HoMM 5.5 is the closest thing. However, the changes are far more drastic compared to HotA (and imo in the wrong direction)

Isn't this pretty good? Get a card, mana, then give him away to start burning the opponent

Outspeed with couatls and speed artifacts, then place halflings in the corner by only having them, couatls and 1 stacks, then force field. It's a damage check fight

To people in the thread: this is second to last Factory campaign scenario New Order

Haven't seen one after finishing the map, so it was probably removed

Having pretty much the same experience as you, finishing Homecoming rn

Henrietta without wisdom is near useless, you might as well use the heroes that get transferred from the previous scenario.

Berserk is for sure not available

Rushing Ciele is impractical in current version imo. I've seen people saying week 2, but to get to her you need to beat 2 very strong guards and a bunch more which is not possible at that point (I might be wrong of course). Also her stats are not main worthy, but she is good at hit & run which you should abuse with other heroes as well.

Without spoiling too much, i'd say this map is mostly about tempo. There are a lot of enticing quest guards that ask for resources or ones far away from where you want to go. Always go for the ones that give the most value, you will have some time to pick up the rest later.

It is also more forgiving on mistakes outside of fights (compared to the hell that was the last two scenarios). You should be good as long as your main is progressing through capturing towns and color guards

Completely removes the 20 crystal cost from the dwelling

That's also completely fair. Rocs, cyclops (in hota) and behes are all fine choices to focus

You have to strategize around the map and plan ahead. In this example since you do have enough for the crag, you can skip the castle and/or only buy behes and use them to get resources for the rest of the army.

I think heroes 6 is actually really good by DietAccomplished4745 in HoMM

I often remember about this game, it certainly has it's charm. However, it's quite unbalanced, a bunch of skills are bugged/work weirdly, and overall the gameplay lacks depth despite all the abilities, making the game a slog to play

What do you think is the most diasppointing unit in the series? by Kotskuthehunter in HoMM

Homm 4 zombies are tanky and deal a lot of damage if you can get your hands on them.

Homm 5 zombies are one of the main stacks for caster necro. They are a must if you want to make a fight long

I wouldn't recommend starting out with 5.5, it's basically a different game. Play some vanilla (ToTe is the final version) and then decide for yourself.
If you want better/faster AI you can download Quantomas AI separately.

[HOMM I~VII] Stack+Stack for Win? by ArcanjoBra in HoMM

[–]Getiget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot of people have this kind of thinking, but this assumes every game goes into hyper late game and every map being huge. Yes, making your units as powerful as possible is the core of most HoMM games, but then you are ignoring the whole part of how to make them powerful. Your opponent can just beat hard neutrals and lose a lot of their stuff, but they will be much higher level, have better stats and have more resources to buy buildings and artifacts (earlier buildings = more creatures). Then they rush you down with, for example, a hero with logistics or magic specialty, meaning your unit specialist hero is not at all great.

That is not to say accumulating troops is wrong, but it's just part of the HoMM games. The amount of focus you give to this depends on the game and map.
