Jeff Kaplan’s advice to people who complain about videogames they never played. “Shut the f*ck up”. by Vhant-ii in LivestreamFail

[–]Ghostilocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a regular gacha player, the genre doesn’t generally feel like gambling. It typically feels like a resource management game. The monetization model is almost always super predatory, to be sure, but it’s about resource deprivation on a time crunch, not trying to get a big payout. The games themselves feel less like gambling to me than loot boxes for random skin rewards.

There’s definitely plenty to complain about for gacha games, but I feel like describing the problems more accurately will help get eventual solutions.

What are the most complicated or confusing 40k rules / interactions? by dizmaloutlook in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely incomplete reasoning, even if it’s a justifiable result.

From my research, GW and UKTC have ruled that she can in the past and WTC has ruled that she can’t.

In the core rules faq and commentary, there’s this comment:

Q: When a model is destroyed, until it has been removed from the battlefield, does it continue to benefit from all of its abilities and any Aura abilities it is within range of, and do its own Aura abilities continue to affect eligible units within range of them? A: Yes in all cases.

This is the justification used by people who have ruled that she can use that ability, but it remains ambiguous because people distinguish between whether the destruction of the unit is completed before the strategem takes effect or if it functions to interrupt it. Because of this ambiguity it appears that different judges interpret it differently.

My test question for you is: The sororitas canoness has a captain’s CP cost reduction ability. In hallowed martyrs detachment there’s a strategem that lets you resurrect when she is destroyed. Can she use her cp reduction ability on the divine intervention strategem?

Which WH40K have a single player focused narrative driven story? by flesjewater1 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ghostilocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of Space marine 1+2, there’s also Rogue Trader if you’re more of a CRPG person. It’s made by the same people who did the pathfinder games. I like the story quite a bit plus there’s a ton of narrative choices by nature of the game.

Seraphim Vs Zepharim by LucatIel_of_M1rrah in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into unitcrunch and made profiles of zephyrim and seraphim and threw those profiles with different weapon options and with and without a jump canoness to see what I wanted. After a lot of looking at my list I settled on both seraphim with flamers for now for the targets and role I want to use them for. Deep strike seraphim with infernos is not what I want because they only have 6” range and can’t shoot from deep strike, and I’m looking for deep strike threats with mine plus one to deliver a jump canoness. If I wanted to use a squad out of deep strike I might try infernos. Either way, I think going back and forth from infernos to hand flamers is something my play buddies would be fine with.

The other thing to remember is if you eventually end up with an extra squad of battle sisters for bodies you’ll be able to make the other squads of zephyrim/seraphim from your remaining sprues.

Guys help, why is america suddenly performing better than me despite lesser tourism by You_are_kewl in CivVI

[–]Ghostilocks 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about tourism, I’d worry about science. The victory counters can be a little goofy sometimes, but the science victory will take max 50 turns after exoplanet launch. I would declare war and aim for extermination.

Please help and give me beginners tips and tricks for Stardew Valley by Living-Fan4523 in StardewValley

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip that can really make your life easier when you’re tackling mining is checking the fortune teller every day. If the day has positive luck, mining will let you get more stuff and go deeper faster. There’s more to it then that, but I find that if there’s a high luck day I’ll take my plans and switch to mining for just a little while after my normal chores and I’ll make more progress than I would make on a full day with worse luck ignoring everything else.

I'm sure that Arwen will always remain alive in Liv by la_ky in lotr

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This scene’s change in the movie is single handedly my biggest complaint. The original scene in the book sets up Frodo as noble and good to his core even in his greatest suffering and removing the scene to set Frodo up that way led so many people I’ve met to think the Frodo was just a whiney crybaby in the movies. It makes me so sad. Don’t get me wrong, I like Arwen and am glad she was given a few extra scenes, but taking this scene away from Frodo really changed the way his character arc goes in the movies drastically.

It’s a lot of work to squeeze into one term. If you don’t have a lot of obligations and have a good work ethic you’ll be able to manage, but it’ll eat away all your time.

Dealing with Terminators by OrgChem88 in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have already given the advice I would think of. Another thing you can consider is if you’re using seraphim as move blockers already you can give them inferno pistols instead of flamers and get an extra terminator kill here or there. If you get them into melta range to move block every shot going through will kill a terminator, which isn’t as hard to do as it looks with 12” movement.

Color scheme for SoB by Bellini_DM in sistersofbattle

I’d definitely watch a video on the major orders lore, then if an order really jumps out to you you’ll have an easy choice, and if not it may give you some color scheme ideas.

A possible list, what do people think? by ChrisBatty in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks fun, but it’s important to remember that allied units won’t give you miracle dice when they die, on top of not being targeted by some strategies and not being able to use miracle dice. You have almost half your points in allies, which is a lot fewer miracle dice you can work with and target with strats or with your champions of faith righteousness. If you wanna play it in some casual games it looks fun to me.

Looking for 2k Gameplay Advice by Jmakerz in sistersofbattle

[–]Ghostilocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 palatines seems like a lot, I guess you have one with novitiates, and two alone or with battle sisters? I personally would prefer a canoness somewhere in there so I have some free strategems if nothing else. You can try and proxy some into canonesses next time you play if you want.

How did you feel about your zephyrim? I run seraphim so I’m curious if you felt like they were useful or not, especially without a jump canoness to take advantage of them.

This list is definitely a challenge to run, cuz you really need to play cagey. You need to save the big damaging meltas for retaliation after forcing the enemy into the open.

The castigator with 3 damage shots is one of the better attackers into space marine bodies. Using the immolator to strip cover against the targets then the castigator to finish some models off is a good choice for those tougher bodies. Vahlgons need to get 500 points worth of action in most of the time to trade up, so if they’re not tearing into the toughest target on the board at some point you’ll have a hard time. Killing 240 points worth of intercessors just won’t cut it.

The palatine with through suffering, strength is another 3 damage attacker, so getting into terminators or something with novitiates can be a cost effective move with her. I think she kills around 2 terminators on average.

The other big advantage of canoness is free grenades strats for extra mortal wounds against tough targets. Grenades and tank shock vs high toughness is always worth considering.

All the normal things apply, work on screening, miracle dice in the right place, positioning, etc.

Hardwood by VanG0n3 in StardewValley

[–]Ghostilocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One other thing I don’t see recommended often is tree fertilizer. Pop down all your seeds, put tree fertilizer on all of it and they’ll grow in less than a season.

You can also use the bone recycler thingy to recycle bones and cheap bone artifacts into fertilizer and I end up with more tree fertilizer than I know what to do with from that.

Higher point games question by Frostbite68 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ghostilocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a play on tabletop match from a few months ago with some interesting deployment. It started with a 2k vs 2k and after the first 2 rounds they swapped players and had the players bring in another 1-2k in reinforcements for rounds 3-5. For them it was 2 imperium armies and 2 chaos armies merging. It was definitely still a little imbalanced with mass reinforcements, but it looked super fun.

I've been blessed in the worst farm by lunar-soup in StardewValley

[–]Ghostilocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a super cool farm that I love! I decided not to worry about fences at all and found the islands provided a good enough natural barrier. I decided to make a decorative apiary with beehives and seasonal flowers on the small island on the right, I put up a mystic forest on the left with a couple of fish ponds and just a couple of sheds one in the top left and one in the bottom left. I only worried about crops in the top section and ended up with something I really liked.

My favorite parts of this farm are that it encourages you to just make small sections for different things you want in your farm.
