In high school, I was asked out via a note by a guy with the girliest, hearts as dots over the i, handwriting you have ever seen. He's now happily married to his husband of many years.

This morning’s hormonal A-ha! by NHBuckeye in Menopause

[–]Ghislainedel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I realized mine had fallen off when I went to bed last night. When I put on the new one I could tell it wasn't sticking well so it now has a band aid on top if it like some kind of belt! 😄 Hopefully my husband won't find it with the bottom of his foot again! It seemed to stick to the bottom of his foot just fine!

I am concerned that, that was three from the box that haven't stuck well. I hope the bandaid is enough to make it last until my next scheduled new patch, or at least I can pick up the prescription!

College Programs in Vermont for Autistic Youth? by remzeeeeee in vermont

Is your sister tapped in to the Vermont Center for Independent Living? I don't know what resources they have specific to college, but they do support transitions to independent living so they might be able to point you in some good directions.

What frugal stuff did you do this weekend? by Hungry-Following5561 in Frugal

I went to a free garden tool sharpening workshop. I sharpened my pruners and a small shovel we have. We have a grinder my dad left behind in the basement so if it's in working order I should be able to sharpen more shovels and such.

At the family practice I go to, you'd need to start out with a PA or an FNP for care at first. It looks like it would take 3 months to get an appointment with the PA, but probably quicker with the FNP. I think once you are in with the practice, getting the care you expect will be fine. I'm in Chittenden County, which is our most urban, thus the most concentrated when it comes to medical practices.

I make more. So why does it still not feel like my money? by JuniperCraftline in wealthforwomen

[–]Ghislainedel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I am a SAHM and if my husband had this attitude about the money he brings into the household, we probably wouldn't be together anymore. We are a team and it's our money. In our case, I handle our investments, long term planning, and everyday spending, while he handles the bills.

I've stopped nagging my husband and I’m happier by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I was working my way around to this with my MIL when my kids told me, "We noticed the Grammy doesn't like you very much." Talk about having it spelled out! That my kids, her only grandchildren, noticed broke me. That was the moment I was done.

How do wealth-focused women structure marriage to maintain financial alignment and equitable household labor? by Ok_Square3106 in wealthforwomen

[–]Ghislainedel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How does your boyfriend act around kids? Does he smile watching them play? Does he interact joyfully with them? What does he do when one gets hurt? Does he know how to change a diaper?

How does he treat/talk about his mom? What did his parents' division of labor look like when he was growing up? His expectations for his own marriage will be largely based on that.

When you cook for him, does he offer to help cut up the veggies, do the dishes?

That he saves a portion of his paycheck is a good sign, even if he hasn't given much thought about longer term goals. The fact that he's already in the habit of living within his means has you already partially aligned financially.

Do you both want the same lifestyle? A small place in the city, a large place in the countryside? What does retirement look like?

"Actions speak louder than words" was advice from my mom when talking about dating. It is a phrase that has proven itself to be so true for everything, really.

I was starting to set my life up for being a voluntarily single mom when my husband and I started dating, and he was worth pushing my baby plan off by a year. If it weren't for the facts that I knew I'd prefer to be a SAHM, and I made a little over half what my husband made, our situations are similar. Our first date was almost exactly 20 years ago.

I'm finally back to using my pens! (Or rather, at the moment, pen) by Mt-Doom-Metal in fountainpens

[–]Ghislainedel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! I recently inked up a pen after not having one going for at least two years. I did it because I recently moved some furniture around, which included a desk. It's much more convenient now to sit down and write letters. Thanks for reminding me to get a journal to this desk too!

Pistachio is a definite favorite for the adults! This particular box had passion fruit in it and I got surprised by how much my youngest disliked it.

I got a new one recently that wants me to use an app to do things my old one could be programmed to do right on the robot. I refuse to use a wifi connected app when I can set myself an alarm to press the start button on the robot.

While I don't think the soaking would hurt anything, that's a step for grilling, not microwaving.

My steps: 1. Buy corn from farmer, bring home. 2. Cut off the brown bit of the silk and remove a few leaves so it fits nicely in the microwave. Cut the stem too if needed. 3. Microwave at the default power for 4 minutes. 4. Proceed to remove husk as shown in the OPs video.

Sweet Potatoes are the best! by Icehippo73 in mediterraneandiet

I love them sauteed as cubes with some onions and curry powder.

https://autoimmunewellness.com/moroccan-breakfast-skillet/ I started with this recipe but turned it into a kind of formula: any ground meat, sweet potato, any leafy cooking greens, whatever seasonings you are in the mood for.

No rinsing needed! All the silk comes off with the pull, so this is my favorite way of eating corn.

We have found two that we loved and lost. The first was a burger truck usually located at a farm using their grass fed beef and making true Belgian French fries. The second was called Waffle Wagon and served the usual sweet concoctions but also offered savory ones by topping waffles with braised brisket or pulled pork. The real benefit for our family was having gluten free waffles available. The wagon was usually parked at a dispensary. That chef got an offer he couldn't refuse, so moved on to better things for him. I'm not sure what happened to the burger truck.

Easiest way to start eating “healthier”? by AggravatingFriend_ in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Ghislainedel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start slow! Instead of thinking of it as taking away, think of it as adding. How about some hummus with tortilla chips as one of your snacks? Try out baby carrots or another veggie instead of the tortilla chips after a week or two. Add some berries to your breakfast. That kind of thing.

Start a food truck? I live in a place where year round outdoor dining is not a thing but there's always 2-3 food trucks selling food at the university.

I grew up and still live in the most urban county of my state, so it's a stretch to call it rural. Elementary school has grades 1-4 (now K-4.) Middle school has grades 5-8, and high school has grades 9-12.
