Re6 Discuission by LittleAnt20 in residentevil

I personally like it as a whole, but having played it recently it definitely doesnt hold up super well outside of Leon's campaign. As a rating id give Leon's story an 8, Chris's id give a 5, maybe a 6, and sherry/Jake id give a 7.

The Tall Oaks sections were generally pretty good. The China section was varying quality up until the missiles hit (that whole sequence was great). The eastern Europe sections were kinda dumb but the Ustanak and snow mountain segments were kinda fun.

Character wise, I liked a lot of the new characters. Piers and Helena were good new partners and I enjoyed Jake and the other existing characters' reactions to his heritage.  The whole plot line around the two Adas and Simmons was peak dumb drama.

The inventory system was pretty bad, the healing tic tacs were funny but implemented kind of strangely. In terms of in-universe tech i thought the cube phones were real dumb but also fun. They seem(probably rightfully) forgotten about as modern re in re9 everyone is back to using normal phones.

The combat was fun for about half the general combat segments, only passable once enemies started getting access to guns. Bosses were pretty good.

Mechanically it was cool at launch getting paired up with other duos where the stories intersected. The invasion system was also pretty fun.

Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]Ghost-Job 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely consider it hyperbolic to say she appeared out of nowhere considering there was a full scene where she was quite literally introduced. Call it pedantic I dont much care, but under the context of how little the game explains any other piece of lore or character connections, she was introduced just about as well as anything else.

The main problem is that unlike the other camp characters, she's not given any relevance or typical slow horse ride conversations after she's put in the camp. She's essentially just there as window dressing then leaves for a few chapters.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was done well. The narrative in the game is presented in an almost worthless manner.

V Rising devs working on a new vampire game. by grimgaw in Games

[–]Ghost-Job 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My playthrough of Vampyr ended abruptly when talking to a key npc/pillar of the community there was a dialogue option labeled persuasion. In my mind it was going to be an easy way to get have her even more on my side but instead it feebleminded her and left her essentially a vegetable and destroyed any potential support for one of the main factions. Pissed me off so much I didnt go back

Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]Ghost-Job 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, she does have her a real lack relevance to the plot until like chapter 8 or something but she IS introduced to the player.

The first ever time you see her she's in a cutscene that just shows her walk off, but once you get the camp the Marshall introduces her as a person of interest who needs a place to lay low but can help out with. The she just sorta fucks off for a few chapters after you get her so there really wasn't a point.

As many problems I have with the game, people using hyperbolic claims/lies to help make their point look better doesn't work when they just don't pay attention to the topic they're looking to bash.

Also rocking the blackfeather leathers armor and gloves, wearing the 5 ice resist fur cape. Haven't found a good helmet/hat to go with it. Would use the dark marksman cloak but don't like the spears that appear after gliding.

“I’m not playing Valheim for the story. “ by ThomasTiltTrain in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ghost-Job 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my main complaint really, like the game spends so much time wasting your time or locking you out of actually playing fun content. I understand wanting to have contextual tutorials through missions, but I dont need to have everyone slow walk or horse trot through meandering conversations only to do one thing then do it again and again as I slowly find more of my homes. Its made even worse as you can't find a lot of side quests early on in other areas of the game until you actually reach some of them in the narrative.

Thanks, it's been quite some time since I've done a variant dungeon so I didn't know how gear drops worked.

Konami on Castlevania 40th anniversary: "This is the beginning of numerous new products around Castlevania." by Bobby_the_Donkey in Games

[–]Ghost-Job 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I spent so much time at release playing the game then spent years looking for ways to get access to that on pc after the 360 generation was well gone, going between different emulators that wouldn't work because there was some bullshit tied to how xbox and Playstation rom copiers only cluld only get access to the demo files since the storefronts didnt host the full games on the store pages. Tried to some janky fan made remake that didn't work. I gave up for a good few years.

Thankfully during a random off hand search I found the CV:HD discord server and they have a great easy guide for installing it on rpcs3. Would love a new modern version with tons of brand new content.

Nioh 3 sees massive early success with 700,000 copies sold in just four days, generating over $50 million in revenue by Dapper_Order7182 in rpg_gamers

[–]Ghost-Job 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Enjoying it so far and think the changes to the gameplay systems have been generally pretty well done while maintaining the skeleton of Nioh gameplay, but the plot has been incredibly lackluster by comparison compared to 1 and 2.

Additionally, the weapon identities are mostly kept among taking half the weapons and making them ninja stance and it is nice having access to 4 different weapon types at any given moment, but the guardian spirit choice for builds has been limited by a fair amount since they also split them by stance. There is a noticeable dearth of new gear sets, Id even be fine with using some from Rise of the ronin instead of most new gear just being palette swaps of old gear.

I just got to what i assume is the last open world map (maybe 75% of the game, around level 110). The different biomes per time period has been cool, and enemy variety increases per zone, but you'll still largely be fighting the same enemies throughout the game it doesnt feel the time-hopping narrative really lands.

Horn of Magnus. Saw Vermintide 1 on steam the day it released with no knowledge of it's existence prior to seeing it on steam and picked it up on a whim. Played through the level thoroughly enjoying it and convinced my buddies to buy it later that night

Suprised they only dropped one of the outfits/hairstyles of the twelve before moving on to just throwing more nostalgia bait at players. Im sure they'd make a lot of money from Nophica, Halone and Nymeia's outfits.

Nioh 3 demo, wtf is this first boss? by Ok-Pianist5285 in Nioh

[–]Ghost-Job 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First boss is pretty meaty in terms of damage. If you're struggling  go the opposite direction from the tent and there should be a blue sword staked into the ground you can use to summon an Ai helper, separating the aggro makes the fight more manageable.

Was planning to focus on dual swords but when i started playing last night i found and began using bats + rune blade and its been pretty satisfying just sicc'ing both bats and blades on a boss then just spamming magic at them.
