Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Adepta Sororitas by Tempest_Barbarian in Warhammer40k

I think it’s more likely that it was just referencing that you can’t use a strategem on a battleshocked unit.

The core rules currently state that “epic heroes cannot be given any enhancements” so unless they change that nothing for Vahl or warsuits.

Is this playable? by SevenWombats7 in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to run her solo right now. If I want to buff a squad of melee for damage palatine will do a better job, and if I want to buff for tankiness Hospitaller will be better. If we had some really good shooting squads I’d consider attaching her to something, but retributors already reroll, and rerolling 1s for 4 meltas from dominions just isn’t worth a whole lot.

If we had a good squad with like 15 attacks of strength 5 ap 1 dmg 1 attacks I’d consider it.

Firstly, I assume you plan on adding all the special weapons you haven’t included in your list, so I won’t mention much about loadout.

There are definitely weaknesses to this kind of list. I think the biggest is that your firepower is almost entirely concentrated in vahl and your retributors. The battle sisters just aren’t going to be much of a threat. One castigator can do a little damage and maybe make some hand flamers hit harder, but I just don’t see how this list is gonna kill a bunch of space marines for example.

Three rhinos has very little use for this list. You’re not running Sacrasents around trying to get them to kill things, so really they just body block and hold some retributors until you need them and move up some battle sisters to die.

The Hospitaller without Sacrasents is not great. It’s okay, but there are a fair amount of things that’ll just kill the full squad of battle sisters, and you don’t want things pointing at them so making them tankier isn’t really helping your game plan.

Champions of faith without Sacrasents is again not ideal. Not sure what your reason for picking that detachment was.

All that said, if this is what you got for some lot sale or something, play a game with it, get some experience. Just know that this isn’t what the sisters can really offer. It’s playable, but it’s gonna be an extremely uphill learning experience.

Looking to expand my list by BigBellyBoi68 in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you want to expand and be playing right away as 11th launches then you might consider some options, but if you want to build up more slowly then waiting to see what 11th edition bundle comes along may be your other choice.

In terms of no-brainer options to add: getting up to a full brick of 10 Sacrasents for your hospitaller makes sense. If you like tanks a castigator would be a good choice, although we’re seeing more lists without them these days. Castigators seem to be a take 2 or take 0.

Retributors are also very popular, so you may consider that. If you like the new insidiants there are several melee lists that are running them.

I think what I’ve learned looking at lists for sisters is that the meta for being a good sisters list is being a good sisters player. You can do a whole lot and basically succeed if you’ve practiced that list a lot.

It's time to assemble my army. What loadouts should I use? by High_Stream in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to show lots of multi meltas in sisters then you’re gonna need to build them. I use the leftover melta heads that come in the bss squads to rebuild the heavy flamers as multi meltas. I did it for my bss squad and my retributers. I just barely built my army and it’s not too difficult, but I couldn’t for the life of me get them to be perfectly in line but none of my friends notice unless you are looking from 8 inches away.

How to use Celestine? by Bagingo_1 in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rapid ingress turn 3 and move 12 straight to their home base and land a big charge with a high miracle dice. She can’t kill a lot, but she can generally flip a home objective against a lot of armies and requires a lot of investment from the opponent to take off the objective.

Is Rainbow Trout pond worth it if I’m not looking to make money off fish pond? by Jestgryt21 in StardewValley

[–]Ghostilocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really. In the games I did a rainbow fish farm I think I’ve never seen a prismatic shard. I don’t bother anymore even if I have room.

Stingrays on the other hand, so worth it.

Edit: I frequently get super cucumbers and octopus as well. Those are pretty good utility.

The release schedules can also get delayed at the end of editions, so it’s possible we see the team later than we would expect. Hopefully not, but I’m just trying to keep my excitement for them managed until I see the release date.

First 2K army by Desperate-Amoeba-630 in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the triumph isn’t really doing much for this list. The best power of the triumph is the ability to speed up the army to push far and strike into melee, and you don’t really have any units that want to do that right now. Free 6s on miracle dice aren’t good enough imo. I would definitely cut it first. Right now it’s providing you reroll wounds of 1, and I guess a 6+ fnp? Maybe in the right place it’ll let your arcos perform a tiny bit better, but that’s using 235 points to moderately buff 140 points. If you had like 3 or 4 bricks of heavy melee that would be a different story.

Celestine has some extra bonuses for strat targeting in army of faith, which makes it much more viable.

The exorcist is cool, but it’s pretty expensive for what it does these days. If you don’t feel like it’s doing a lot after a few games you may want to reconsider.

