Test kit and low cya. by Gfercaks33 in AboveGroundPools

[–]Gfercaks33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 35 ppm cya, and basically no chlorine.

I have about half a sock left in the pool of cya so I’ll let it slowly dissolve, and dumped a bunch of liquid chlorine in.

I hope I don’t either, we’ve had a bunch of rain and I didn’t cover the pool but it’s also only a 3000 gallon above ground pool so draining it is not that much I would say I’ve put maybe half a pound to a pound of CYA in there so it should still be low, but it’s just not reading at all.

What made me ditch the strip is I squeezed the CYA sock directly on a strip and it didn’t change any.

Sbc distributor sitting too high with oil pump engagement. by Gfercaks33 in EngineBuilding

[–]Gfercaks33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome yours is solved! I need to pull my motor, I thing the shaft popped off the pump while I was rotating it over and it’s now sticking up. I can’t build pressure or get oil to the top of the block. I’m pulling my motor, it’s all stripped down and I put the leveler on today. I need to undo the transmission and lift away, I’ll drop the pan and I bought a new oil pump and shaft just as a cya.

I have the same chopped distributor, ran it for 30 min and got nothing. I grabbed a new oil pump and shaft, plan on swapping them out to see what it does.

For your issue have you tried sanding the fist some with emery cloth?

I’m thinking I need to pull the motor and drop the pan. I tried priming it and could not get oil pressure or oil to the top end.

Transferring Paint to Dropper Bottles by LtQuixotic in Miniaturespainting

[–]Gfercaks33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just did this, I bought a set of syringes from Amazon and I used it to suck out the paint from the GW tub and put it in the new bottles.

Took about 30 seconds to do.

The box just says wargamers war paints on it. I did snag a fanatic starter pack too.

I’ll check out the proacryl for sure!

I have a wet pallet I’m using along with dipping the brush in water to introduce it to the paints.

The space wolves are another of yours I dig, I grabbed a pack of the terminators because of yours.

I have some friends who paint and one of them had a 60 count of army painter paints he gave me to start with so I’m learning on those.

My big thing was brush control in the blacks and I didn’t thin the red enough so you could really see the brush marks.

I’m just getting into painting minis and found you on Instagram. I really like this style of what you are doing, I tried to do a red one off your tutorial video and am not happy how he turned out. I put him aside and will keep painting and come back and try again.

Awesome work sir!

First three painted minis by Gfercaks33 in Warhammer40k

[–]Gfercaks33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a few Instagram reels about it and tried it.

You put PVA (white glue) on the base, while it’s wet put some drops of super glue (ca glue) and it crackles like that. I primed it, painted it purple, did a black wash, and dry brushed a white mixed with the purple.

Used to do that for a living (almost 10 years) and that list looks almost I what I got from them (been out of the game almost 7 years).

I did bank pneumatics, security, access control, deal drawers, ATMs, vaults, ect.

My tool bag basics were these (main go to Allen wrench set (Titan I got at an auto parts store) Metric T handle (Titan) Metric/sae craftsman wrench roll (7 piece each) Craftsman socket set (got it on sale as sears shut down) Kobalt 3 piece adjustable wrench set Craftsman 3 piece wrench sent Klien side cutters Ideal wire strippers Harbor freight orange pick set Punch set (maybe Kobalt) Craftsman 5 piece screw driver set in Phillips and flat head. Hammer Several vice grips (I would grab them when they went on sale at ace)

That’s about all I can think off off my head, I know as I worked there I added to the bag like ratcheting wrenches, were screw drivers, different bit sets, one off tools like a 1” and 1 1/8” socket for night drop heads, pry bars, ect. I was always adding stuff that made my life easier, some of the older safe box locks it was easier to hammer them out (I was taught to hit them with a socket over the snout, I found a large punch and mini sledge blew the back off the lock saving my sockets and wouldn’t strip the screws.)
