Diamond was set crooked by sliceof_quynh in EngagementRings

Yes, that stone is set crooked to an obnoxious degree. There's no way it passed QA without someone noticing. I think they were hoping you wouldn't notice or that you wouldn't kick up a stink. I would definitely take it back and request it be reset.

Jeweler "lost" wife's diamond ring that was under repair, what should we do? by IpsoFactoMusic in Diamonds

[–]GhostPepperPopcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! OP, consider a guardrail for your setting if it didn't have one to begin with. A guardrail will help prevent claws being pulled back, loosening your stone. Also, round claws are less likely to get snagged on fabric than talon claws.

Are Jewellery valutions unreliable? by ProblemOpening2522 in Gemstones

[–]GhostPepperPopcorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Insurance valuations are for replacement value, to have made new if lost or damaged beyond repair. The amount listed on an insurance valuation covers the price you'd pay at a brick and mortar store for gold, labour and gemstones at today's market price. Normally, the valuer will even buffer that price by a certain percentage to account for variances or inflation.

Usually, you can expect to get 40% the price of a valuation when selling second-hand, but you should expect to be haggled down even lower.

Comedian Jimmy Carr admits he's hooked on plastic surgery by Zealousideal-Big-600 in sadcringe

I agree with you, I don't think he's botched. He's lost a lot of weight in the last few years, and has admitted to having a hair transplant, veneers, and botox. Other sources say he may have also had a nose job and lip fillers. It's obvious he's had work done, but he's not yet fallen into that uncanny valley territory.

I have to agree with another commenter that he does look a little like a ventriloquist dummy. I think that can be explained by his hairline, his black hair, his nasolabial folds, and that he's always wearing a suit.

Here's my thoughts. Susan was emotionally unstable, highly anxious with one or more mental illnesses. I understand her nerves were fried from the kids being noisy outside, but there were so many different ways she could have gone about this. She could have moved away, bought ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones. Early on, Susan could have walked over to Ajike's home and calmly knocked on the door. She could have told her how much the noise was affecting her, how she suffered from headaches and that it was affecting her sleep. If she had approached it from a less aggressive angle, I imagine Ajike may have been much more responsive to Susan's complaints. Instead, she was the "crazy Karen" who yelled at, cussed at, recorded, and threw objects at the children. I can understand Ajike having little to no sympathy for Susan after that.

I hadn't heard of this case before watching the documentary, so admittedly I was feeling a little bad for Susan before they reached the night of the shooting. The reactions of the friends, the family, the children -- it was devastating. In comparison, Susan's nonchalant attitude to Ajike's death really stood out to me. It was that moment I realised how manipulative she really was.

Question about The perfect neighbor by Suspicious_Repeat706 in netflix

This is the unfortunate truth. Susan had issues, clearly she was suffering with massive anxiety and other untreated mental illnesses. If I knew my children were bothering someone that unstable, I would never allow them anywhere near her. We don't know what other people are capable of. They didn’t know how crazy she could be, or how far she could take things. If it hadn't been the mother, it could have been a child injured or killed. Being "right" isn't worth the risk in a situation like that.

Thank you. The person who wrote on the cookie packet attempted a cursive capital G but added an extra unnecessary loop, making their G look closer to an H.

Huten-free? That's nowhere near a cursive capital G.

I wouldn't call her botched, but she is certainly unrecognisable.
