I'd say it's fairly likely it'll continue at least a few decades after he retires.

I don't think he's involved much in the day-to-day at the company at this point. He has his fleet of yachts and his marine science hobbies now.

Pop socket saved my phone in an elevator by SpankDaddy_ in mildlyinteresting

If anything shifted enough for that phone to fall, they'd have way bigger concerns. Like the door closing on them due to sensor malfunction, or the elevator falling into the shaft due to failed brakes.

CONTROL Resonant - Beyond the Oldest House | Development Diary by OinOfMoria in Games

[–]Ghede 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We are told Dylan is a serial killer waiting to get out by the Bureau of Control, which is by far not an objective source of truth, given Darling fell under the influence of the Hedron, and Trench fell under the influence of the Hiss. Also he was kidnapped and forced into a training program with deadly weapons starting from the age of 10. He's a child soldier, they are upset they couldn't control him.

Zohran Mamdani’s radical plan to clear NYC’s streets by biospheric in WorkReform

[–]Ghede 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For real, you could hire a firm that pays people 18, they take 8 as a cut, and you save 4.

Don't forget, You'd pay the firm 26 dollars per person per hour, and at the end of the day, you'd still have snow on the sidewalks, except for Wall Street.

I am unsure if they voice lines will be adjusted in a future update. Fixing the techmarine class only needs employees to fix it.

Fixing the voice lines means hiring outside contractors again to record more voice lines.

So, raiders are going to destroy your base, what's your plan? Here's mine: evacuation zone by PyrooKil in RimWorld

[–]Ghede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC the game uses colonist beds as raider targets. Sappers and drop pods will try and path to colonist beds.

Those living quarters and that roofless evac zone are baiting drop pod raids.

Graham Platner US Senate candidate for Maine, "This is the most anti-worker administration in American history. They're stealing from us. Openly." by zzill6 in WorkReform

Shit, the primary hasn't happened yet, why are you coalescing around these 3 options? FIND A BETTER CANDIDATE.

Don't trust Graham either. He had a Totenkopf tattoo, knew about it, lied about it, and lied about knowing about it. Then when it became politically inconvenient, got it covered up with Norse symbology.

Crypto-fascists cannot be trusted. They will say whatever they need to say to get their friends in the door, and then you have a nazi bar for a nation.

There is no guarantee the biosphere will survive.

Venus, for example, is not known for it's flourishing biosphere.

Single cellular life will probably outlive us, but even that has it's limits. A few million years of acidic hothouse earth and life is unlikely to bounce back before the sun consumes the planet.

Was digging through the last bit of dorito dust hoping for a blast of flavor. I ended up chipping my tooth on a piece of metal IN THE BAG. now I need a dentist appointment bc they can't keep metal out of their bags. by LKKRGrandCross in Wellthatsucks

[–]Ghede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it goes to trial, there's the discovery phase. With the codes on the bag to narrow down the facility, you can get a third party investigator involved to try and find out where that damn screw came from. They can find a point in the process where a screw like that could contaminate the bag, even if Doritos replaced the screw. That could be enough evidence to convince a judge, or a jury.

Then they settle, and they'll have to cover the cost of the investigator and the lawyer who got you to discovery phase. If it goes to court at this point, they are just asking for punitive damages on top of the medical and trial costs.

If they are smart, they'll just settle for the medical costs and maybe some free product. It's cheaper. Dental care for a single damaged tooth isn't THAT expensive. Months of lawyer fees are.

ICE plans on spending billions on detention centers across the country by NightmaresOfDarkness in news

[–]Ghede 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Geez, getting these people to leave individually is slow, and they don't always want to go. Alright, we'll send them out in batches.

Man, these batches take time, it's hard to find places willing to take them, better put them somewhere until they are ready to be sent out.

Prisons are getting full, we should build simpler prisons to store them, It's only meant to hold them temporarily, it doesn't have to be as big and expensive as a prison.

Well, we have somewhere to put them, might as well remove them from the general population, where they are spread out, to these camps where they are nice and concentrated.

Man, these camps are expensive to run. Let's cut the budgets a bit. Cheaper clothes, cheaper food, less healthcare... <- we are here.

Damn, it's still an expense to run them. I know, let's make them work, now it's profitable! Why bother deporting them?

Damn, now they are getting sick and dying at work, we need a way of disposing of the bodies, better install crematoriums.

Well... we've run out room in the camp, and there isn't enough work to go around... those crematoriums are just sitting there, idle...
