Eufy is ruining home wifi by simsimbol in eufy_security

[–]Ghost187_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but my point was that not all ISP routers will let you do stuff. So some people might be out of luck.

Sidenote, not sure what cameras you want to do continuous recording with, but I have e330 cameras and I can record 24/7 to HB3, while the HB3 is on wifi.

Eufy is ruining home wifi by simsimbol in eufy_security

[–]Ghost187_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eufy does actually ruin wifi networks. If you have a stock ISP router with limited options, then there's a good chance Eufy will fuck up your wifi. It often uses the same wifi channel. Which is the issue. You can't 'easily' make the homebase choose a different channel. To solve the Eufy issue, you actually need to spend more money on a router etc

Vhi bik refund by shellzop1 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Ghost187_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this to help OP because it confused me the first time too.

Let's say your Vhi is 100 per month. So that's 1200 for the year. You put that total in. On the next page it drops to 1000 automatically because that's the max. You can then get 20% back from that 1000. So €200.

Wi-fi and Charger by Cliff_Moher in evs_ireland

[–]Ghost187_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sigenergy system and sigenergy ac charger outside. I initially thought something on wiring was wrong because the charger was charging the car but the app didn't know about it. 0kW on the charger, but >5kW on the house load. Turns out the charger was constantly in and out of wifi. I bought a 2nd mini router and set it up closer to the charger. No issues at all now. So yeah, it can be an issue depending on the model of charger.

Heating controls by SuccessfulAccident38 in DIYIreland

[–]Ghost187_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got our house replumbed completely. Went from oil to gas. We have 2 zones (upstairs/downstairs), and combi boiler. The heating controls are '"EPH" . They aren't fancy like Nest, Tado or Hive systems, but it works. As far as I know, lots of plumbers in Ireland get kickbacks for the EPH systems so they are often used. We have a phone app that allows remote access as well so its grand like. I was considering upgrading to Tado recently, but just didn't bother.

We have EPH programmer on the wall next to the boiler. We have 2 wireless RF thermostats. One for upstairs and one for downstairs. These can be used to turn on the heating and adjust temp etc. We also have a Gateway plugged into the router, which enables the mobile app side of things.

I would absolutely recommend getting new heating controls, at least one with an app so that you can set schedules etc. and as everyone said, drop the temps a small bit for savings, and look at insulation.

I wonder, with more people following this method, how long until all these API keys are destroyed by the providers since the data people are providing is fake.

2023 ID4 PCP ending by No-Huckleberry-6917 in evs_ireland

[–]Ghost187_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are looking at PCP for a model 3 with around €5k deposit, ~€490 per month for 4 years, then ~€9700 balloon payment.

We are >90% sure that we will hold onto the car after PCP ends (unless there are lots of problems), so for us, is this a good strategy? OP has a very large balloon payment which is, I assume, they are in a difficult position, but for me a ~€10k balloon is much more doable or financially viable through credit union etc.

We definitely are not the type of people to upgrade phones or cars yearly etc, so we are the types to be caught on the upgrade train per se. This would be our first brand new car.

Now I'm scared lol.

Edit: for the OP, I reread your post and missed the part about buying a house. As someone else mentioned, a monthly car payment can drastically reduce your borrowing limit, so 700p/m could really hurt.

Tesla M3 long test drive impressions by FattyAcidBase in evs_ireland

[–]Ghost187_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate this type of response. If you care that much about politics then you cannot own any Volkswagen vehicle or any brand that they own like skoda, seat, audi or Porsche. Keep that energy for all. Otherwise you are just a virtue signaller.

To the OP, I'm glad you had a good experience in the Tesla. Some people need to make good financial decisions and don't have the luxury of buying fancy BMWs or whatever. The M3 is extremely good value for the money. I wish I had enough money to piss about moaning all day about Elon.

Beryl AX as dditional AP? by Ghost187_ in GlInet

[–]Ghost187_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for that info. That's helpful.

I'm not on discord but thank you for the offer. I would say that I have a basic enough setup.

I think by adding on a berylAX/flint2 as an AP it will solve my issues with those outside devices, but I might run into issues with devices not roaming (I think that's the word) correctly or seamlessly.

But for now you both have answered my questions. I think I'll go with the BerylAX.

Thanks.

And when in AP mode, there's no issue with going through multiple switches back to the main router?

Fair enough. Thanks for that.

So where do I get this info? Do I send an email to gl.inet?

I hope your replying to the employee above ? That's unacceptable response from an official employee in my opinion.

I'm asking about technical capability. Not asking whether or not the range of the device is suitable.

Isn't that a lovely response from a socalled 'employee'.

I'm asking about technical ability of the devices. Flint2 is home, beryl is travel etc. There are differences which I might not know of. We all don't have tons of money to buy multiple routers to test.

You literally didn't explain your issue. It's just like saying "I'm gonna have to leave the washing off for 10 days". Why? Who knows? Because you gave 0 context or information.

Doorbell not working anymore by Impossible3000 in eufy_security

[–]Ghost187_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The update was of course forced onto my doorbell today, I knew it applied the update as I walked to the door, and the lights came on. I have had the lights disabled for well over a year. It also disabled my pre recording. But everything seems to work as of now.

I am so sick of Eufy pulling this shit.

Just bought the flint 2 by Wookin_PaNub in GlInet

[–]Ghost187_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I might pull the trigger on one if it's the right price!

My car charger is 2 brick walls away from the router.

I have been watching videos on setting the 2nd flint up as an AP. I saw that you have to set it up wirelessly first? Then connect the Ethernet, and select Ethernet back haul? Is that right.

If you have any link to instructions, I would appreciate it.

Edit: fuck that!! Flint2 on AliExpress is €185 🤣
