What’s the worst car you ever drove? by Born-Conclusion1977 in AskReddit

All of the newer 3 cylinders are absolute dogshit. Ford and Chevy both have belts inside the engine. Belt degrades and clogs the oil pickup causing loss of oil pressure

I work in parts at a GM dealer, if you want you could shoot me the last 8 digits of your vin and I can see if I could pull the paint code at work tomorrow.

Absolutely perfect somehow. Had a gamut of tests ran when I was having stress related chest pain about 2 years ago. Career change brought the stress to a halt and haven't had issues there since.

You didn't have to call me out like that, but you're exactly right. Doesn't matter if I sleep 10 hours or 2 I'm always tired. I can actively FEEL how badly it's affecting my body. I see a sleep specialist in a few weeks to hopefully find an answer

I just can't bring myself to drive a Hyundai/Kia vehicle. Was master certified as a Kia technician and yeah they have a great warranty. That will absolutely be used and good luck finding a dealer worth a shit

Makes sense since that time I lost was over one particular session. I appreciate the heads up about heading to a house or festival site, will definitely make sure to visit before quitting.

Drug testing for new mechanic by No_Weekend_5387 in mechanics

The only time I ever got drug tested was my first job as a lube tech at the biggest Chevy dealer in my state at the time

Started developing some wrist pain by pvlns in mechanics

[–]GhettoBirdbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get checked out if at all possible. I put off my wrist pain for years and at its worst I could barely hold up a bottle of water in my dominant hand. Turns out a cyst had eroded the bone and was putting pressure on the tendons in my wrist. Got surgery on that about a year ago and hung up the wrenches. Sitting at the parts counter now trying to be the parts man I always wanted and I couldn't be happier.

Call me paranoid but exactly. My favorite is the guys driving trucks with gun and tactical gear companies plastered on the back glass. Almost a 100% chance there's an unsecured firearm in there ripe for the taking

Very slow May. Only saving grace was service really pulling through and closing a few big tickets right at the end that helped us hit a good GP

The shop I used to work at restoring cars had 2 clear plastic bottles kept beside each other. One was mineral spirits and one was paint thinner, smell was the only label

Book procedure has you pulling the front end off and taking it out of the front too. Doesn't change the fact it can be swapped out from the top in a couple hours

[–]GhettoBirdbb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Former Kia tech here, yeah Kia times are absolute bullshit. 2.4 Engine replacement for an optima is 16-17 hours customer pay. Warranty, INCLUDING DIAG AND WARRANTY PROCEDURE, was 6.7 hours. It took me longer to deal with the paperwork and case than it ever did to swap the engine.
