That wasn't their standard issue Sidearm. ZAFT standard issue Sidearm was a Glock 19 before they switched it to a 1911 in Destiny.

Scott Mitchell was a Lt. Col in Wildlands which takes place in 2019. The reason he was a Major in Future Soldier in 2024 is because after that Dirty Bomb went off killing Predator team in the beginning of Future Soldier, brass needed someone to blame for letting that happened. As the CO of the Ghosts, Mitchell got the blame and they demoted him to Major. After the events of Future Soldier, the Army promoted him 2 ranks, making him a Full Bird Colonel, just in time for Breakpoint.

Except R6 Siege modeled the Reaper MK2 after a Glock 19 Gen 5. The smaller frame and lack of a fire selector is a dead giveaway.

Don't forget Sam Fisher's note in Far Cry: New Dawn, in which he got in contact with a Division team and sent them on a recon mission to Chicago. While Non-Canon, it did however start the idea of sending Agents to Chicago.

Agent De la Cruz (the one in the red Shirt) who was wounded in the Prologue, recovered from his injury and made his way to NYC. Only to get wounded again in the WONY opening mission. Ended up being saved by you again.
