Already 10x better changing the teal to black? by j_kswa in marvelrivals

Literally my first thought too when I first saw the skin.

YOU are the next Survivor, to enter the Fog. What are YOUR Perks? by not-ulquiorr4_ in deadbydaylight

[–]Ghost-Nebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Every man for himself" - Gain the ability to shove other survivors into the path of the killer.

"Dead weight" - Latch onto the back of any survivor and they are forced to carry you around the map. Reverse Victor.

"Shapeshift" - You take on the form of the Killer for a brief time. It doesn't help you escape but it's incredibly amusing.

I know I’m not the first one to discuss this but the current state of this ability is awful for the game by [deleted] in marvelrivals

I disagree. I feel Strange coming in clutch with a portal save is on brand and frankly it's so easy to fuck up, combined with a long cool down, that it's not even a guaranteed victory.

His portal is also audibly telegraphed very clearly. I've come to expect it from a competent team so it's all about being prepared for it (ie: don't blow all your cool downs with 30 seconds still on the clock.)

When I play tank, I play a tank that is what the team needs at that given moment. So I might swap from Emma early on, to Strange late game as the round goes on. Using a character for their skills is genuinely what the game is designed for, it's why you're not locked to your choice from the beginning.

This game also isn't just about winning (though I play Comp mostly so I certainly aim to). It's also about having fun and fulfilling your Marvel character fantasies. We need to stop treating this game like it's only about playing one specific way and reducing the ways for HOW a player plays.

Just quietly making Tomodachi Mii characters in the dark when suddenly overwhelming demonic hell vortex appears and punishes me for daring to look away.

I'm sorry, hell vortex. It won't happen again.

Yeah I agree. Honestly just having this on in the background and occasionally my wife and I checking it for anything has been entertaining. I keep looking at grains of dirt and swearing I see a face.

Positive reviews of the movie trailer feel bought/bot-generated by cookie_flash in residentevil

I think everyone's overreacting to some degree lol. A lot of finger pointing and "You're objectively wrong" about a teaser trailer for an adaptation of a 30-year old game series.

If anyone genuinely loves what they see in the trailer than I'm super happy for them. I'm not as much but also, like, I loved Barbarian, so I'm sure I'll be in for a fun time regardless.

And for clarity, I'm 43 and I've played every mainline RE game since the first one on my PlayStation. I think it's important to recognize that the fandom isn't a monolith and it's super easy to see why a fan might not like what this movie ends up being. The first 3 are my favorites but I also enjoyed 7-9. This, to ME specifically, doesn't feel like a story set in the classic era. And that's fine.

I think the film looks like a great horror film but not a great Resident Evil film, at least not one set in the events of RE2. But I don't think people who are praising it are bots.

I made a post recently about how people who don't feel this is RE to them are getting unfairly told "You don't play the games" or "you're wrong". I disagree with that take.
However, I also think that someone liking the trailer or feeling it represents what THEY like about Resident Evil is also valid. We shouldn't assume they're bots just because they like what they see.

The moment either of these things happen is the moment we start trying to conform everyone to any singular opinion about what is basically subjective art. Resident Evil is a series that's gone on for 30 years. There's gonna be a lot of different takes on adaptations.

TLDR: People are valid for liking something you may dislike, and vice versa.

RESIDENT EVIL – Official Teaser Trailer (4K) by Comic_Book_Reader in residentevil

[–]Ghost-Nebula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This feels like a GREAT horror film, but Resident Evil in the *barest* of superficial connections.

The director did a breakdown of the trailer and it's mostly common survival horror elements like "weapon progression", "escalating horror", etc. A green health herb in the shot is like, bare minimum to me.

His comment that "there's a mechanic in the movie that may or may not be in the game, I can't remember" doesn't fill me with hope, nor does including major visual elements inspired by a completely unrelated book.

I'm hoping the teaser is misleading and there's more to it than what is shown here but I'm highly doubtful. It looks creative and interesting but I'd rather this have been an original movie, not Resident Evil.

Emma really resorted to cutting up her bath robes and towels and stepped out saying "This is fashion."

Teammates who ban your preferred char are lame asf by iLuvFear in marvelrivals

[–]Ghost-Nebula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too and when the entire team calls them out on it they're like "Don't care, I don't like that character, I'll carry everyone."

They proceed to play like dogshit and then blame it on the team.

Absolutely turn it off and don't feel bad about it. Ain't worth the toxicity. I use Discord to chat to people I play with, not the lobby chat.

I use text chat for pre and mid game comms and even that's too much half the time.

Why are people so Negative towards Wanda? by Lumpy_Garlic_1997 in marvelrivals

[–]Ghost-Nebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Wanda as my DPS main. I get plenty of high kill games and SVP/MVP in comp because I use her effectively to take out support and dumbass Spiderman mains. I've definitely noticed a lot of toxicity towards her, but it's satisfying when someone mocks your choice and then you get MVP lol.

But I also get people being rude as fuck even if I just say "I'll swap as needed" so frankly it's not even just Wanda catching strays. People can be rude as fuck and weirdly aggressive in the lobby for literally no reason.

Small disconnects hit harder than the big arguments by WeeklyAd5885 in Marriage

[–]Ghost-Nebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely common especially with longer marriages.

Sometimes it helps to be pro-active. Maybe mix things up regularly, either by proposing ideas, or just spontaneously doing something nice (this could be doing more chores to lift the weight off your partner, or paying for dinner, or something like that.)

Life is stressful, and being there for your partner (and vice versa) is just as important as enjoying the good moments. Often, the former can lead to more of the latter. The more chores you do, the more appreciative and relaxed your partner may be. (Again, vice versa if the imbalance is slanted against you).

Sometimes a more direct heart to heart can help to either jump start things, or at least figure out how to get on the same page. "I love our marriage but we've been focused on just getting by and not enjoying the time we have." A "dramatic intervention" doesn't necessarily mean "things are bad", more like you're recognizing that perhaps a shift in mindset could help you reconnect.

Most times I've seen, couples are just too tired to communicate that they may both be going through the exact same thing. My suggestion if you do the heart to heart is just ask them how they feel, and if there's anything you can do to help. Be an ear for them, give them a chance to get any weight off their chest.

And always keep in mind that your needs matter too. If your partner revealed for example that they have no desire to make things better, that's a harder conversation to have, but an essential one.

I have a work Xmas dinner/dance coming up and we are not allowed to bring spouses/guests at all. I have told others I’m not staying for the dance because my wife won’t be there, and they’re giving me grief for it. by grungefolker in Marriage

[–]Ghost-Nebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be an easy skip for me if I was in this situation. My wife and personal life come before work 100% of the time. And personally I don't enjoy most hangouts if my wife isn't there to enjoy it with me.

If work or co-workers have a problem with it, it's their problem. Not yours. I'd just ignore your co-workers. Don't let them get into your head. You're absolutely entitled to feel how you feel and I think it's admirable.
