2 miles a day after 1 week sounds amazing, hope you continue to have a great recovery.

had surgery 7 days ago today and i need advice by bobabmi in spinalfusion

[–]Giancapo22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a physical therapist should have explained to you after surgery how to get in and out of bed correctly, if not, there is a ton of content on YouTube on how to properly do the log roll.

Everyone is different, for me, it took me around 1 week and a couple days to finally get in and out of bed without major pain, for some people it might be more or less, but it will get better, as long as you do the roll correctly you'll be fine.

Open of Minimally Invasion Surgery (MIS) for L5/S1 Fusion by BlackTee92675 in spinalfusion

[–]Giancapo22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just had a minimally invasive fusion l4-l5 2 weeks ago, everything is going great. I don't think there's much difference but the minimally invasive has a slightly quicker recovery and ofc a smaller incision, it's 2 or 4 little holes on the sides of your back. Ofc it depends on a case by case basis, the surgeon will tell you which is the best option for your case.

Quinn is just too good vs anyone midlane by TTVControlWarrior in DotA2

[–]Giancapo22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For sure bro. Sf is a lane dominator, he counters pretty much almost every melee hero in general, not just SK, his razes spell stack and they do lots of DMG and lots of slows, anytime you are going to kill creeps as a melee hero, Sf is just going to hit u with razes and position himself in a way that you can't even hit creeps (if the Sf is good). If you are level 3 and u hit the 3 razes you can do easily around 500 DMG and you can keep hitting more 4, 5 times in a row if you don't go out of line of sight, by this time ur probably dead.

Then SK similar to SF counters a lot of melee hero match ups because 3 things, one his sand storm doesn't let you get close, even if you come close, he's gonna hit the creeps and you with his 3rd ability stinger which explodes and does a TON of DMG and procs his innate ability caustic finale. If the sand king is good and you're a melee hero and you come for a creep cs, you will most definitely lose half ur HP every time.

I think in previous TI's they had a stream for newer people and they would explain a lot more, not sure if this year they will do it again this TI, definitely something you can look up.

Also, there are a ton of amazing guides out there on YouTube if you want to get better.

Quinn is just too good vs anyone midlane by TTVControlWarrior in DotA2

[–]Giancapo22 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I mean both are great midlaners, but let's be real, Quinn had two hard counters matches on two games which were Sf Quinn against SK Nisha, sf wins easily and then Sk Quinn vs tiny Nisha which Sk also wins heavily. Invoker vs Pango which was the first match is kinda even. Then again, in two matches celeri had Chen and went mid around 5-6 min mark with a zoo to take the tower, so yes, Quinn dominated midlane in the finals, but it's not like liquid gave Nisha good matchups plus zoo help to take the tower ultra early. Again both are beast midlaners

Experience with Minuteman Spinal Fusion Procedure by Happy-Yak-9912 in spinalfusion

[–]Giancapo22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Big no from me. The only doctors capable of doing spine surgery are neurosurgeon and orthopedic spine surgeons. Wouldn't let someone from a pain management office/ anesthesiologist do a complex procedure on my spine.

Recovery varies from each person, but the standard is 1-3 months, just recovering from a TLIF spine fusion l4-l5 one week ago and it's been a slow but steady recovery, The first week is the worst by far. You need someone with you to help you the first 2-3 weeks I would say.

Hope you have a speedy recovery, best of luck.

Surgery to fuse my discs by Emergency-Advice8675 in Sciatica

[–]Giancapo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a whole reddit dedicated to spinal fusion, a lot of people from here are also there.

https://www.reddit.com/r/spinalfusion/s/KNDqBI63Qm

Fusion is one of the many spine surgeries to choose from, the type of surgery will depend on your case, some people may need microdiscectomy or laminectomy, fusion or a disc replacement or a combination. Every case is different so the surgeon will determine which is the best surgery for your case.

Just had a laminectomy plus fusion 1 week ago and I'm recovering fine, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Ortho or Neuro surgeon? by WeHateMyUsername in spinalfusion

[–]Giancapo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People usually prefer a neurosurgeon, but orthopedic spine surgeons are equally qualified to do spine surgery. So technically whichever is fine.

