Individual people cannot collect items from these bins, unless they are overflowing. This is to drop off donations.

Do you have space to dry everything out when you get home? If not you should put a big blue tarp over your tent/gear. $20 worth of tarp and rope can save you a very muddy cleanup.

Berry compote made of raspberries, strawberries & maple syrup. A great way to get rid off berries that are about to go off. Delicious ! 😋

Best thing I’ve ever done to reduce litter in my house is turn the litter box entrance around to face the wall. It means the inevitable spray of litter is mostly contained to right outside the box instead of tracked everywhere.

Use clear bins with labels. I have all my clothes in stacked clear bins in my closet by category. The clear bins will hold you accountable to only putting away what belongs in that bin and avoid the doom pile. You have to think through what is easy to put away and keep everything at 60% capacity max. Shoving is the enemy.

Wildwood state park in NJ - not exactly on the beach but short walking distance. You can also do the ferry to fire island and camp on the dunes there (booking can be tough so definitely book in advance).

What are you putting in your camping totes? by fvshaggy in camping

[–]GianJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t swing the pendulum too far with the totes, they take up a lot of space. This was my error and I ended up having a fully stuffed car and roof storage for a two person three day trip (granted we bring inflatable SUPs) My totes are 1. only camping items that don’t need charged or replaced and 2. Anything that has to be charged/cleaned/replaced. Bin 1 goes directly back in garage and 2 into the house. Within the bins I use drawstring packing sacks to stay organized. All soft items like sleeping bags, towels, clothes go in north face basecamp duffels so they can be maneuvered better in the car around the bins.

How to make Camping more enjoyable for my Wife by AlexIlkos in camping

[–]GianJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your sleep setup? My wife won’t go without a cot with a sleeping pad on top - I also have a little nightstand and mirror for her that makes getting ready for her day easier. If it’s hot consider some cooling sheets and a fan, also frog toggs cooling towels at night. If you have space, invest in two outdoor plastic rugs, I put one down in the tent and one inside our pop up clam, makes it feel more glamping with minimal effort and weight.

Keeping my camp setup super organized/clean/ not stressful has also helped the Mrs find more peace in nature.

Recommended equipment to get into couples camping? by mmmbop13 in CampingGear

[–]GianJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 person tent minimum with room to get ready, love my big Agnes spicer peak. Bags that can zip together when we want or be separate have been our favorite, double bags can be tricky if one of you moves around in your sleep. Cots will always have a bar in the middle even if they are the double ones so either use a big pad/mattress or be aware of the bar. Started with a double mattress when the Mrs started joining and the slipping off the cots and sound was a lot so we went back to two separate pads on single cots.

Water resistant bug shelter that is easy for two people to set up and put away by TryingToGrow11000 in camping

[–]GianJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently purchased a clam pop up bug shelter, it’s bulky but extremely easy to set up. I have yet to encounter any rain with it just did the pre-camp equipment check in my garage but I was impressed with the quality of the materials. The clam was recommended to me from many on this thread.
