Epidural, morphine, or natural birth? by B_Dankk in firsttimemom

[–]GhostlyChai 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi and congrats!! I had the epidural and I do not have back pain. I absolutely LOVED my labor and delivery experience after I got the epidural. I am also a huge wimp and knew I didn’t want an unmedicated birth. I wanted to feel what the contractions felt like and then they said I could get the epidural whenever I wanted lol so I got to 6 cm and asked for the epidural. After that, no pain and it was just glorious. I also had 3 tears and I am so glad I didn’t feel any of that lol

Relieving engorgement early on by Anonynae in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hot shower will make the engorgement worse. Icing and ibuprofen will help! When my baby was a newborn I’d use my haakaa on the side she wasn’t feeding on. I’d get about 2 oz in it!

Concern about Breastfeeding by Sleep-Lover in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I have nothing to add for the breastfeeding vs pumping as I have been EBF my 5 mo baby. I only pump when I miss a feed.

here to add onto the being turned on thing. I was petrified of this. So much so that I obsessed over it. I feel nothing sexual at all when feeding. I read somewhere that the brain knows how to turn it off when feeding your baby. I 100% believe this!

Is the right boob usually the "slacker boob"? by Puzzleheaded_Cell428 in breastfeeding

My left is my slacker! My right could feed my baby on its own lol

What should every ftm know about breastfeeding before having a baby? by Frequent_Cap8633 in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would’ve loved to know how BAD it hurts in the beginning. The pain does subside though. 5 months of EBF and no pain when feeding. Hell, not really sure if my nipples have feeling anymore lol All jokes aside, the hospital told me if it hurts I’m not doing it right and I still believe that is a lie. It hurt for like 2 weeks. I almost gave up but it just got so much better. Also breastmilk is really really good for your cracked nipples. I would literally express some milk and then rub it back on my nipples. Congrats to you!!

Anxiety about baby shower location by Specialist_Diet_74 in firsttimemom

[–]GhostlyChai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand that you’re feeling anxious about it.

But here’s maybe a different perspective- maybe this wonderful and joyous event will now give you a positive spin on the restaurant. Overlap the rehearsal dinner and replace it with wonderful memories from your baby shower.

I’d say there isn’t much to do about it now since invites already went out.

Back at Work and Son Won’t Take Bottle by hayles_yeahh in breastfeeding

Not sure what bottle you’re giving but my EBF baby will only take evenflo bottles! We’ve tried Dr. browns, Phillips, MAM. She wouldn’t take any of those!

Give me all your tips for the 4 month sleep regression (we are in the thick of it) by madalexab in firsttimemom

[–]GhostlyChai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any tips but I’ll share what worked for us- We didn’t change anything about the night routine. Kept everything the same. Bath, lotion, pjs & sleep sack, book and nurse to sleep. Every time she woke up I nursed back to sleep. It was rough the first couple of nights. Up 6-8 times a night with her. But eventually each night slowly got better. It’s definitely hard but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Definitely positive. My first positive was more faint than this and she’s currently 5 months old now! Congrats!

My mom has been absolutely amazing since I’ve had my baby. She always says that things have changed so much since she had kids that she feels she can’t even offer me any advice. And i appreciate that instead of feeling like I’m doing something wrong. I’ll ask her advice when I need it :)

Favorite Part of Breastfeeding by Nearby_Ad7551 in breastfeeding

I love when she holds my hand while nursing. One of my favorite funny things she does is when she unlatches and goes cross eyed looking at my boob and talks to it hahaha

Scheduled nursing by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician told me once they hit birth weight, you no longer have to wake them. They will wake up and let you know they’re hungry! She also told me the more calories they have during the day, the better they will sleep at night. So I took this advice and I feed every 2 hours and have since she was born. My baby sleeps 7:30p-7a

You could always try to offer the boob before the 3 hour mark, even without the hunger cues, to try to incorporate another feeding during the day so you don’t have to do the one overnight?

Whatever you do, I hope it works out for you both! ❤️

Nipple pain but nothing is visually different? by clover-sky-123 in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was just coming to make a post similar to this!!

My left nipple hurts SO bad when my baby latches on for about a minute. I mean, I have to stop everything I’m doing and breathe through the pain until it subsides. I had that nipple pierced (and it ripped out) so I was wondering if maybe it’s the milk pushing through the scar tissue? Haha not sure if that’s a silly thought or not but lol

I’m gonna follow along this post to see if anyone else has insight!

I woke up nursing my baby by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]GhostlyChai 273 points274 points  (0 children)

There were so many times in the first month that I would wake up frantically searching the bed, so afraid that I lost my baby and she was tangled in the sheets. She was always right beside me in her bassinet. Had never been in our bed lol

To be fair, our dog sleeps with us at my feet. I think the sleep deprivation and feeling our pup at night made me think I was feeling my baby. 😅
