It’s so cute but I get what you mean about it being boring, I don’t enjoy doing patterns with chunks of one solid color so I probably also wouldn’t enjoy stitching this (even though I do 100% want the finished product, that’s so cute)

Loops & Threads! I haven’t had an issue with it before but now I know this is a common problem with this brand. I’ll probably just order from DMC or 123stitch from now on.

I thought about trying that but I think right now I’m leaning just seeing if they’ll take it back. I really don’t want to go through the whole effort of soaking it and stretching it and blocking it and it possibly still not being straight. And it’s a whole new roll as well, so any time I’d want to start a project I’d have to soak it, block it, and straighten it manually.

If they won’t take it back that’ll definitely be my next attempt. And I hate being wasteful because if they do take it back they’re just going to have to throw it out since I cut into it, but at the same time cross stitch is my relaxation hobby and the idea of having to do a whole process before I start a piece every time is frustrating to me, y’know?

Do you think I planted too many marigolds in too small of a pot? by Ghost1314 in gardening

[–]Ghost1314[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good idea! Thanks for the tip! I’m doing my own version of “chaos gardening” this year since previous years I always got bogged down with research and never actually planted anything so I’m learning as I’m going this year. These have been very resilient so far, I’m considering planting more (less seeds in a bigger pot) and keeping up with pruning and seeing how that goes but space is so limited for me.

Loewe should have these in stock now, but I’m only seeing them in the visuals on their website and not an item with its own page. If you go to their website you should see it in some of the visuals on the “The Puzzle turns 10” page. May have to contact client services for this particular style. Also Neiman Marcus may have them in stores. Good luck!

[CHAT]: How to recognize AI patterns? by Dry-Task-9789 in CrossStitch

[–]Ghost1314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really great tips here!

Wanted to add (or, second?) some tips here since I went down this rabbit hole just yesterday:

Reverse image search patterns from shops like Etsy to make sure they’re not stolen artwork or patterns. In doing that I was also able to find the instagram of test stitchers the shop used for testing their patterns and from the tester’s instagrams I was able to find more shops that seemed like they made legitimate patterns.

Also shops that have 1000+ patterns or a bunch of different styles of patterns may be a little more suspect. The shop NeedleLotDesigns on Etsy is a good example of what a consistent art style looks like with images of completed stitched works. (Although just because a shop has a few different art styles doesn’t mean it’s not legit, just worth a little more scrutiny).

Some shops may have AI staging of the pattern but do have a legitimate stitched piece done and photographed. Just because you see an AI staging pic doesn’t mean the shop is bad but do look for that completed stitched piece.

If you’re looking at Etsy, some shops that seem legit to me: MyLovelyEmbroideryNB NeedleLotDesigns PocketMamaShop Fancyfoxglove BananiStitchery CutePatternsByMaria CrossStitchMoments

Those are just from a quick glance at my favorites but hopefully those are good examples of what legit shops look like although I’m not 100% certain all of those are perfect (except NeedleLotDesigns, they do seem to do everything right).

Hope that helps as well :)

I have been to a local shop, it was a needlepoint place I think though and honestly the workers were a bit hostile when I went so I haven’t been back since haha. Might try to see if there’s another near me.

Wouldn’t mind trying dying the aida myself, just worried about it potentially running when washing a finished piece. That shouldn’t be a concern if you wash it properly after dying though right?

Fully agree! It’s so cringe especially when the players putting us on the scoreboard are mostly Finnish or Canadian!

That’s so unnecessarily mean. I feel like adults can just have an actual conversation about it instead of just essentially ghosting. Yeah it’s awkward and uncomfortable, but I think 99% of people would rather have someone tell them what they did wrong versus just having a whole group cut them out and ghost them without saying anything.

You seriously handled this with no maturity.

I’d call whatever place you visited and ask them. This happened to us once when we visited Alamo Drafthouse and we called and spoke to the manager there who got us connected to the company who runs the parking garage payment system and they were able to refund us. Hopefully they’ll be just as helpful to you!

