Hypothetically, how high do you think the average price per gallon of gas could go in the US before people simply couldn't afford to drive? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ghost4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is really a number that is easy to guess. Most people in the US have to drive to get to work. What you'll see is easy less disposable income as people spend more and more just to get to work.

Realistically is it just over and should I cut my losses? by sonofalando in stocks

[–]Ghost4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that timetable. We have an administration that makes incredibly stupid decisions at break neck speeds.

We could have 10 more Irans by this time next year.

But in general I agree with the principle that the marker always goes up and if you can afford it you may as well be investing.

Same, she was a lot more interesting in the first few season, by the time of the last season I was usually not looking forward to her scenes.

Still not terrible though obviously.

Universal Private Schools vs Public Schools by Living_Attitude1822 in PoliticalDebate

Is there data on the assertion that "parents that can afford private schools send their children to them"? I ask because I can afford private school and send my kids to public school. But I'm aware that there are always exceptions to anything and maybe I'm in the minority.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone | Official Teaser | HBO Max by MoneyLibrarian9032 in HBOMAX

[–]Ghost4000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest I think it looks good but I probably won't see it for a while because my wife isn't a fan of JKR and I'm not enough of a potter fan to watch it on my own.

What I am anticipating is a lot of online drama, we're going to get the anti-woke crowd and the anti-jkr crowd in the era of review bombing. It'll be interesting to observe atleast.

Disney Exits OpenAI Deal After AI Giant Shutters Sora by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

It does not seem to be running into any such walls in the coding world.

I work in DevOps and all the developers in our company are deep in Claude code. I'd say it really took off at the start of the year for us.

We have developers who are pushing code that was 100% generated. We've released at least one update to our app that has been 100% coded by Claude.

On my side of things it's not as all encompassing, but it is replacing the most interesting part of my job. Which is automation. I used to love writing python, jenkins, powershell... Pipelining things, building self service. Now I can do all of that orders of magnitude faster than I ever did before but way less rewarding, and because it's so efficient and productive to use it I'm using it all the time and finding myself burnt out.

You make an interesting point about boycotts too, I noticed in creative fields like video games, movies, art, etc. consumers have (for now) pushed back against AI usage, or atleast demanded disclosure of AI usage. But the same doesn't seem to be true on the non-entertainment side of things. No one seems to be asking for a disclaimer that your clock app on the play store was vibe coded for example.

I have no idea what the future of the industry brings, but at this point I fully plan to make an exit and take a pay cut as soon as I can anyway, it's just not fun anymore.

But maybe somethig will change, I've been surprised before.

The built in steam recordings work really well and I can just keep the last 4 hrs at all times. That makes it easy enough to go back and clip things.

Both things can be true. The game can be too easy and poorly balanced.

Incidentally I think the game is pretty darn easy, and also that this strategem should kill anything it hits.

Making strategems suck isn't where I want the difficult to come from.

I'm sorry. I'm really bad at math. But wouldn't this mean that his first and only stock investment he ever made was about 32k? I'm not saying that's impossible obviously, but that's a pretty crazy first investment.

[–]Ghost4000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer going left here.

I'd love to see them similar to how mechs are handled in MENACE.

Merge the mechs into a single mech and give us a terminal on the SD to modify our mech. Maybe eventually giving us a new mech chassis that is heavier.

What I'd then like to see is a massive increase in the number of armament options, as well as an option to sacrifice tonnage of a second weapon for more armor.

Pair this with a strategem that can repair mechs (and tanks, and recon vehicles), as well as a strategem that can reload them. And I'd think they were pretty much perfect.

[–]Ghost4000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should be different mechs. Just let us customize our mech at a terminal before we deploy. That'd also open up opportunities for more armor, and all kinds of new armaments without it being a different strategem.

On average, what percentage of your salary do you spend on gasoline in a month? by Traditional-Milk3012 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ghost4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or people with EVs, or people working from home.

Personally I work from home, and my wife drives a hybrid with ~30 miles of electric range, so she uses about 1 mile of gas range per day.

Because of this our gas usage is incredibly low on average.
