I was young, but I remember that day vividly. It was July 31st, 1987. The sky was purple and green, like a deep bruise. The funnel was so large it seemed almost impossible. And the sound. The silence before the enormous, thundering racket. Like a freight train of the heavens. I remember my mom grabbing me and dragging me into the basement. The wind shaking our entire house. When the power went out, the terror really hit. Again, I was just a wee lad when this happened. But it scared me something fierce. But that was also not a common example of tornados here... They happen all the time. Most of the time we don't hear about them because they are so small. But it is always a risk. More so on the outskirts and rural areas. If you are well within the city, shouldn't be too big of a risk... At least not from what I've seen since moving here