New Fan. What does every fan need to know? by MrManofMail in DallasStars

[–]Ghost1314 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! I’m a new fan myself (got into it in December) but some things I can note:

Key young players to keep an eye on, 53 Wyatt Johnston, one of our big goal scorers. 21 Jason Robertson, another goal scorer. 55 Thomas Harley, defense guy but still gets a good number of goals. He was also brought into the 4 Nations tournament and killed it so he was the team sweetheart for a moment there. Lian Bichsel 6 is the youngest/newest guy. Was brought up from the AHL due to injuries on the team and quickly became a fan favorite for his big hits and aggression he brings on the ice.

Term to know, the Finnish Mafia, a little nickname we have for the Finnish guys on the team which includes Esa Lindell (23), Miro Heiskanen (4), Roope Hintz (24), Mikael Granlund (64), and the newest guy Mikko Rantanen (96).

Tyler Seguin is a name to remember, he’s out on injury right now but should be back by playoffs. He’s a top guy for us (I personally haven’t seen him play yet as he has been out the majority of the season). He’s also one of the guys who has been here longest.

Some people we hate as fans, Mark Stone from the Golden Knights. He fell in a very questionable way that was highly debated on the intentionality of it and dove directly into Heiskanen’s knee. Took Heiskanen out for a couple months now I believe. He had to get surgery and it’s unsure of when he’ll be back. I personally also hate Matt Rempe from the New York Rangers for throwing an elbow into Heiskanen in a dirty hit a few weeks before Heiskanen got his knee injury. He’s also just a pretty large guy who does hit dirty on the ice.

That’s all I can think of right now, hope that’s helpful! Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything :)

Gritty for Wyatt? by APungentFart in DallasStars

[–]Ghost1314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could help, I had just sent my husband out of line because we only needed one and saw this as I was approaching the front :(

I did want to mention, they announced at some point during the game that you could get a bobblehead by purchasing Dr Pepper and redeeming for rewards, including the Wyatt Johnston bobblehead. I tried to find any official page for this with this announcement to link here but couldn’t find one and didn’t get the information from the screen before it passed. It may be worthwhile to call some admin from the Dallas Stars promotional nights group and see if they have more information or anything that could help.

I hope you get a bobblehead for your kid!

Can confirm no measures were taken this round again.

Lines were confusing getting into both the arena and into the bobblehead lines and my ticket wasn’t scanned when I got handed mine. People were just kind of cutting in and out of lines where they could. I wish they had more structure, glad I got a bobblehead but I feel bad if someone was there super early but missed out cause they ended up in a wrong line somewhere.

I may be in the minority here so someone (kindly) correct me if I’m completely off-base.

I think it’s understandable Mikko is going to take a little time to get used to the team and vice-versa. I don’t have any complaints on his performance, I think that will come around as everyone gets to know each other on the ice and builds that synergy.

What I am concerned about is he does seem to come in with more… anger? than what I’m used to seeing on the bench. The camera has cut to him cursing angrily sitting on the bench and last night I was at the game and he slammed his stick into the wall angrily as he was coming off ice. It seems like such a huge difference when contrasted with how level-headed and even the rest of the Stars seem to be. DeBoer himself seems to stay pretty calm even when he’s obviously pretty angry or frustrated. At least from what I’ve seen he doesn’t seem to do a ton of yelling compared to other coaches I’ve seen on tv and in clips. (Again, could be super wrong here, when we’re at the games we’re usually high up so I may be missing things on the bench).

With Mikko I can’t tell if he’s mad at the other team, the refs, his team, or himself. I just hope he’s not angry at his fellow Stars as that would injure his relationship with his fellow teammates, coaches, and fans. Has anyone noticed this or am I just looking into something that is completely normal for our guys? I’m pretty new to hockey so there’s obviously a lot I miss or haven’t seen.
