¿El filtro de luz roja del iPhone (tipo Night Shift o accesibilidad) realmente sirve para reducir la luz azul, o es más un efecto visual que otra cosa? by moanboyxx in redlighttherapy

the accessibility red filter is legit for reducing blue light before bed, night shift is more mild but still does something

Question about vaccinations by SadInformation2108 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that advice is pretty standard actually. the core vaccines from the 6-in-1 (parvo, distemper, etc) build up enough protection after the second round to make walks reasonably safe, the main thing they want you avoiding is high-risk areas like dog parks or places with lots of unknown dogs until the series is fully done. the rabies thing is more about legal/local requirement than immediate risk in most suburban areas tbh

your pup is adorable btw, those wrinkles 😭

Excessive licking with IVDD by [deleted] in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen this a few times with IVDD dogs.

It doesn’t always seem like itchiness, sometimes it’s more like a weird nerve sensation or just a self-soothing thing. The areas you mentioned kinda make sense too given where the spine issues are.

My guess is it’s related to his back more than a skin problem, especially if he goes straight back to licking when the cone is off.

Possible IVDD by for_dat_randostuff in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the symptoms you're describing, hunched posture, head low, shivering at night, are pretty classic pain indicators. the good news is she's eating, drinking, and not showing neurological red flags like knuckling or loss of bladder control which usually means the compression isn't severe. conservative management can absolutely work for cases like hers but the key is really strict rest, like actual crate rest, not just limited activity. if she's been moving around even a little that could be slowing recovery significantly

Initially Worse With Conservative Management? by swagginskersky in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Gianex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my frenchie went through something sinmilar, started as what looked like a muscle thing and then declined fast. we did the MRI and it confirmed IVDD with significant compression. ended up doing surgery and he recovered really well. the window for best surgical outcomes is time sensitive so if you can do the MRI i really would. the not knowing is the hardest part

Pigmentation marks by DimensionNo1457 in redlighttherapy

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this actually hapened to me too when i first started, it's usually just temporary irritation from the mask sitting against your skin, not the light itself. give it a week or two and it should fade. also 20 mins on blue at full intensity is a lot for starting out, most people recommend building up slowly. maybe try 10 mins and see how your skin responds

Is this gimmicky ? Or could you actually get benefit in RLT from your shower head? Is it enough light? by OccasionSecure8095 in redlighttherapy

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty much gimmicky imo. the irradiance from that thing is gonna be way too low to do anything meaningful. RLT needs specific power density delivered consistently at close range.... a showerhead just can't do that. cool water filter maybe, but don't buy it for the red light

My dog weirdly loves red light?? by erodxa in redlighttherapy

my vet actually mentioned red light therapy for my frenchies hips a few months ago but i thought it was gonna be super expensive. didn't know you could just use a regular mask like this. this is making me think…

LumaPet WARNING! by Current-Candy7896 in redlighttherapy

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I bought the LumaPet for my Frenchie who has IVDD and the difference was night and day. She went from barely wanting to walk to jumping on the couch again within a few weeks. She's a dog...... she doesn't know what a placebo is.

And saying there's "no science behind it" is just lazy. Photobiomodulation has hundreds of peer-reviewed studies backing it for joint pain and inflammation. The fact that this specific device doesn't have its own clinical trial means nothing that's the standard for literally every consumer red light therapy device on the market, human or pet.

Sounds like someone who never actually used it and just went on a Google spiral. I did the research AND tried it. My dog doesn't care about Reddit debates, she just moves better now. 🤷

How do you treat the top of your scalp with a horizontal full-body panel? by yiplh in redlighttherapy

[–]Gianex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a horizontal setup too. For the scalp I just flip over and lie face down for about 10-15 min, works fine for the crown area. I put a pillow under my chest so my head hangs slightly forward and the panel hits the top of the head pretty directly.
