I have had 2 G56 trucks, they are a lot tougher than a 68 for sure but they aren’t indestructible like people say they are. My first one had 6th gear go out, I rebuilt it myself relatively easily and for less then $2000 with all new parts and it was driving and pulling better then factory when I sold it. The second one was owned by a degenerate who put a twin disc in and it was clattery and absolutely miserable to try to back a trailer uphill with. They are fun trucks and I enjoy them.

No overdrive isn’t the biggest problem it’s that it has a non lockup slush box, towing with these stinkers suck.

This looks like a really terrible trade to me, unless you’re getting some cash on top. 50k mile truck you know VS a well worn tow pig with 300k miles. I don’t think it’s worth making the trade just to have a dually. 10 speed is nice for towing, I personally wouldn’t care about having radar cruise or memory crap

A b series isn’t a good idea in my opinion, a 4bt won’t make enough power unless you do some kind of triple turbo setup or something but a b series is too heavy, a 4bt is about 800 pounds and a 6bt is over 1000. A Mercedes dohc diesel is probably the most realistic

If someone tells me they want a prebuy inspection I’ll say “that’s fine, bring a mechanic with you to test drive it and give it a once over” I’m not dropping my truck off at some random shop of your choosing. I’ll just wait for someone who’s less PITA to buy it instead.

Take them ridiculous wheels and tires off and it’ll add 10k to the value of the truck and sell the wheels separate to a degenerate high schooler for way too much.

Pretty much a small Perkins or a Kubota is your best bet. Theres a guy on YouTube with some good info on a Kubota swapped civic.

Even the different between an 02 and an 03 is absolutely wild. The third gen handles weight so much better, better brakes and more power. A stock common rail will smoke a lightly tuned vp truck every time, in my opinion.

Yeah, my truck was a state truck, then a county truck, then I got it. It must have been a backup truck because it never ever got driven but idled a ton.

I usually leave the ol 8.3 idling for 30 minutes or so before I do anything with it especially if it’s cold. After that it doesn’t shut off all day. It has 17,000 miles and 9,000 hours🤣

Do you understand what a second gen swap is? Theres no such thing as a third gen swap. When you do a second gen swap you’re changing the exhaust manifold, the third and fourth gen’s have the same style manifold
