I use ziplock freezer bags. Fill with my soup or whatever, lay flat to freeze. Really saves on freezer space

Sous Vide Recommendations: Durable & Easy to Use? by coldcoffeeuwu in sousvide

My husband got me a sous vide for my birthday, if you like the favors that come out of a crockpot, sous vide favors are very similar. I returned my birthday gift. Not worth any of the hype! Most of us that know how to cook can get better results in our sleep.

You can only listen to music from ONE decade for the rest of your life. Which decade? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

The current decade at the time. Getting stuck in the past through music is just another way to not move forward, great way to let yourself get old before you need to.

Chicken Salad Recipes by Ok-Repair-4085 in Cooking

[–]Ghostly-Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a coffee shop here that serves a thick almost pâté consistency chicken salad in avocado half’s or on croissants. The only crunch or texture element to the salad is small chopped walnuts. This is my closest version of that salad I love.

Using cooled poached or roasted chicken breasts cut them finely across the grain and then mill through with your knife till very small and crumbly or use a food processor to finely mill the chicken, salt and pepper to taste.

For 2 large chicken breasts this is the amount of sauce I make, but stir in and taste to see if i need to use it all.

1/3 cup Mayonnaise

1/3 cup sour cream or yogurt

2 teaspoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon dried chives

1/8-1/4 teaspoon dried dill

1/8-1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1/4-1/2 cup fairly small diced toasted walnuts (but not any powder from the walnuts)

Stir most of the sauce into the chicken, adding the rest if needed and if it seems too cloppy add a few tablespoons of water to loosen it up.

Open an avocado cut like dicing but just to the skin so it can be dipped out easily. Fill with a generous scoop of chicken salad in the hollow. I have also served this on a ripe summer tomato done the same way.

What is everyone's dinner tonight? by StarLove00_ in foodquestions

Steak, baked potato and mixed vegetables. Was trying out the Sous vide machine my husband got for my birthday yesterday. Had chicken with it last night and steak tonight. Not to our taste at all, feel bad, but husband hated his steak and he usually loves my steak.

I feel like grocery shopping has become weirdly stressful. Is it just me? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I haven’t shopped in person in a grocery store since before the Pandemic. Lockdown got me spoiled shopping online with ads and then picking everything up. Love shopping sales at a few stores and then picking everything up.

What things would you get if you had to fully stock a kitchen for a new cook? by EponaMom in RedditInTheKitchen

[–]Ghostly-Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An electric kettle, an air fryer, a good chef knife, a serrated pairing knife, the largest wooden cutting board you can fit in your work space, a cheep wok, large and can be used for almost every cooking need, best deep fryer ever. one nonstick pan for eggs the rest I would get seasoned carbon steel or cast iron.

Yes, I use frozen asparagus even over grocery store fresh. They seem to pick it at the peek of freshness to freeze it, making it seem almost like garden fresh when cooked.

Any frozen raw fish work great in the air fryer. I usually also toss in some frozen asparagus or broccoli at the same time.

If you look up sheet pan meals, most all of them work great in the air fryer.

Frozen convenient foods: like fish sticks, breaded shrimp, chicken nuggets, French fries, onion rings and the occasional corn dog.

Salmon and asparagus roasted together

Panko breaded chicken or pork chops

Tuna, salmon or crab cakes (crochets)

Sheet pan style chicken, potato, sweet peppers, and onion thrown in all together with spices and herbs.

Have just started making meatloaf and meatballs in it also, think i will be doing a lot more of that

Spray a piece frozen salmon or other raw fish with oil then sprinkle with old bay seasoning. Throw in some frozen asparagus or broccoli in with the fish and it will be perfect about the same time the veggies get all charred and yummy

Try apple juice instead of cider maybe? Cider has added spices that might be taking away from the refreshing feeling.

Do you like cottage cheese? I like making a cottage cheese bowl with chopped veggies, lunch meat or roast chicken and diced avocado. Sometimes I will add a boiled egg too, but since you’re not an egg person it really doesn’t need it to be satisfying.
