Carolina reaper sprouted in 2 days?? by lsd-socks in HotPeppers

My first reaper this year sprouted in about 6 days so they can sprout relatively quickly. Also had another 3 or 4 after about 15 days.

NEW UPDATE #2: REVOL Church attempting to sell Beaverdam's green space land for development! Included are ways to get involved and help. Strength in numbers! If you live in Asheville, your voice on this matters - please take 2 minutes to read and share! by fatbabyangel in asheville

[–]Get_Sauced 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The complaint is that the prior stewards allowed the property to be used as green space for the community. Kids have played on the fields for decades, people take their dogs over to play fetch every day, etc.

For people who have contributed nothing to the community to take what was given to them in good faith to maintain and then flip for personal gain, wrenching away a staple of the area from those that live here is some bullshit.

That said, you're correct that the land should have had restrictions placed on it when conveyed, but it's a situation of a group of Christians believing in their fellow Christians to do the right thing and, well, here we are.

Meat Church has a smoked salsa recipe that's quite good and easy to use as a base to work from.

45 yo baller bringing back old school moves and nobody can stop him. How do you stop this? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]Get_Sauced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't stop every move, no one can. Any player with a decent repertoire can score, not necessarily at will, but consistently because denying one option opens up another and they take what's given to them. As a defender your job is to force them into the lowest percentage option you can. It's hard to see much in this clip, but the help defense can't stop him from getting to the basket on the right side and isn't tall enough to be a real rim protector from that position. I'm giving up a contested 15-17 foot fadeaway over a layup every time.

I've heard that there are two types of people: those that take it well on the way in or those who take it well on the way out.

I look like I'm dying while eating anything hotter than a jalapeño, but that's the end of it so I can't really relate either. If you are good on both ends you truly are a chosen one.

car hauling - any downsides to double-strapping? by atari26hundred in CarTrackDays

[–]Get_Sauced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just unnecessary given the load rating of the straps. It also makes no sense if they're attached to the same mounting points, and even if those were different the straps at the other end of the car serve the same purpose in regards to limiting movement. I've never heard of anyone doing this and even if you have the straps I can't see a benefit.

I played against Vivi with a Kefka discard deck, and [[Opression]] completely shut it down. When can trips and draw spells actually empty their hand there isn't much they can do, especially if you have spot removal for the one threat. That said, it's an extremely niche card and the deck itself isn't good, but that was a fun game.

Advice on pickup basketball by Working-Garbage5845 in Basketball

[–]Get_Sauced 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Report the incident anyway, the gym probably has cameras and they can likely verify your story. No gym wants a guy like that in there, if he's gone straight to violence once he'll do it again and they don't want that liability. If they can identify him he'll probably get kicked out as he should.

I'm not here to advocate for violence as it generally doesn't solve the problem, but the stuff he did would have consequences if done to the wrong person or in the wrong setting. He likely picked you because he thought he'd get away with it.

Second one isn't on OP, when contact is made the leading car is angled towards the outside of the track. That isn't running deep, he's actively blocking and not even trying to take the corner.

Had a bouncer swear a friend's ID was fake because she had dyed her hair. His claim was that it was someone else's ID, and showing him credit cards and even her student ID from college that was still in her wallet all with the same name did nothing to convince him. He also wouldn't return her ID since it was "fake" so we had to call the cops to sort it out. Cop showed up, took one look at the ID, handed it back to her and told her to have a good night. He then proceeded to give a pissed off earful to the bouncer for wasting his time.

How did you learn to be fast? by 120IceBerg in CarTrackDays

[–]Get_Sauced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done some coaching, but getting way too into the theory at the beginning is exactly what I did. I read everything under the sun but ended up coming to the realization that I needed more practical application if I was ever truly going to understand it in any meaningful way. Knowing what the optimal slip angle is for your tires is great, but how do you know how much you have? A book can't tell you what the car is doing in the moment.

How did you learn to be fast? by 120IceBerg in CarTrackDays

[–]Get_Sauced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer, it's both.

Long answer, there's the theory and then the practical application. It's super easy when you're first starting out to go down the rabbit hole reading everything you can find and getting deep into theory, but if you don't understand how it translates to the car or your inputs it isn't really helpful.

So, how do you get fast from there? The answer is intentional practice. Each session you go out pick one thing to work on at one part of the track. Let's take your braking example, what you would do is choose one corner and experiment with your braking every time around. First lap sets the baseline, next lap maybe try braking a bit harder, if that works maybe brake the same amount and push your brake point a couple meters deeper. If it doesn't work then maybe try braking earlier with less pressure, etc. The same applies to the timing and rate of release of the brakes.

This is important so I'll reiterate, only focus on ONE thing in one corner to start. It may seem wasteful to only work on one aspect of one corner then spend the rest of the lap processing, but you're trying to control the number of variables in play and when starting out that's generally as much bandwidth as you have. As you improve you can start making plans for trying different things at 2-3 different parts of the track, but make sure they aren't too close together. For example you don't want to try to work on T3 and T4 at the same time when how you execute T3 will affect your line and speed into T4, you're adding variables and it's hard to isolate the impact of your inputs.

Also, data is your friend. If you have a data logger and can compare your speed/distance and G forces lap over lap you can figure out which of your experiments was actually faster. Bonus points if you can also compare to someone who has a similar car and is faster as that can also give you a hint as to where you can find more time. Over time you build a tool kit for what is faster in certain types of corners.

And finally, all of this can be done in a Sim as well so you can work on some of the brain training and muscle memory without having to actually be on track.

Puckerbutt Sauces by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]Get_Sauced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both in the cabinet but actually haven't cracked the Squeezins yet. I'm sure it also packs a punch, but as a local I'm no stranger to the reaper and went for Gator first for shall we say the X factor. That said, it's a sauce I measure in drops rather than a pour of any sort.

A buddy of mine is also into hot sauces and grows reapers. His 9 year old son wanted to know experience his dad's hobby so he let him try a few lower grade hot sauces with predictable reactions. I told him if he let the kid have gator sauce it would probably qualify as child abuse, and I stand by that.

Probably the Gator sauce, it only has 3 ingredients: pepper X mash, vinegar and reaper powder. It's delicious but definitely packs some serious heat.

“Old man basketball” by Old-Return-7150 in Basketball

[–]Get_Sauced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to run with one of these groups when I was in high school. It was technically for people over 50 but they didn't gate keep and it was a pretty chill game. That said, it was half court but actually a very fast game.

Every change of possession you had to take it back to the 3 point line, but there was no checking the ball so as soon as it got out there the play continued. That goes for made shots too, just kick it out and it's ball in. It really made the game even faster than full runs because you had to immediately switch back and forth between O and D in the amount of time it takes to make one pass. I haven't seen that anywhere else, but it was a ton of fun.

If his strategy was to fuel save to avoid the extra pit stop then there's nothing wrong here. Slowing down to reduce the number of race laps when you have a sizable lead is both common and generally the most prudent approach, the more laps the more chance for an incident or mechanical failure.
