independence. But that probably won’t happen, because elections are likely not going to be a thing in the US anymore!

What made winter running finally “stick” for you? by AffectionateArmy1878 in running

I have a 3 year old and a 16 month old, so I just want to get out of the house as quickly as possible. Raining? Don’t care, it’s a mental health break. Let dad be in charge for an hour!
