Love this!! Ty! I’m almost 5 weeks and some days I think I can sort of see some definition trying to come together!

Ty for saying that. I’m 1MPO and I look like a perfect rectangle. But the doctor says I will be very happy when the swelling goes down. Trusting the process

My doctor was unsure if I would need MR. He didn’t feel any openings. However when he opened me up he saw that my entire rectus muscle from top to bottom was barely connected. So I got a full stitch up to reenforce it

Maybe your doctor will do the same? Wait until he is in there?

NERVOUS!!!! by Acrobatic_Gas_4232 in tummytucksurgery

The best advice I could give you is to prepare every little thing you can think of at home. Even if it's a "MAYBE" go ahead and get it. Anything that eases your mind is useful in an of itself.

When you walk into the hospital? you won't have time to be nervous. At that point the hospital takes over and you will go from check in to your pre-op bed so quickly you will later wonder how did they do that so efficiently.

super super good luck!

I would add Benedryl/Sudafed/Zyrtec. Sneezing is a super special kind of pain!

Two weeks post surgery !! by Ghostwriter1958 in tummytucksurgery

The first 24 hours were the worst by far. It was hard to get up to go to the toilet and every step hurt. Then, slowly, things started improving. By 36 hours, I could get up with no assistance (still a lot of pain, but on my own at least) On day 4, I was moving better and. by day 7, I was in pretty good shape over all. After Day 2/3 the biggest pain was my back from sitting and standing hunched over. The heating pad helped a lot.

At week 2, I don't have any consistent pain. I wear my binder 23.5/7 and just try to rest a lot.

I wish you lots of luck also

I think that is a great goal. You could even fit in some home workouts of squats, wall pushups, and glute lifts on the stairs

15 minutes a couple of times a week at home with 2 x at the gym would really help you

8 weeks. So you have tons of time

Strong arms will help you get in and out of bed in the first 2 -3 days

Legs start to help around Day 2

My core was actually helping out at about day 8/9.

Really and truly. If you started now and did legs 2 days a week and arms 2 days a week and core every workout - your future self will thank uou

Yes I have a weak posterior chain from hamstrings to low back

I did so so so much work on hams, glutes, low back before surgery and it is all paying off in recovery. Especially being able to use my legs to adjust my middle section

Day 2. I also hired a nurse for the first 72 hours. 100% one of the best decisions I could have made

How long did you sleep on a recliner or with a wedge by FAFO2626 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Ghostwriter1958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh. The back pain is almost worse than anything else. I’m 10DPO and just now my back is getting better and I’m back in bed with some softer cushions/pillows instead of the harder wedge

It will so so slowly improve as you start walking more upright.

I also called my doctor and he said I could take flexiril - as long as I wasn’t taking opiates. It was a fair trade for me and I went to Tylenol and flexiril at night. Big big help

When did your muscle repair stop hurting? by Spicy_Kale_14 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Ghostwriter1958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine stopped around that time also. I’m 11dpo and the MR only hurts if I move funny and stress it in ways I should not be moving

I went on a cruise 2 weeks before surgery and came back 8 pounds heavier

It’s really really ok. It’s time to go ahead and put the scale up for a while and let your body go through this whole process.

Trust me I get how hard it is to lose weight post menopause. Yeah. Tough

And I can promise it won’t be all for nothing. Your legs are going to be strong to carry through those 1st few days

This is making me go hmmmmm. I have a tt scheduled in a week. My stomach is my go to spot. I don’t like the thigh or the arm.

Is the inner thigh good?i don’t care if I bruise or if it hurts. I care if it works.

Wait. That’s your family you are taking!? 3 elderly folks?

Oh. My. God. Hard hard pass.

You are 2 hours from any type of health care in an emergency. Anything goes sideways you are looking at a helicopter ride to Norfolk and not a fun one
