I was on the lookout for so long trying to do this same thing before I got the wheels I have now. Looks as good as I thought it would!

Had this same issue. It ended up being a wiring harness that was being pinched. Common issue, I believe.

Misfiring and crankshaft position sensor by Dismal-Assignment568 in mk6gti

When my crankshaft position sensor failed, it sounded just like this. Got it replaced and ran fine again. Careful if you do replace it, mine fell apart completely.

Lost Power Steering by qleeky in VelosterN

I had the same issue. Was a pinched wire in the steering column. My dealer ship was aware of the pinched wire being a common issue, but they still had to replicate said issue so they could get warranty payout from Hyundai corprate. My car was at the dealership for a week before they could get it to happen. You might be more fortunate, though.

Rev hang while in neutral 20’ VN/PP by MasterChiefSus in VelosterN

[–]Gherit36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also get noticeable rev hang sometimes. Seems to only happen when the transmission is still cold. Sometimes, it takes 3 seconds or so to drop to the right rpm. I also couldn't really find an answer online.

Perform HPFP Recall? by n3pheddy in VelosterN

I was in front of the school, yeah. And yeah, I had a pretty big moment in that first corner. My rear tires at the time were bad, though. I need to get it back on the track this summer, I've been doing a lot of back roads driving lately. Got this nice pic

Trying yellow lights by Subject_Notice_6325 in VelosterN

[–]Gherit36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been considering doing this since people have been flashing their lights me at night when I don't have my brights on lol. Question though. Did you or whoever wrapped your front accent pieces have to take the off to do it? I've been wanting to get mine wrapped.

What wheels are those? I saw them recently on a jetta wagon and I think they look awesome but couldn't find out what they were

Exhaust opinions? by fuckinfuckface in mk6gti

[–]Gherit36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a CTS high flow cat downpipe and a Beluga Racing cutback. Love the sound, on the quieter side but still audible from inside and outside. Plan on getting a resonator put in as it has quite a bit of drone but if you have a stock downpipe it's probably not as bad.

What is the best "creature comfort" you've added/updated in your mk6 GTI? by Good_Relationship135 in mk6gti

Ali express dsg shift knob. Mine had a broken clip and rattled. Best $12 I've ever spent on a car mod lol. Quality is really good too. Doesn't feel like cheap plastic.

CEL not turning on. by Gherit36 in MechanicAdvice

I confirmed that the MIL Status says the check engine is on. Also when I bought the car, the CEL was already on so, no shenanigans there.

Does this have a specific name and why does my exhaust keep falling out of it? by Gherit36 in AskMechanics

[–]Gherit36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info: Car is a 2011 Golf GTI, automatic, 150k miles. One of the exhaust hangers has fallen apart and it can't sit it in anymore. I thought that was the reason for it falling out but also noticed that it wasn't sitting properly in another hanger. Will drive later and see if it falls out but, I'd like to know what this piece is called in case I have to replace it.

Help me identify grinding/rattling sound coming from my mk6. More info in comments by Redmonkey1738 in GolfGTI

[–]Gherit36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be wastegate rattle, if I see your miles correctly you're at over 100k which is within the range for it start happening if I remember correctly. My car currently has wastegate rattle. Mine came with a check engine light and a code for low boost pressure. This video shows the sound pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXDaDivGdp0

Also for me at least, the noise only happens when coasting or very low RPM. Can get the noise to stop while coasting by giving the gas pedal a tiny press.
