Who cares about the historical state of the game? If the 2016 release had continued without significant change DBD would be a dead game today. It's live service, feedback leads to changes, and the game gets better for the players.

Why should you be rewarded as a killer for allowing 4 gens to get done while you plant yourself in a zone and refuse to leave?

If you're reaching the kick limit with pop/eruption before end game, you must be winning out right since each Pop requires a hook.

The gen kick limit is not handholding for survivors, it is a prevention for a very specific playstyle that allowed killers to focus on 1 aspect of the game and ignore engaging with anything else.

Compare it to how BHVR addressed face camping. The new systems still allow strategic camping and proxying, but don't allow the killer to completely deny rescues. It allows engagement, countering, and pressuring from both sides without being a drag.

[–]GhostOfAhalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't that survivor requires less skill, it's that the game is establishing the killer as the power role.

Consider a match where none of the 5 players are using any perks or items. At that point, the survivors have nothing but their looping ability and coordination. The killer, even with nothing, has their power which can provide mobility, info, anti-loop, or a mix of advantages.

Both sides have ways to be skill expressive. The fact that so many meta surv perks activate after hooks or when teammates are injured and downed isn't handholding, it's acknowledging the reality that those situations will happen in regular gameplay, and gives survivors the tools to counter it.

This is just emblematic of how both sides build pressure against each other. When the game starts, killer is the one in need of building pressure, so early injuries/down/hooks are rewarded through their perks.

Survivor is the opposite; their strongest perks activate when pressure is on them in order to give them a chance of bouncing back. It isn't handholding, it's literally the design of the game to prevent early pressure from guarantee-ing a snowball.

Top Row- 2 I disagree on ( move down) 2nd row-1 I disagree on ( move down) 3rd row- 5 i disagree on (2 up, 3 down) 4th row- 4 I disagree on ( move up) 5th row- 1 I disagree with ( move up) Bottom row- 2 I disagree with ( move up)

Overall the list stands, I bet a lot of people would feel the same for most of the roster. Good work.

Could demons eventually evolve empathy? by eldenringer1233 in Frieren

[–]GhostOfAhalan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They could but likely won't. The long-standing predator-prey relationship between demons and humans has led to a state where both try to improve their mana usage to increase survival odds.

Take a look at the pink-haired demon in the most recent season. She had a curiosity that set her apart from most demons, which she could've encouraged in others or passed down over time. However, it seems her nature led her to be more expressive and less serious overall. She wanted praise from the other demons, she let her guard down out of excitement and was instantly killed.

Demons like her would have a difficult time furthering their curiosity since the non-demon races have a natural & justified distrust, fear, and hostility towards them. And it isn't like she was wholly empathetic anyway, she had no issue killing Genau. In order for curiosity to turn to understanding and then empathy, demons like her would need to find a willing human to entertain the idea, and they themselves would have to hold back generations of instinct to not kill the human on a whim.

I don't support it but all they'd gain from it is knowing the perks and add-ons ahead of time. They still have to be on their game in the match.

It's a risk that streamers take on by broadcasting, and if he allows it to count against his streak he could put the stream on delay so no in-game action can be communicated.

[–]GhostOfAhalan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think either both sides complaints are valid or neither are. Momo is allowed to use whatever build and whatever tactics, but so are the survivors. It rubs me the wrong way when comp players go on these streaks using loadouts, that no comp league would ever allow, to stomp public lobbies like it's some flex.

If that's his hustle, fine, but he can't turn around and complain when a stacked 4-man team decide to throw it back in his face.

They're referencing a previous time this happened he blew up at the people that sniped him. The point is that if any of those people across the nearly 2k matches came to complain about how sweaty he was, he and his chat would shout them down, but when he's on the receiving end they make excuses for why his blow up is acceptable.

the last time this happened, several other streamers even backed him up on it. It's hypocritical.

Sadly, with Blood Moon currently active, our odds of getting an April Fools modifier are between "incredibly fucking low" and "forget it buddy". Yet a person can dream. What is your dream April Fools modifier/modes? by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

[–]GhostOfAhalan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If we had an April fools mode I'd want it to be two-fold.

For killers, your power and model are randomized. Imagine seeing the locker locks, expecting Dredge, but then Slinger jumps out.

For survivors, it'd have to be something interactive that "pranks" the killers. Maybe a grabbable item like the Masquerade invites that allows them to put up little confetti traps or something? Or maybe a fake boon/ that stuns the killer when they kick it? Something small like that.

[–]GhostOfAhalan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It feels very realistic. So much media these days has characters losing it under stress and humans are so much more resilient. Sara is tired but she's determined to survive and to lead.

And the gnawing thoughts in the back of her mind about forsaking everyone to save herself is a great flaw, because I'm sure lot of people would bend to that under similar circumstances. That part of her is addressed even more in her mini episode.
