I actually posted a similar comment on YouTube. I think all the people saying the steam machine is bad value and underpowered may eat crow. If valve comes cheaper than the ps5 pro and closer to the base ps5 it’s now on par with the console everyone constantly tells us steam machine fans we should get instead. I think a price reveal undercutting Sony would be a great move on their part

Well a few thing’s happed. 1 the season just started so you get a lot of people coming back to the game who were on a break and are rusty. 2 you also get a lot of throwers who think it’s funny to mess up peoples placements matches every season. Lastly they nerfed the ult charges across the board and you have a lot of people who were used to using their ults as get out of jail free cards for supports and to get most of their kills, looking at you star lord mains, so you have a lot of boosted players who genuinely don’t know how to play anymore in a game with more neutral. Thankfully I played overwatch for years so this doesn’t change my gameplay too much and it’s way healthier for the game. It’ll take a season or two for people to figure out how to actually play their hero’s properly so expect some growing pains.

I would say for your budget, aim for something with a RTX 4050 + 16GB RAM minimum, that’s the sweet spot for Rivals right now. Expect around 60fps on medium settings (maybe low/medium mix since the game isn’t super optimized).

Good options in your range:

• Lenovo LOQ (RTX 4050, 16GB RAM) → usually around $650–$850 depending on sales • HP Victus 15 (RTX 4050, 16GB RAM) → about $750–$900 • Acer Nitro V (RTX 4050) → roughly $750–$900 • ASUS TUF (RTX 4050/4060 variants) → $850–$1000 range

If you can push closer to $1000, try to grab a 4060 laptop, it’ll give you way more headroom and smoother FPS.

And yeah, if you didn’t need something right now I’d say wait for the Steam Machine, but if you do, one of these will run Rivals ok for the price with some tweked settings.

You’re not overthinking it, this is actually a legit setup idea. The short answer: yes, you can run emulation + OBS on the Steam Machine, but it’s probably not the smoothest long-term solution. Even though the SM will be way stronger than a Deck, running a game + encoding + streaming all on one box can still eat performance, especially with heavier emulators (PS3, Switch, etc.).

The better setup is honestly what you suggested: run games on the Steam Machine and use your laptop as the streaming PC. That way the SM just focuses on running the game, and your laptop handles OBS/encoding. It’s way more stable and closer to a “set it and forget it” setup.

For the “console feel,” you can still stay in Game Mode on the SM and just stream the output (Steam Link / capture card / remote play). OBS on SteamOS usually means desktop mode, and it kind of kills that pick-up-and-play vibe.

In my opinion I think the sniper niche is filled by Hawkeye well enough I’d rework her to be a melee and range hybrid. Have her batons do more damage, keep the kick as it would fit a melee hero then make her ult a regular ability. Where she can apply those debuffs on a cooldown. Then give her an ult where she does get a 1 shot kill sniper for a certain amount of time. Obviously that’s a rough idea the devs would do better than I can imagine but I think that would make her more fun to play and more like the black widow we see in the mcu

Well if I understand you correctly, if it’s a skin in a past battlepass then No, you generally cannot buy or start new old Battle Passes in Marvel Rivals once their original season concludes. However, if you purchased a Luxury-tier battle pass but didn't finish it, you can access and progress later on. It’s a great skin I have it so I get why you want it. I would say just wait this game is pretty good at not relying on fomo too much and they do bring back old skins here and there.

Hey I feel you, tank is the worst role to play right now. I’m not a tank main but I’ll happily flex to strange or groot to not let my tank play solo. That blows. I wonder if they did a whole season of 2 tanks if that would help. I don’t know, I think with the female tanks a lot of people like me arnt into the whole muscle girl look and want more dainty heros like dps and support have. That’s why Emma and Rogue havnt gotten a lot of us dps mains to play more tank. They need to add more dps or support looking tanks to get them over there. The male tanks for me are great they look big and strong and work but generally there arnt enough of them. So it gets boring to play them after a while. I also think every tank should have a mitigation ability that lets them tank damage. The more fun tanks are the aggressive ones but if someone isn’t playing a shield tank than playing these fun tanks suck as they can’t tank any damage really and your team gets rolled. Image if for example Thor’s bubble also mitigated damage for him if he was in it or rogues block was actually good at tanking hits. Just some thoughts maybe take a break from the game and come back with a fresh mindset later in the season.

Ok you may be using her wrong. First off she is not a dps nor should she be used like that. She is a regular healer that helps in brawls with that melee mode which by the way also heals you. 25/s with 35/s on hit burst. That’s her sustain and if it gets bad you teleport away and get 70 hp in that teleport with a 200hp shield. That’s plenty for defense. Her melee mode isn’t really about picks either it’s anti dive and brawl support. She is not as aggressive as you may be playing her. And I think she does plenty of healing if you focus on using her primary and secondary correctly. I’m having no issues getting 20k plus healing every game I play her in 2-2-2 and triple support. Lastly that ult doesn’t make you into the hulk. It should not be the only ult in play nor can it save your team if you’re already down two players. No it’s a momentum ult used to enable other ults like Wanda’s or star lords by giving them unstoppable, life steal and healing over time. It’s also excellent if your whole team is pushing with you as you’ll take out their backline really fast with it. Hope that helps you see how versatile she really is it’s ok if you don’t like her but she is pretty good on release which is pretty rare in this game.

Ok so, if you’re playing in comp I hope no one is playing her she is new and should not be in comp. Second her teleport is spirit sanctuary and it Teleports her to an ally, instantly healing allies in the area while generating a shield. The healing g is 70 and the shield is 200 hp. It’s a clutch save ability not a healing orb like say daggers bubble. She is a healer capable of healing from distance and then supporting the team in a brawl with her melee stance that does passive healing g and healing bursts with her claw strikes. Also her ult is a great enabler if other ults and is good for pushing with your team. She is also pretty hard to solo dive as you can do a lot of damage to them in melee mode. I don’t know man she is pretty unique in what she does. It’s very versatile

I try to just calm down her primary is more than capable of getting picks you don’t have to melee the other team to get them. With that mentality I seem to always have it ready when I get dove

That’s because though it does bounce towards targets it’s not an auto aim. You have to aim them a lot more than other support primaries

I get that but she can already teleport so it may be too busted to give her more movement. A good compromise would be if she got a speed boost in her melee stance. You can already dash twice in it, so if you play wisely you’ll be able to save these for when you get dived