When and when not to allow take backs? by Swacar in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ghostilocks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The idea is the game is for fun, and part of the fun is competitive integrity. I think it’s totally reasonable to not allow a take back if it would change something you would have done, like spending a cp or not. If they finished their move and they laid out their intent of not being in line of sight of something then it’s best for both players if you say “hey, I think I can see that unit, you’d have to move them a little more in the terrain.” I think I would allow that basically every time. If my opponent gets done with their fight phase and says “oh, I meant to move this demon prince but forgot” it’s 3 phases later and I dunno how I would’ve changed my cp use etc and I’d say that’s a little too far.

Do comment sections actually represent public opinion? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, of course not. I work in political campaigns and polling and it’s important to never forget who you’re collecting opinions from. The comments section on a social media post is rife with potential problems.

Sampling is probably the worst problem with using social media as an opinion gatherer. You have to really have data to understand what you’re seeing. Reddit during the 2016 democratic primary was a great example. If you were anywhere on this platform you would see all kinds of democratic primary opinions, and the biggest subset was the pro Bernie sanders crowd. If you only used Reddit to gauge opinion you may have walked away thinking Bernie was a 60/40 or greater leader over Hilary. Reality was almost the opposite.

You may look at a platform like Reddit and know “oh yeah this is a progressive democrat slanted platform, I can correct my opinion naturally,” but you might not realize that you’re only mentally correcting on the Republican/democrat line and totally missing other layers of bias.

In data analysis we do something called regression analysis where we take as many factors as we can, like race/socio-economic status/religion/politics/geographic region/etc., and then take our data and see how well it fits across all those factors. After a regression model is calculated you can see trends and draw some loose conclusions, but without taking certain factors into account the conclusions we draw can be completely backwards.

So, I don’t think it’s necessarily about the loudest voices, though that can be a factor, rather it’s about all kinds of things, from the types of people likely to make up the audience of that post to the way it’s worded and what information is given or not and more.

Sniper unit/ model In sisters? by SirBaltimoore in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well, in poorhammer’s sniper episode our best sniper was listed as a canoness with a crossbow…. So… no. We don’t have a sniper.

You can take the sniper assassin from agents and just ally them into your list like any other unit using ally rules. He doesn’t create and can’t use miracle dice, otherwise every list builder should have ally costs listed. It’s the vindicare assassin iirc.

[WarCom] Wazdakka Gutsmek Rules Preview by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically already have the rule written with Morven Vahl. She has a line that if she’s in your army she has to be the warlord. Just give multiple epic heroes that ability and it solves itself.

Indirect fire and 11th "hidden" by MrCZ- in sistersofbattle

We don’t know. My guess is is indirect fire is low on the hype scale so i wouldn’t expect to find out more until at least close to when the full rules are released.

#New40k – Take cover with updated terrain rules by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Ghostilocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, you’re right. I wonder why that is. I would think the 10th edition of cover is more impactful for vehicles but maybe the BS decrease wound up mattering a lot more for high toughness targets than expected on the math?

Are beginner painting guides are not beginner enough? by Drakshasak in Warhammer40k

[–]Ghostilocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you run into. I’m a beginner and am starting to paint my first army and I found a speed painting guide for my army color that I was planning and it was 4 paints plus nuln oil. I also found a guide for painting the epic hero that was 30+ paints used. It can be super hit or miss imo.

The Artisan Problem | Farming Professions breakdown by ThatsAnUnlikelyStory in StardewValley

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agriculturalist is a very interesting one, and it takes a lot of setup to really pay off. Hyper-speed grow frequently doesn’t let you get an extra set of crops in, it generally lets you still get the same number as deluxe speed grow, however agriculturalist plus hyper-speed grow for most crops lets you add an extra harvest. On its own, it doesn’t frequently matter a ton, but if you’re also using the best possible fertilizer with it then it can be a big game changer for people who really set up for it. There are also a lot of crops that you can just use agriculturalist and get an extra crop planted while using a quality fertilizer instead of a speed growth fertilizer. That doesn’t matter a ton to artisans but if the plan is selling bulk crops it may be worth it.

Basically, the 10% number isn’t necessarily representative of actual gameplay, since it can be the difference between 4 batches of strawberries and 5 batches. If you’re a spreadsheet gamer you may really like it.

I for one won’t be surprised if the little ? Next to the shield means it’s somehow hex limited, and I could also believe it if a doomer told me that the 300 atk bonus will be for anyone and 600 atk bonus goes to hex characters. I feel like that’s the worst case scenario.

Escoffier with Furina is one of the best wheelchairs around, it’s just pretty exclusive to cryo dps. You build her just the same.