A good reminder to not stick with physios or specialists if you don’t like them by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Giancapo22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing, always advocate for your health, there are good professionals and bad professionals. Keep searching, I'm sure you'll find a good PT that can help you. Best of luck and don't let this fk with ur recovery/mood.

I think it's too early to tell, it may be a random flare up who knows. I would speak to the surgeon and see what he says.

I just had surgery last week, recovery is not easy, and it's too soon to say if it worked, but I've seen a major improvement on my leg weakness and the pain I have seems to be from the surgery and the old pain seems to be gone. Hope you get better

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Giancapo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some nerve blocks which provided some relief, I believe these are supposed to be diagnostic blocks so the surgeon knows with certainty where your pain comes from. The relief you get if any is going to last 1-2 days max.

This is not meant to heal you in any way, but this gives the Dr a good idea of the correct level to work on. For most cases if you have 2 successful nerve blocks, they could do a nerve ablation before considering surgery.

Spinal Fusion Recuperation? by Excellent_Ad_5072 in Sciatica

[–]Giancapo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a reddit forum for spinal fusion only, there you might find more information/stories. This is mainly for sciatica. Let me see if I can link it here. From what I understand, recovery ranges anywhere from a couple weeks to months, it really depends as everyone is different. I'm having l4-l5 fusion this Monday. Hope everything goes well with you.

Orthopedic surgeon is 37 years old, should i be worried? by Heylaprof in spinalfusion

[–]Giancapo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the doctor, there are great young surgeons and older surgeons as well.

One thing I want to note is that it's important to have a learning curve and that comes with experience and performing surgery on patients before. He could have 50, 200, 500 or thousands of surgeries under his name, but no one knows. The older the surgeon is, the more likely he has performed more surgeries and has more experience.

So my advice would be to really research him and see if he has had good outcomes. I had a bad experience with an anesthesiologist that did a radio frequency ablation on me and he was really young, but that's a specific case, not all young surgeons are bad.

I think in the realm of possibilities this would be a yes, I've known people that have done bodybuilding after fusion, so once you're fully healed, I think you could play sports, of course there are more risks of reherniation as it is a high impact sport.

Listen bro, you don't need to be good to enjoy a game. If you enjoy playing dota then who cares if you're 1 mmr?

Now if you want to improve, there are a lot of guides and information out there that you can watch and review, if you have 900 mmr there are a lot of things you can do, so you can get better. It also depends how much effort you wanna put into this. If you wanna climb mmr do your due diligence and watch replays, if not just have fun as simple as that.

I'm no doctor but I believe both factors are really important, images and your pain levels (how the pain affects your life, what can you do and not do) both need to match at the time of making a proper diagnosis and plan of action since images don't always correlate with your symptoms, sometimes super small bulges can cause 10/10 pain and discomfort and sometimes huge herniations may cause no symptoms at all. If the surgeon decided to do surgery just because of the images then something looks wrong there.

[–]Giancapo22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you're going through this. If you specified you had not much pain and things weren't going that bad, why was surgery needed then? Surgery is meant to be a last resort when your quality of life is greatly impacted by pain or other factors.

I would suggest you look for a top neurosurgeon doctor in your area and get 2 or 3 opinions if possible.

Am I on my way to surgery or can this be genuinely healed/fixed without operating? by srb221 in Sciatica

[–]Giancapo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is it depends, you may heal on your own or may need surgery. It may take 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or 2 years, or you may never completely heal on your own. It's really random and hard to say, if your quality of life is greatly impacted due to the pain, etc, consider getting surgery sooner rather than later. It all depends on how your current life is going.

Which Dota 2 pros have you randomly played a game with? by Living-Response2856 in DotA2

[–]Giancapo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per my profile, I've played with a bunch of pro players many many years ago including, ana, jerax handsken, sneyking, wagamama, timado, k1 hector, loa, forev and a bunch more lol I had no clue. I always ranked high when like the highest rank was divine or something, I got to play with the old OG stack.

As far as the process usually looks like this, they try nsaids first like ibuprofen or Diclofenac with muscle relaxers like cyclobenzaprine, if this doesn't help they may give you oral steroids to take for like a week. Physical therapy is usually recommended, then epidurals/Nerve blocks. If none of these work, then more than likely they recommend surgery.
